Well, didn't most reviewers flown out to Japan? I guess if I got a free trip to Japan, I would give it a good review score too.

I mean, it's probably decent, but if they weren't all paid reviews it would likely have a mid-80's score.
Source please.

I know that Dan Ryckert from Giant Bomb was flown out there. I recall others on some podcasts I listened too also went out there but I'm not sure who they were off the top of my head.
There was a round of previews a while ago that quite a few journo's went to. That all as far as I'm aware. Normal for a game.

I watched a review that said it's basically just a rehash of the first game, so I decided to stay away from it. Apparently, since players are already experienced from the first game, playing online made things way too easy — the world is filled with roads, bridges, and ladders. The reviewer also pointed out that the enemy AI is weak, and you can often reach your objectives without fighting at all, making the combat mechanics feel unsatisfying. The whole loop of going from point A to B, listening to a hologram, getting a quest from the hologram, and then going to point C to meet another hologram just doesn't seem like fun to me. I'm really surprised that players are loving this. I feel like I'm missing something, so I want to give the first game another try at some point — but I guess this series just isn't for me. I'm more excited for a new MGS game that Konami will make.

The scale is out of whack. Seems like a lot of people see metacritic between 70 and 80 as mediocre and anything below 70 as just bad. What's the point of the scale when only the top 30% of it is acceptable?
So whackjobs who see 70-80 mediocre probably follow the upper graph. They are either troll or really out of their minds.

We live in a world that no one gets satisfy from anything. Everyone is just unhappy. Just sad really.

The only magazine that followed the bottom one was Edge back in the day.

I got to the part in the first game where you can start building roads and stuff, I was enjoying it but got away from it, should finish it. It was a lot of fun using the gun that lassos enemies.

I'm not even surprised, the first game was great.

Yes, on paper it was boring and repetitive but somehow it worked and i'm glad over time more and more people realised it and gave positive word of mouth to encourage others to do the same.

This looks the same but on steroids, that's all it needed to be.

So, then why are you and others talking about it no longer being a PS Exclusive?

The series is no longer exclusive.
This game, is an exclusive to PS5 for now and i'd guess it will remain at least for 1 more year.
If you ask me, it should count as a PS5 exclusive for 2025.

It's a complicated case with Dearh Stranding and i guess they allowed Kojima to have it his way because he is who he is.

i think of death stranding as being somewhat similar to ico, a genuinely unique, original experience, & i'm not sure i'm personally any more interested in playing a sequel than I would've been in playing ico 2... anyway, as you were...

at this rate DS2 will come to Xbox before OD.

Like every other first-party game, such as Ghost of Yotei.

I've heard a rumor from several sources that this game features ultra-realistic boobs the like which have never been seen before in a video game. Anyone seen any references to boobs? Particularly, white, bouncy boobs with pale nipples.

If it makes sense for them financially, i'd say yes.

No, you are changing the topic again and you keep pushing this idea that Sony is going third party and the #SonyToo bullshit.
They are porting some games to PC years after release on PS5.

But with DS2 is different because they do not control what Kojima does with the IP after their contracts ends. Let's not forget that Sony wasn't the PC publisher for the first game.

Wrong. Kojima only cares about feet so ultra-realistic that

You don't know if they're not the publisher of the future PC version, it's pointless to use DS1 as a reference as 1. it's a case by case basis and 2. Sony was notably not a PC publisher in 2015, when they sold Kojima the PC publishing rights. They were already clear in that a 505 Games-published PC version of DS1 was coming even before the original PS4 version launched in November 2019, while that's not the case this time around.
And again, IP ownership =/= publishing rights. Kojima owns the IP, but he doesn't necessarily own DS2 itself as a game. Stellar Blade is an example of Sony owning the game while not owning the IP, as they also published the PC version like most other first-party games.
And I'm not pushing any #SonyToo BS, I'm literally hated by some people here by defending Sony lmao, I'm just stating that it's not different from Ghost of Yotei inevitably getting a PC port in a year or so.

I think I'll get this on a sale down the road. I'm in no rush. I'm really far behind in just 2025 releases already. Not to mention the 30+ from years 2024 and prior.

Plus I'm hoping to snag a Switch 2 and play a bunch of my Switch backlog too, lol.

That's because most games reviewed are in that scale of 8-10.
Really bad games are not reviewed. it's the steam shovelware

Will be insteresting to see how Sony will aproach PC releases moving foward. I'm sure that they have release Spider-Man 2 on PC faster than expected because of the Insomniac leak (the game was already playable on PC lol).

For the first time in a long time we are not seeing Playstation major execs talking about PC (I can remember Jimbo and Hulst talking over and over about this a few years ago).

this is what happen when you let a passionate team do its own thing without forcing them (they couldnt as sony dont own them) to do Gaas shit. same thing happenened with HD2. a passionate project, not an order.

of course they wont understand any of this. "ds2 is an exciting game!" fucking managers.

Are we doing the 'game funded, produced and published by Sony teaching Sony a lesson' thing again? 🤣

That's just marketing.

8-9 months and this thing hits pc.
I'm not talking about Death Stranding 2, but Sony games in general. But I'm also curious to see if Death Stranding 2 will really launch PC this soon. The first game was announce to PC even before the PS4 release, and until now nothing was said about Death Stranding 2 on PC.

This thread is going EXACTLY like how I was expecting it to go, DS1 flashbacks all over again, it's got everything, from the usual "Kojima iis a hack/he likes smelling his own farts", to "this will come to other platforms" (let's not kid ourselves we all know what they mean) to cross posting from the DF thread whether the PS5 Pro is a scam or not to...

Fuxking hell dudes, aren't people tired of this shit by now ? 😁

Yeah, it was just previews, but if they all were flown to Japan.....I'm sure that influenced their scores
Just like the Redfall preview event influenced Redfall scores right?

The overwhelming majority of reviews today did not attend that event. Doesn't look like this game needs any help. Behave.

If the writing is as dumb/on the nose silly shit like the first one then no thanks. I wasted my time with DS1 and had to endure one of the stupidest, most cringy final hours of any game I've ever played.

So - writing, combat, bosses, quests. Those are the things that need fixing. Are they fixed?
