CVG: No Nintendo hardware reveal this E3 company confirms

Where has this rebuttal come from? Because if it's from Nintendo UK they know nothing about nothing.

What it says in the CVG article.

But representatives for Nintendo told CVG on Friday that such a reveal is not under consideration.

Metro in their article say the rebuttal is from Nintendo UK.

‘I can confirm Nintendo is not revealing any hardware at this years E3′, a Nintendo UK rep told Metro.

Here's a fan mock up to whet your appetites!!

Lol. All I'm saying is that a denial means nothing.

For the record, I don't think they will announce the new handheld, because it makes too much sense, and Iwata won't want to break his streak of bad decisions.

Instead, it will be QOL or nothing, either of which will be hugely disappointing.

If QoL or nothing is hugely disappointing to you, its your expectations there is something wrong with. I expect them to announce some awesome games, which is what they said they would. If they deliver on that promise I am happy.

Would LOVE a gamepad controller based on the gamecube controller, the gamecube controller just melted and became an extension of your hands.

If they reveal new hardware at E3, I can see it being their QoL platform.

The 3DS is also not doing too well in pretty much every territory, so they might try to revision it this year as well. I expect a successor to be revealed and launched in 2014.

So - it's the exact same thing pretty much?

they probably commented because they want to do a lot of promotion around mario kart 8 and having people hesitate on buying in because they fear they'll announce a new console hurts that marketing effort

NOE UK responded to CVG because they are UK based. In this very thread, dawg said NOE Belgium responded to his Belgium based website. See a pattern?

They never did that.

It should be hugely disappointing to anyone who wants to see Nintendo right the ship.

New games for a handheld in decline and a console that's been rejected in the market isn't going to get it done. They need another "third pillar" plan now.

They never did that.

They did. Flat out denied the existence of a new DS revision on multiple occasions, then they very soon after announced the DS Lite.

I recall Nintendo saying the same thing to Nikkei before the announcement of the 3DS XL. Oh here it is.

Another one:

Came here to post that.

Either way, it's way too early to put out a successor to the Wii U, and he 3ds is still pretty strong. They might show a revision of something though.

Again: A UK spokesperson said he doesn't have any knowledge. If that is " We won't reveal new hardware", than I can't help you.

For the 3DS they did. I remember one poster going absolutely bonkers about how Miyamoto lied and he couldn't trust him any more as well as Nintendo as a whole.

Miyamoto said something to the affect of "we are done with the 3DS(OG) and we are satisfied." E3 is over and the XL is announced. I took it to mean that he meant that functional upgrades for the system wouldn't happen like the DS to the DSi? I forgot what the last generation original DS was called but it could do things the DS and DS Lite couldn't.

Nintendo commenting on rumors and speculation is breaking precedent, correct?

Probably already said, but if this rumor spread and became bigger before E3 it could hurt them. It's just around the time when they release their biggest game on a struggling platform, they can't let people believe that the next thing is already around the corner - they have to make MK8 happen, even if it means commenting on rumors.

It was already hurting them. I saw numerous people say they're holding off on purchasing a Wii U with Mario Kart because of it.

Miyamoto said he is happy with the 3DS hardware. He deflected, not said they won't reveal anything.

I am not saying it is, the comment was more about the DS revision, which they denied existed for ages and then.. oh look we actually do have one!

I would imagine if it was anything it would be a revised Wii U, maybe with the expensive flash memory removed, or a redesign. Or maybe something with their QoL project, and that might be as soon as next week when we learn something new. Maybe.

Right. It's going to be unveiled in a Direct before e3 then, obvs.

C'mon. Sure they've lied before (XL, 2DS) but this was a very loose rumour to start with anyway. Time to move on and concentrate on the stuff they will show, otherwise you're only disappointing yourselves...

So now the denial is being taken as a confirmation? Wow.

They would be out of their minds to announce a new Mario Kart bundle that is releasing only days before E3, only to turn around and reveal a new console that they just denied. Does anyone really think that they would consider burning so many people like that? It would destroy already fragile consumer confidence.

Please be a WiiU that can play all games in 1080p native.......yea pipe dream I know but a can guy can dream!

Or a 100$ WiiU without the controller

Anybody who thought that Nintendo would reveal a new console right at the launch of Mario Kart and before the launch of Smash Bros, and right at the reveal of Zelda, wasn't thinking very deeply about it in the first place.

Yup, all that need's to be said.

Wii U pro controller is great too honestly.

Did you read the actual rumor?

Who exactly are "representatives of the company"? As has been pointed out many times already.
"There's no new DS"
"Here is the DS Lite"
David Yarnton (then head of Nintendo UK) famously said that the day before NCL announced the DS Lite. Nintendo UK get translated info from NOE Germany who in turn got their info from NCL so you can see how such a thing would happen.

At the same time if they did know you would not expect them to reveal due to the same chain of command I kind of outlined above (plus wouldn't it suck if Iwata's thunder was stolen by a "sure theres a DS lite").

For the record I did not think new hardware was particularly likely.

They denied the 3DSXL revision and said there would be no hardware revision at E3.
Then after E3 they released the 3DSXL trailer.

I'm just saying a denial means nothing or everything

Could have been this don't really remember what revision its was or if it even was DS or 3DS. Just that DENIED one week, and the week after TADA new revision!!!

No screen no fun. (imho), but will get a Wii U pro controller as soon as I find a white one bomba cheap.

even if a reveal is scheduled,it's not like they are going to admit it.

Or maybe not.

Edit: I can't really find a real quote about the DS Lite, just comments of the journalists.

Nope. We had a official statement: It is a rumor.

A Miyamoto statement: He is happy with the 3DS.

Huh... wasnt expecting a response.

I was. They're not going to just abandon their current hardware this soon. Factoring that in, the last thing they need is everyone pinning their hopes on a new announcement, and potentially even putting off purchases in anticipation of it. Better to put the rumour to rest asap and be transparent about what's in store.

Wii U pro controller is great too honestly.

It is, but the gamecube controller was on another level, for its time. The Y, X, and B buttons were around the large A button, rather than equally spaced like pretty much every other major controller. It was different, but it worked, and it was comfortable, it did just conform to your hands. The triggers also had that little "click" right at the very end, though I'm not sure how many games used it, since I don't remember. The Wii U Pro Controller doesn't have very good triggers, in my opinion, even if buttons might make more sense. But the thumbsticks are quite good, not sure about the d-pad.

It seems like a lot of people are taking Nintendo's denial as a confirmation, or at the very least taking it to have no meaning.

That's fair enough, but I sincerely hope that you all keep yourselves from posting endless threads about your disappointment and your realization that Nintendo is going under when they fail to reveal new hardware at E3.

Usually there is silence or no comment about a leak. I wonder how many execs were high fiving each other with smug grins in their ability to say 'no we don't have any new hardware that would be an attempt to turn this company around'.

Still when I heard about QoL I didn't expect it to be new hardware either but a software platform that can be integrated into other hardware so they still may have something in the works but it won't be ready till 2015 at the earliest.

I forgot about that. Oh boy well I guess we can ignore what Nintendo says.

Well duh. We didnt hear any leaks and saw no smoke which was a clear sign there was no fire.

Next year is totally the year for new Nintendo hardware though. I expect we will start hearing rumours before the year is out.
