This is the story of a man with a very strange fate. His name is David Young – formerly with the Boston PD Narcotics Unit, now a private detective. He possesses the supernatural ability to “dive” into the world of the past by touching left-behind items called “mementos.”

Two years ago, Young’s wife was killed by an unknown assailant. In her last breath, she told him to “Look for D.” From that moment on, the search for 'D' became Young's whole life – nothing more, nothing less.

Suddenly, he receives a case that might be related to 'D.' This case revolves around a courier for a drug called “Real Blood” who vanished after coming forward to testify against a drug lord known as “D.” Apparently, he vanished from thin air while being escorted to Boston in an airplane.

Finding the vanished courier could lead to the identity of 'D.' If Young obtains a memento that could take him back to that fateful day… then perhaps he’d be able to change his destiny.

And so, David Young dives into the case of the vanishing courier, as the wheels of fate begin to churn once more...

Want to use any arbitrary resolution your heart desires? Look no further than Durante's alternate launcher!

D4 PC released (on Steam and elsewhere) recently. The game uses UE3, so it works well on PC, and the mouse controls are also well done. The only problem is that the built-in launcher presents a fixed list of resolutions rather than all available ones, and also somehow messes up with DPI scaling.

I wrote a new Launcher in C# which doesn’t have this issue. It’s available here.

I also made the source code available on Github. Not because I’m very proud of it or because it’s particularly interesting (it’s just a simple Winforms C# app written in an hour or so), but because I hope if I put it in the public domain it could help improve this state of affairs in the future.

The release time is taunting me. Figured it'd be like most Steam releases and hitting early morning, but nope, another 7 hours. Boo.

Hell yeah. I'll buy this game because it's awesome, because I want season 2, and because Swery is the man.

Also pretty hefty recommended hardware for how it looks. :p

I want to know how does it play on PC without the Kinect which was the awesome thing on Xbox

Swery made sure that the mouse controls are an equally awesome experience.

We're super excited to have everyone enjoy the PC version with mouse controls :D

You should wake up whoever's in charge of the decision and tell them to hit the "release on Steam" button now instead of in 6 hours. Please.

Using the standard Xbox controller setup is an option as in the Xbox One version, but they recommend mouse controls and going by some of the previews that have surfaced it seems to work quite well.

The worst part is, I can press that button, but I'm not in charge!

Everyone that played the demo at PAX East and at Tokyo Indie Fest really enjoyed the mouse controls. It's been really well received (something we're incredibly happy about).

I personally think the full mouse controls give it a modern point-and-click adventure feel.

Any word on if the demo launcher is the same as the main game launcher?

Specifically about how you can only select like 6 resolutions within the launcher (up to 1080p), but if you bypass the launcher and edit the ini files, you can go higher?

Nice OP.

Wish the game supported borderless window, always bizarre when a UE3 game is set up in such a way that you can't even force it

The wait is real :(

Think it's bad for you? I have to stay up and make sure nothing blows up prior to release!

I can confirm that the launcher is largely the same. I've brought up the issues voiced on GAF regarding the limited resolution options with the dev team, and we're still talking it over. I can't promise immediate improvements, but the team is paying attention.

Is "Don't Die Young" a reference to David Young?

Also, how does it perform? Japanese PC ports are scary.

Yup! Kinda multi-tiered there. Obviously referring to the subtitle for the game, the phrase "The good always die young" , David Young, and the possibility that Season 2 could happen and revive the series rather than let it die with Season 1! :3

Many people reported the demo running quite well for them, check out the thread here or download the demo and see for yourself before the game goes live!

How long till this is available? Been waiting!

4 hours according to the Steam page.
