Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer 4 vs 1 horror game, it got insanely popular from almost no attention at all. It has sold over a million units, and just announced within the last 24 hours they are adding Michael Myers and a Halloween-themed house stage for halloween!

“This is probably the most exciting thing I’ve had to say, and this is the first time I’m ever talking about it, so I’m a little nervous. You’ll have to forgive me.” Mathieu Cote, the producer of Dead by Daylight, has just returned from Twitchcon in San Diego, where he has spent several days meeting and chatting with some of the biggest fans and most popular streamers of their hugely successful multiplayer slasher sim, all while sitting on the most significant piece of news about the game since its launch. “I met a lot of really cool people and everybody was very excited about the game and I was unable to tell them anything that was upcoming.”

Now Cote is finally able to unveil his big surprise for the first time. “We had talked at the very beginning about licensed killers [and] survivors, because obviously we’re so inspired by general culture and popular culture and things like that. A lot of people were screaming for all their favourite movies and franchises to be folded into our game,” he explains. Thus far developers Behaviour Interactive have avoided this, on account of wanting to establish their own world and horror fiction. But the next update will change that, seeing the first licensed content to arrive in Dead by Daylight’s grisly world. “We are visiting Halloween for Hallowe’en.”.

For its Hallowe’en update, Dead by Daylight will let players assume the role of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode from John Carpenter’s groundbreaking film, while also introducing a new, suburban themed map (which, as with all of Dead by Daylights new maps, will be freely available to all players). “We wanted to make sure the first one we put in, would be a critical one,” We wanted to go for one of the more iconic and impressive figures of horror. I mean, I think Michael Myers is one of the most recognisable villains in movie history,” says Cote.

"for Halloween" and also to compete with similar game Friday the 13th coming out (supposedly) this month :p

Both games look great! Hopefully Myers is a permanent addition to the game.
13th is a lot more focused on positioning (as when in the hold of Jason, a counselor can break free without the help of someone else), going off of what we've seen

There's no way. I Kickstarted it and I haven't even gotten the beta access. So unless I'm missing something, it's not this month. Maybe the beta is and I missed the email? I would love to be wrong about this lol.
They're still claiming its this month apparently despite the lack of date and real promo

As someone who loves anything Halloween and MM (ehhhh cancel out H: Resurrection and RZ's shitfest movies lol).....

My man... you know trick or treat studios has the Elrod essentially H1 mask out now. Giant Michael Myers and Halloween fans myself, barring Kung Fu Busta Rhymes Resurrection and the trash that was Zombies movies.

Neat. I've been watching streams off and on of this game waiting to jump in. This could help seal the deal. Waiting for actual good game play of Friday the 13th is what is making me wait before taking the plunge as others have said as well. That stuff from E3 left me far from satisfied. Kills looked cool, but it skipped over too much of the overall game for you to know how it is really going to play out to make me feel comfortable being a backer.

Paid DLC aw what the shit. I guess I've been spoiled by other devs but I really expected this to be free.
Dead By Daylight's structure is that maps are available for free and you can face the killer even if you don't buy the DLC, but to play as a killer/new survivors it is paid DLC. The first DLC they did (the one with the nurse monster) was the one they said they'd do for free, and then paid DLC after that.

But you can still face Michael Myers and play on the Halloween map without buying the DLC, you just can't play as Michael Myers or Laurie.

Yeah it wasn't really rational on my part to expect Michael Myers to be free, I get why it's this way and don't really blame the devs for it. At least the map is free that was honestly my bigger concern, the old "splitting the user base" conundrum.

Some of the negative Steam reviews are crying about Mike being OP though. I hope that's just a knee jerk reaction and this isn't a road down pay 2 win.

Anyway I don't mean to be all negative. This is super cool DLC, I gotta check out that map!

DLC is great and Myers brings a very cool playstyle to the game both from a killer and survivor perspective. At the moment, I don't think he's OP. Maybe one of his perks is but you can earn that eventually w/o even owning the DLC.

Myers has gave me a scare more times in this game than any other game or movie has in 15 years.

DBD is on sale at it's lowest pricepoint on steam too. Healthy community as well, any time of the day/night.

You CAN play as Myers via something you buy in the bloodweb with your bloodpoints w/o buying the DLC.

Really enjoying this. Picked it up because the Friday the 13th beta is ending and I was sad about it. I'm loving leveling up a Micheal and Laurie. Good stuff.

Michael's stalking and obsession mechanics are really neat.
