Crysis screens, the latest from CryTek

FarCry 2 (spiritually)! Nice! Loved the first, despite the wonky AI and "Im gonna shoot you in the face!" :lol

Cant wait!

The scans are probably helping it a little, but it's looking really really good. Hopefully it's going to be more public soon!

The engine is. The game hasn't been confirmed..
That's good. If it's anything like Far Cry, the game will be throw-away...but the engine will be gold.

Hopefully someone else puts it to use this time.

Far Cry a "throw away"? It had plenty of issues, but the highlights certainly provided me with a gaming experience that has still to be matched.

It provided good visuals and a great sense of scale for me, but I *hated* the gunplay, AI, scenario and mission design, as well as everything else related to actual gameplay. The act of exploring the islands was moderately entertaining, however.

Of course, who's to say that these guys can't change, eh? Perhaps they'll get their shit together and deliver some well designed missions and good AI.

Uh, the A.I. [when functional] was arguably the best in any game at the time. The biggest problem with Far Cry was that the A.I. would at times pretty much break down. A lot of bugs, unfortunately.

Looks great!

It says that you use a scanner to examine things like in Condemned. If you send the data back to the HQ (an aircraft carrier) you'll get new weapons and items.

You can destroy nearly everything in the levels. The plants will bend realistically if you walk across them. You are wearing a Nano Suit (like in MGS4? :D) and Jake will fall in love with a female soldier (like Sam in Double Agent? :D).

The enemies are aliens, lol. And there are no bosses. But some enemies are huge and you have to climb them (Shadow of the colossus? :))

Everything in the game is in-game graphics (no rendering or video stuff). Later you are in a spaceship with zero gravity. 10 hours of play time.

Let's just say I completely disagree and felt that the AI was terrible while working properly and absolutely unbearable when it wasn't.

It simply wasn't enjoyable (for me) to fight them.

I wish I could have enjoyed it as much as you did, however, as the environments were killer.

no, the biggest problem with far cry was the fact you spend half your time fighting those stupid mutants. otherwise the game was pretty good.

cant wait to try crysis, looks great.. looks like i'll need those x1900xts crossfire'd after all

There is nothing to "disagree" with; you're wrong, it's that simple. You may not appreciate it, but to say it was bad is just plain wrong.

Yeah, that was a problem.

No, I don't think so.

Why are you posting such a thing? I've just agreed to disagree. Leave it at that.

I believe the AI was poorly designed. What defines GOOD AI is fairly subjective, so it isn't possible for one to be "wrong", as you put it.

Has someone bought&read the preview ? Is there something about the requirements ?

Nothing about requirements. But it says that some destroyed objects (e.g. a little warehouse or boxes) will disappear on some PC's.

I think I could make out something about 2.0 GHz, pixel shader 2.0, and 512mb RAM. Of course, that's just picking numbers out of the text.

For all I know it could have been saying something about the staypuffed marshmallow man.

Sounds too good

if you look at the bottom of the pic with the big ass ship taken off the carrier, it says the release date it Q4 2006 and that the game is 60% done

I haven't read but are these pic implimenting any new D3D features?

isnt this engine based on DirectX 10? this will take over PS3 and Xbox 360 graphics in 2007 when Dx10 comes out.

Thats what I was thinking.
