Ed Vaizey, the British Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries, has seemingly just confirmed that Sega studio Creative Assembly is creating a blockbuster title based on Alien. The information based on the visit Vaizey mentions in his tweet is under embargo until 2.00pm BST today. Bargo bustin stretches all the way to the top, you know. Watch for more later.

Creative director Mike Simpson said that he'd been given the directive to win awards by Sega, but wasn't overly pressured because "we like winning awards". Class in a glass.
"This is very much a triple-A project," Sega West boss Mike Hayes added. "We want this to be a peer to the likes of Dead Space 2."

If they want this to compete with Dead Space I guess it'll be a 3rd person action game.
It seems to be a third person game with multiplayer.

"SEGA greenlight major console investment
SEGA have okayed The Creative Assembly to develop a major new console title. Currently in prototyping stage the title and genre are secret but will constitute SEGAs largest current budget in internal development outside of Japan. Using technology and tools developed over the last two years the team will now grow substantially. Studio Director Tim Heaton said The Creative Assembly are known for Total War and we are privileged to have a skilled large team working to deliver Shogun 2: Total War. However we have moved forward with our console team and spent a lot of time developing an infrastructure that works for them and during that process developed an incredibly strong demo. It is great that we are getting the perfect backing from SEGA we have the time and the resources to deliver an awesome game."

Eurogamer said:Total War developer Creative Assembly is making a game based on the Alien franchise.
At a press event at Creative Assembly's Horsham, West Sussex base this morning the developer revealed it is hiring for the project, which it said was for a "console core game".
Launch platforms are yet to be announced.
160 people currently work at CA in Horsham. While the studio won't reveal how many people are currently working on the Alien game, it did say it wants to staff up to 200 within a year.
Indeed development has already begun, although CA refused to divulge more information. The game will not be shown at the E3 trade show next month, either.
Gearbox's Aliens game, Colonial Marines, is entirely separate and not linked in any way to CA's effort.
Creative Assembly's last game was March 2011's Total War: Shogun 2, recipient of a 9/10 Eurogamer review score.
