Cyberpunk Red - Tabletop RPG Latest Edition

So was checking this out and all around looks really good.

It serves as a new edition to the Cyberpunk pencil and paper tabletop RPG as well as being a sort of prequel to Cyberpunk 2077 by CD Projekt Red.

There's A LOT of detail on the history and setting. How certain states seceded from the U.S. or how some went full blown socialist, The 4th Corporate War and stuff on The Net.

Quality looks top notch. Everything is in color and the artwork is fantastic.

I've only briefly played Cyberpunk in the late 80s/early 90s by R. Talsorian games and I think I once played the GURPS version as well.

Since the video game enticed me with its surprisingly good story, I want to know more and this looks like a great place to start.

Edit: apparently they also released a "baby's first RPG" jumpstart kit so you should get your 6 year old into playing it too.

I know what gift I'm giving for the next baby shower or gender reveal party.

I had heard it was in the works.

Cool stuff!

As good as Cyberpunk was, I always preferred shadowrun. The idea of being a 3 feet dwarf running around guns akimbo always made me giggle. Even worked it into the the in-game scenarios too...

No it's available in full.

I also like Shadowrun and have Shadowrun Returns and Hong Kong. I still need to get Dragonfall.

My only issue is I'm so burnt out on Tolkein-ism but I love the more Lovecraftian elements.

So fun to play. Ive been playing since mid 90s and its cool to see that a whole new group of people may be getting into it cause of the hype of the game.
The R. Talsorian game I only played very briefly and made a Netrunner.

The GURPS Cyberpunk game played was a lot of fun but mostly due to the GM. Bonus is that I played with IRL punks and goths and a very diverse group.

GM was an Asian guy with a mohawk and played with two goth girls (one girl is now also a wiccan) and a black guy. Not sure if it also counts but I'm a Jew. This was mid 90s.

Wokesters would be in-love with our group but funny thing is none of us were "woke" plus it was the 90s lol.

Edit: I loved whenever there were girls wanting to tabletop. I never knew one DM or player who ever had issues with it.... why almost as if the narrative that men don't want women players in the group has no truth to it at all....

I prefer the Talsorian but the GURPS one is pretty fun too.

I met my wife tabletop gaming and we have 3 couples that make up our weekly group. I've never really seen the supposed anti-woman side of it but my wife has said that she has had some weird experiences trying to go to game shops for Magic tournaments.

I played some pen and paper RPGs in late 90s - Call of Cthulhu, Warhammer. Always gravitated towards cRPGs, or maybe I was just not sociable enough. Can’t wait to give it a try with my kids!
I love both too.

I use to hate Wh40k and then I slowly got into it after the video game Space Marine. I swear that game is so need of a sequel they should of mandated in the stimulus bill.

I also love Call of Cthulhu. I picked up the Call if Cthulhu Official Video Game about a year ago when it was dirt cheap on GOG. It gets hate but I dig it and it's the first game based on Chaosium's tabletop version.

My finger is hovering over the Buy button for CoC, it’s on sale for the next 3 hours on Xbox, but I have such a huge backlog I’m not sure. Then again I love Cyanide games, Sherlock Holmes series is an example of how you can make a great game without too much money.

It's $7.49 on GOG if you wanted the PC version.

A lot of people hate the game. It's a walking sim but tbh the tabletop game barely had any action and Lovecraft was all about suspense and mystery so it doesn't try to be anything other than that.

YMMV but I'd say if you like the Mythos you can't lose out for the cost of a Big Mac meal.
