Since Dead Rising 4 released on Dec. 6, players have killed over seven billion zombies, eclipsing the population of planet Earth. You've also taken over three million photos and selfies, eclipsing most of the Kardashian family on any given weekend.

To offer current players further engagement with Frank's world, I'm excited today to announce that we're introducing two new game difficulty modes and releasing a Street Fighter outfit pack, both free to all players. This is accompanied by a patch fixing several bugs we've been tracking since launch.

To attract new players to Dead Rising 4, we are also releasing a one hour timed trial.

The mayhem continues with two all-new difficulty modes

Frank will need to be a lot more careful and aware of his surroundings when trying to survive on a higher difficulty. Enemies do more damage; Frank's weapons break faster and food restores less health than before. Keep your eyes peeled, watch your back, and don't forget to scrounge for every weapon – you are going to need them.

The new difficulty modes will be available to players on Jan 30.

Frank West Meets Street Fighter

While in game, just visit your wardrobe and you will find these five outfits for your ultimate zombie fighting experience.

The outfits will be available in game on Jan 30. Handsome fighters never lose battles!

Play for Free with Limited Timed Trial

For those that have yet to face the horde in Dead Rising 4, we're excited to announce the availability of a 60-minute timed trial experience for Xbox One. The trial will allow new players to earn achievements and carry saved game progress into the full game should they decide to purchase at the end of the trial period. Players can experience both single player Story Mode as well as Multiplayer during the trial period.

The timed trial experience will be available beginning Jan 31.

Dead Rising 4 Releases in Germany

Xbox One and Windows 10 PC players in Germany will be able to purchase and play Dead Rising 4 from the Microsoft Store on Jan. 31, marking the first time a Dead Rising title has been available in the market. We can't wait for new players to get their hands on the game. For players wishing to purchase the full packaged product of the Xbox One game, look for retailers to begin offering it in late February.

To all our dedicated Dead Rising fans and players, we thank you for your feedback. We listened to what you have asked for and added the new difficulty modes and achievements to go with them.

And to those that have not jumped into Dead Rising 4, go ahead jump into the Xbox One timed trial and Let the Slay Ride Begin.

And to those new players in Germany, ”Wilkommen in der Welt von Dead Rising!"

Can't say I played dead Rising and wanted a harder experience. The aggressiveness of the AI means this mode will probably be broken.

Good thing no one is forcing you to use the new difficulties then.

Why don't they say what the bugs are. There are some pretty major ones that lock you out of certain trials and make important NPCs disappear causing you to have to start over

Has it been rated in Germany? Wow. If violent zombie games make it through the USK now I may finally say we have left the era of overzealous censorship behind.

Now unban DR1 and DR2 too.

Edit: Seems that way:

Not really to place for it. Its the news part of Xbox.
Sure the devs will say it on their forums etc when the patches drops. :)

thank god for a patch, I've been playing this game far longer than it deserved and was getting more and more annoyed they hadn't put out a patch that fixed a lot of the bugs I've encountered

Yeah. I had to restart Chapter 1 right at the tail end of it because I killed the final enemy sooner than the game would register me completing the objective, and wasted a bunch of time futilely trying to get the objective complete to trigger before looking to the internet for a resolution. I'm meticulous with my playthroughs (I collected everything in the mall and was over-leveled already) and DR4 isn't designed to incentivize restarting, so there was no silver lining to the bug forcing me to replay the opening chapter. I spent the rest of the game hesitant and disillusioned. That's not even taking into consideration how uninteresting and monotonous I found this sequel to be compared to the original Dead Rising I keep pining for.

This stopgap update does nothing for me, and I'm unsure about the upcoming mini-golf. I hope Capcom Vancouver brings it with Dead Rising 4's DLC chapter. The timer itself wasn't why I loved DR, but I appreciate what it might signify - I hope the DLC chapter is relative return to form. I don't want to give up on this series. Give me meaningful exploration, discoveries and interactions and eccentric story characters and absurd "psychos" in surreal scenarios with comedy more charmingly bizarre like the original DR that's integral/consistent to the overall ambience of the game. Less of this dry story/characters stuff with the comedy there being Frank making quips, and then during gameplay hosting window dressing that's now so blatantly wacky like a latter Saints Row.

aaaaaand the devs of DR4 further demonstrate that they have no fucking clue what the DR fanbase wants.

"Everyone is upset that the timer is gone and it's an easier game" "uhhhhhh lets make enemies do double damage and have weapons break faster, that's the same right?!"

Thats how it works. Look at Thief 4.

DR4 is like half a good game, and it feels like the half of the game that's not there is everything they cut out from the past iterations.

But to be fair this patch is probably the quickest way they could remedy at least one of the game's main problems, which is that it's too easy. Not even sure how you'd 'patch in' a timer mechanic in DR4. DR4 doesn't even have escort missions or psychos.

I'm also not sure I'd blame the devs for the mess that is DR4, but Capcom themselves.

How so? I wasn't following the development closely, mistakenly.

Ironically, I've become the kind of consumer that waits for final patches and GOTY editions to be reduced priced on most AAA games. The Christmas theme of DR4 tricked me into thinking that it'd have personality (despite signs of it being generic) and I liked the idea of playing the game on Christmas day (so there were a few weeks where that significant Ch1 glitch I encountered could have been patched before I played it). The game is so, so buggy the whole way through. I picked a bad game launch to throw myself at with reckless abandon.

Finished it yesterday didn't encounter any bugs but I wasn't going for a 100 % playthrough either. It was fun for what it was I didn't mind the removal of the timer at all didn't like it in the previous DR games though either so perhaps I'm in the minority here also. Only thing I'm bothered about is the paid DLC for the real ending, that's a dick move.

Exactly!

I was coming in here expecting them to have done a DmC style remaster where they fix the core problems... instead I saw what they actually did. Jeez, I almost had hope for this game for a couple of seconds there.

I don't think the current map could support a classic DR timer.

So... You can't change the difficulty on an existing save. I believe you have to restart the entire game to play it on Hard or above. That sucks so so much and is a crazy oversight.

Are we sure it is not Civilbots we are fighting and the fluid they are leaking is oil?

Just checked. You can start a new game with the same character and keep all trials and collectibles.
