That footage is probably running off a high-end DX9 card I think it's old footage, at that, which would tell you more about the technology it was using.

Besides, to "even run it" will require just a SM2.0 card. They're supporting 2.0 and up.

This is old CryENGINE 2 alpha build footage from September 2005. This was shown to the crowd at Microsoft PDC '05 conference.

There's two print magazine previews out now; Gamestar (click for thumbnails) and PC Zone. The pics on those previews are new and show much, much more impressive stuff. It's actually a little hard to believe that they are real-time, in-engine shots, but... both previews say that they are
