Also, am I right in my understanding that Sophia's power was never real and was never meant to be real? She was basically just a plant to demonstrate what happens if/when we do break our FA? Do I have that right? Crimson?

Correct, the role also wasn't RNG'd.

not even working the vote into the rhyme?

pathetic.

Since votes need still to be on a separate line even in poetry it makes it hard to target players with short names, so StanleyPalmtree, I thought I would use unvote to get myself an extra syllable.

To be fair, the general sentiment seemed like we shouldn't force a mass claim.

its like this is your first time watching a death game story, there always has to be an immediate sacrifice to prove the consequences of breaking the rules.
really gotta get the tension going so that everyone has an excuse for their terrible decision making.

This is an example of one I would have kept to myself. All this does is make some people want to coddle you and others want to put pressure on you only for the sake of the claim. It's a distraction at best and scum trying to make early excuses at worst.

-----

This talk makes me wonder if there is a forbidden action cop. Not sure how useful that utility would be.

Ehhhh, just be sure if you want to lynch me or not if the time comes, I don't want to spring it on people if the time arises and it would be markedly more distracting at day end or if there is a turbo. You can pretend it isn't there if you want though!

I misunderstood this post. The unvote line is part of the poem which is a limerick in AABBA structure with the last line reading "unvote flux wave zed"

Zed of course being the correct pronunciation in Her Majesty The Queen's Most Britannic English.

I don't care at the moment, it makes sense as a forbidden action, I'm just hoping it isn't a constant topic through the day.

Is your game going to be doing your FA then spending the next 3 posts explaining why it worked then repeat?

Alright, well those who haven't posted yet seem to be:

1. nin1000
2. Royal_Flush
3. Blargonaut

A lot of the current discussion revolves around forbidden actions, naturally. D1 always feels weird to me without some kind of real impetus.

I was going to wait a little longer to prod someone but seeing as we have a pretty good turn out so far I'll go ahead and

VOTE: nin1000

Nin seems really hard to get a grasp on anyways, may as well try and get some early discussion from him. Lets see what nin 3.0 is all about.

...Alrighty then. On the topic of forbidden actions, I can't be in the top two of votes by days end (well, specifically i can't be second).

Odd

Thanks to your many mafia playing talents, your vote is equivalent to four regular votes, additionally on night 1 you will learn the alignment of every player in the game. You are also night kill immune, and should you be the vote leader at the end of a day the player with the second highest number of votes will be lynched instead.

In case you didn't catch mine. I need to post every fourth post in a poetic form. Limerick, haiku, rhyming couplet or sonnet.

This seems like a pain in the ass to police, to the point where the claim seems...dubious.

If you are supposed to die when you break this rule, someone has to constantly go through your posts, count your posts, and make sure your 4th post counts as a poem? Moderator shot themselves in the foot.

It does go both ways, though. You'd think Faddy would come up with a forbidden action that'd be less of a pain in the ass if he was going to make one up.

I don't know? Can't you search the thread for all posts by user and they come up in order. Plus it was bound to come up so other posters in the thread can police it.

That's kind of a double edged sword though. If we spend the time checking and catch you on it - pointing it out would be a bad choice unless we have reason to suspect you're lying about it in the first place.

Hardly. Those are two different things, so i don't know what you're getting at.

One means that they're lynch immune and the other means that whether i have the most votes (duh) or the second most (my forbidden action) I'll die.

I mean, I was in the first Danganronpa mafia game and there were no FAs to deal with. Just awesome maps and fight clubs.

It feels a bit pointless to go after FAs when scum could have them to.

I feel bad about Sorian. That's good I think... I said to myself a town read would be worrying and reading closer - while I don't have a great sense of scum!Sorian - no tells are coming through.
Terra is sort of solvey. He sticks out a bit and it looks like he's genuinely curious.
Splinter is kind of townie too.
Faddy feels too bandwagony and jumping to conclusions. Could just be playstyle.
VOTE: Faddy
Why did you post so much fluff early game knowing you had to "claim" at the fourth post and that it'd be a bit of a pain in the ass to write? If you wanted to claim, why not spam so you can claim right away?

/goes after FA
My point is I don't think the FA themselves have to be alignment indicative as it'd make sense to give scum some if some/all townies have one. It looks like a general mechanic and not town only.
Huh, I don't think I was aware of the avatar business. This was the one I had when I first signed up for GAF, so I'm kinda fond of it.
Keep it, I like it.

I don't really have as strong of feelings as you do so far Ty, so that may be contributing to it. OceanicAir's FA claim sticks out the most of anything because it's the only one so far that seems to have much actual impact on the game. Then again it seems like something scum wouldn't want to claim for no reason, if there is a role that can investigate FA's then Oceanic must know he'd be attracting their attention. Due to that I'm inclined to think they're telling the truth. Unfortunately we don't know what a scum FA would look like so this isn't really indicative of his actual alignment.

Sorian and Kark have both been fairly active and of anyone have at least some amount of posts to try and infer from, but at this point I'm not confident enough that my feelings on them aren't influenced by my previous experience with them. The only game I played in with Sorian he was town and his play feels the same as before, but considering I don't know what the opposite side of his play would look like that doesn't mean much. Kark on the other hand does not seem much like he was in Quarantine in which he was town, but that could just be because he's not making crazy gambits
yet

I bet forbidden actions are universal based on the premise of this game, but I do wonder if there are any significant differences between the types townies have and the types scum have. I'm guessing probably not, since that could make for an easy tell and that'd be lopsided in the favor of Town.

Then again, scum might have more lenient forbidden actions, since it'd make for one hell of a game if they all ended up getting themselves killed from them.

I would like to know this too.

I don't see much wrong at this early stage in Day 1 for Kark to do some minor probing over an interesting forbidden action claim.

Asking questions that are obvious/already have been answered smells more of trying to stay busy. I'm all for probing but Karl was just asking questions for the sake of it.

What's obvious about "what happens in a tie"? I haven't seen it addressed anywhere

Seems fairly clear cut to me. Being tied for second is still being within the top two.

It would actually be tied for first, not second. That could technically be argued as not being in violation of his FA if it is specifically worded to not finish the day second in votes. I can see Why Kark feels it is a grey area, but I just don't know that it merits discussion. This isn't going to get us closer to finding scum.

I find it more interesting that we have a few people that haven't appeared since day start and several more that haven't actually tried to participate in a meaningful way.
