Sorry, felt like a good time for a my opinion is fact thread plus I'm finally reading the manga(never had before), so here we are.

Dandan is the best db opening out of them all, and the Kai openening and closing were way better than the originals.

Why did Dragonball/z originals suck So much?

Rock the Dragon > All

So many threads about GT lately. I've never watched it because everyone says it sucks, but now I kinda want to. Is it actually bad, or is it bad in that "I'm from the internet and hate everything" sort of way?

Dragonball GT doesn't suck. I never understood the dislike for GT it's very enjoyable. It's different than DBZ but I'd say watch it. Also GT has some of the best endings and certainly the best opening from all 3 series.

Dragon Ball GT Hitorijanai
Dragonball GT Blue Velevet
Dragonball GT Don't You See

I watched it as a kid when it was airing two decades ago. I recall being bored most of the time and there were a lot of sad moments. Dandan has to be one of the catchiest songs and it works so well when they make different renditions of it for happy times and slow the theme down for sad times.

The slowed down version is heart tugging.

It's definitely worth watching, it's just a victim of the absurd power inflation that went on in DBZ that also sidelined a lot of well liked characters. The ending is amazing, way better than the Goku/Uub ending in the manga.

Cha-La Head-Cha-La is the best for me, but I understand where you're coming from. Both Dan Dan and Dragon Soul are great.
the content of the video is great, as is the music.

But the music from this one trumps all

This however.
What the fuck is this.
Rock the Dragon and least had a memorable beat and lyrics.
Such a lazy collection of clips too.

Watch it. You'll probably realise it's shit and stop. If not then you would have discovered something you like I guess lol

Not keen on GT but always liked that dan dan song, I used to be quite fond of the german opening for dragonball as well even though I don't speak any german, haha.

Rock the dragon is the best one we got over here in the UK, when the dub changed to the canadian one the theme was awful (dragon dragon ball! dragon ball zeeeeeee) it's so lame. I really can't get away with the Kai music either, it's nowhere near as good as the original japanese soundtrack.

Yep, it's the best opening. Funny thing, in Portugal both Dragon Ball and DBZ have "original" openings and endings that were created here, although iconic, they're absolutely horrible. DB GT on the other hand, was a translated version of Dan Dan and despite the fact that DB GT oringinally came out in Portugal only in VHS, it's very common to hear someone singing it when talking about Dragon Ball.

I think this is a testament to the quality of the song.

Sigh... It wasn't hard to guess this would be the answer.

Not surprising really.

That said, growing up with the original voice for 5+ years I never could get used to his English dub, always felt off. Maybe that's why I like how TFS went for his voice style, it feels more like an attempt to bridge the two versions together.

The acting and scripting is muuuuuccchhh better in TFS.

That isn't a slight on the actors either. Hell most of them do GREAT on Dragon Ball or other things these days. Sean Schemmel is a legit version of Goku now as far as I'm concerned. It's a slight against Funimation as a company in the early 2000s.

rock the dragon takes a dump all over those chumpy openings

I've been listening to the American soundtrack of Z with the Faulconer (?) stuff and...
oh my god it absolutely blows. Its so awful lol

Rock the dragon is just terrible. Now I understand why the association between DBZ and Linkin Park was ever made in the first place.

This is Dragon Ball Z:
