Cyberpunk 2077 is a complete long term disaster, knocks down value of CD Projekt RED by a whopping 75%. No longer Poland's biggest game studio

Whats hyperbole?, their reputation is in tatters with a lot of gamers, and as the article says they have lost a big chunk of worth with this game.
As for the 3080ti vid, i'll try and find it.

EDIT.

3:40-5:45 is the 1080p Ultra no RT section.
It actually drops into the 90's in large parts of the city, the 80's even at times.
This is a 4k card we are talking about here, and the 2nd most powerful card you can buy.
What the fuck am I even reading?

You monkeys need to frikken think.
Just cuz you cant play a game at 240fps Ultra settings doesnt mean the game isnt optimized........your hardware is just weak.
Most AAA devs make games for future hardware, especially when new gen hardware is round the corner........they want their game to be a benchmark tool for the new hardware.
Remember how demanding The Witcher 2 was?
Pretty much every GPU gen a game or games come out that "justify" upgrading you GPU/CPU.

Eh, this article is all about the share price, which isn't the same as the position the company is in. The stock price got inflated during the pre-release Cyberpunk hype and then took a beating amid all the controversy. And of course there are plenty of things going on in the world at the moment contributing to why the price is staying low. Still, they're at the same levels they were back in 2018 after the success of Witcher 3, so not exactly in a terrible position. And they have Witcher 4 in their back pocket.

And Cyberpunk sold well so it was not a financial failure for the company and it still has legs. Just a few days ago the game had over 18 000 concurrent players on Steam. That's very good for a single-player game so long after release. Also, are there really still people who think it's a bad game? I guess maybe still people stuck with a PS4.

I am sure they will recover as they have GOG which makes a ton of money. Stock might be undervalued right now. Could be a good time to buy in and wait for those Witcher gains.
Actually GoG is a real money sinker and has been their main source of negative profit for a long time. They recently announced they would downsize operations on it, as it cost too much money.

I think it would be worth it. I loved Witcher 1, the only thing that bothered me was the dumb combat system.
I think it would.

Witcher 3 is an evergreen title. Witcher 2 is quite ready for consumption if they port it to current gen systems and give it some extra love on PC. That leaves Witcher 1 as the hard one to do justice. I actually think they should update Witcher 1 to Witcher 2/3 standards and then go from there.

That way they could evergreen the 3 games and perhaps a bundled in trilogy. That could pay Witcher 4 development easily.

well its been two years and he game still sucks. the games open world is just fundementally flawed and no amount of delay will fix that.

You can kinda understand the pressure that lead them to the rushed release, but what is really incredible to me is that 1.5 years later they have not been able to introduce much else than bug fixes to the game. That means the game was released at least 1 year early. Really 2 years early, if you take into account how barren and underwhelming the world was.

That. That is hyperbole. The game is consistently at the top of the STEAM sales charts when it goes on sale, suggesting that players are still interesting in trying out the game.

I love how you're impression of the games performance on the 3080TI is in complete opposition to the YouTubers. . .as if you just scrawled through videos looking for CP77 performance with the sound muted and was just looking for numbers to confirm your "feels." The 3080TI is a beast of a card but it isn't one-size fits all. RDR2 on PC was savaging cards, but no one without skin in the game was saying "Oh this game sucks. . ." People just realized that you couldn't throw the game up to ULTRA and expect similar performance as in other games at the same settings (which is a spectacularly obvious statement, but. . .)

Man, you guys remember the journalists absolutely gushing about this game that they got to see behind closed doors? They made it sound like the best game ever. Never trust those clowns.

Why wouldn't they gush about a bespoke experience that didn't show the games weaknesses. Like just say you think all journalists are bought and paid for instead of this weird "wink-wink-nudge-nudge" example that doesn't even make sense on its face.

Seeing as it's a free update probably not

Half of the retards here loathe cdpr despite the fact that most companies would have charged for this
When did that happen and why? I thought everyone loved them after the Witcher 3. Just because cyberpunk didn't live up to expectations?

Cyberpunk launched pretty terribly for the base xbox one and ps4, so that clouded a lot of people's views on it, despite being a fun game running great on current gen consoles

Hating on it is pretty much a meme at this point, I'm honestly pretty sure that half the people constantly berating it haven't even played through the game

Yeah they fucked up but you would think they had built up some goodwill with the last two Witcher games. Gamers typically suck so I shouldn't be surprised.

I'm personally waiting for cyberpunk to come up game pass. All the negative press put me off buying, even at a low price

Might be waiting a while, it frequently goes on sale for less than 20 dollars though and you will absolutely get your money's worth if you aren't determined to dislike it before trying it out

I knew they were trash since the day they decided to add ubersampling on the Witcher 2 and when they released the trash port of the Witcher 3 with PC, yes, I said port. Still, I really love the story, music, characters and gameplay of cyberpunk, the world and the open world system is pointless tho.

I remember they pulled the same thing with The Witcher 1. It was buggy on release. They released that enhanced edition to make up for it.

Stock market has crashed globally, it doesn't mean it's all because of CP2077 even if it's a big factor.

Shh... That doesn't align with the narrative OP's trying to push.

Seriously though, are people here that unaware of what's going on with the stock market, that they'll attirbute it to this or that?

so ur saying that all those missing features that cdpr forgot to tell us about arnt part of the problem ? only the bugs?
where is the branching story ? where are the deep rpg mechanics ?
i get it things change and some stuff can be taken out of the game but that wasnt the problem , problem was that cdpr didnt came out months before the release of the game and say :
"hello dear gamers , unfortunately our ambitions for our new ip cyberpunk 2077 were too big so we had to make some changes in order to make the game work , we had to cut out features A , B ,C etc , but that doesnt mean that we wont do our best to deliver the best product for you , our fans . To see exactly the state of the game as it is now we would like to show you a 15-20 min demo , enjoy "

No, cdpr fucked up with promises that didn't come to fruition, but that doesn't take anything away from what was actually delivered.

It's still a great game, and I think a LOT of people have have trouble admitting it because they feel cheated or whatever.

Being offered a new BMW for 100 dollars is still a great deal if it turns out to be a Ford

Its there. Many different relationships can develop in a variety of ways, your choices can completely doom certain gangs or people at some points of the story, or save them, and many side-quests have different outcomes, some of which imply greater repercussions to the world. Not to mention loads of choices with mechanical repercussions (Money, special items, stealth or upfront approaches, etc).

Its not bethesda level but its definitely above Deus Ex or The Witcher 3 in that regard, same for the rpg mechanics.

I have NO idea why anyone was even hyped about the game. CD Projekt hasn't proven that they can even make a game with good gameplay yet. The sword play and movement controls in every Witcher game blew. Why was anyone expecting it to be good? Their laughable, emo writing is only impressive to teenagers. The dialog in those games sounds like it's a parody.

what were they thinking?
Christmas 2020 sales. The game has been such a money pit, they had to launch it. I guess their GOG site doesnt make enough money to hold the fort for a few more years.

Amazingly, The game has sold 18M copies by end of 2021. By now, it might be 20M.

The numbers are estimated sell-through on PC, PS4, and Xbox One corresponding with 2020 and 2021. Cyberpunk 2077 has sold 18 million+ copies to date, with 13.7 million sold in 2020 and 4.3 million sold in 2021.

Play any of the side missions in either Horizon games and tell me Witcher 3 doesnt just live in an entire new plane of existence in comparison.

Witcher 3 is their benchmark game to compare against, and since CDPR released so little info, videos or even a demo download, people assumed 2077 would be just as good. It wasnt.

2077 also has that Blade Runner setting, which gets a lots of gamers amped up. Just look at that indie game called The Last Night from years back (I think vapourware). It's another indie game with that retro pixel look, but since it's Blade Runner-ish people loved it. And that game (similar to 2077) had hardly any info to go on except a few short preview videos.

Side missions?

Sorry, didn't last more than 5 minutes in Horizon. Tried it, was moving around as a little girl for some dumb reason, got loaded up with cut scenes, then alt f4'd. I only play real games (which CD Projekt doesn't make either).

i guess everyone expected them to hire people who know how to do good gameplay especially after they decided to do make it an fps

The previews for the game made it look like the best thing ever and an open world in a Blade Runner style setting would be incredible if done right so I can see where the hype came from. It actually makes me sad to think about what could have been.

Lol the premier pc dev not making real games.
K mate.

Stock value is made up by lunatics, so any"long term effect" will become visible after the release of their next game.
It's not like that studio is actually one of the really old studios with various IPs under their belt and an actual streak of disasters. They also had to shrink their ambitions, refocus with gog and since the initial Witchers were also heavily reworked, cyberpunk is kind of a return to old form many Witcher 3 people seem to not know. Iirc they redid the entire voice acting because they themselves decided it wasn't good enough. No idea if the early fans even complained, internet hate mob wasn't active then I think.

The real impact won't be felt until their next game releases. I'll never pre-order or buy a CDPR game at launch ever again, and I suspect I'm not alone. If a large enough proportion of players take a "I'll play the game in 12 months when it's patched and functional" approach to their next game, that'll cause a reduced retail presence (which is still determined largely by pre-order numbers) and overall very muted launch.

I can appreciate that approach and hesitancy (I'll probably never view CDPR as favorably as I did prior to Cyberpunk, though I don't dislike them now), but the vast majority of gamers are most definitely going to flock to Witcher 4 like it's the second coming. Even if the reviews aren't great.

That franchise is just too popular now, too present in the zeitgeist, to not enjoy a successful launch that every journo, streamer, and influencer will be falling over themselves to hype up and use as a revenue device for themselves.
