Was it totally epic 10/10 maximum cringe?

It was just a silly side mission. Really not big a deal :p
Its just overdone at this point. I laughed my ass off when he popped up in Ground Zeroes but rolled my eyes in PW and MGSV. His cameos used to be more subtle.

Oh God I hope Kojima doesn't appear in this game. His cameo in MGSV was cringe worthy to say the least.

He appeared in a single side mission in a game which consisted over 150. Was his appearance so cringe-worthy that you'd rather we were given an additional Mine Clearing op in its place? He was just trying to have some fun. The only thing I wish had been done a bit differently was the interaction between he and Venom, given it had been done in the same manner in Ground Zeroes.

Haven't read through the whole thread, but I have been chatting it up with a buddy today.

I wonder if this game is what is on the other side. It was like he ended up on the shore where things end up when they die. Maybe very few "wake up".

Wonder if those figures in the sky are deities of some sort. Would be a unique take to it all.

Boss, I never really asked you this and I only want you to respond with a yes or no. Were you disappointed with MGS5? Only a simple yes or no would do.

On a side note, do you remember, it was amazing discussing Team A , Team B during MGS5 launch? Amazing days right?

Gameplay best ever.

Graphics amazing.

But overall yeah i was but i know it was Konami's fault and Death Stranding will prove that.

Yeah the hype train for MGSV here was an unforgettable experience.

Seriously, the hype for The Phantom Pain during the last few months was truly unique. It was really the only thing I was thinking about during the last few months of the game's release.

Indeed. Missing those days :(

Do you think Death Stranding will beat that level of Hype?

As for me, I am not sure. The hype for DS is no way near MGS5...the hype behind just the MGS5 "announcement" was insane. DS is no where close I think.

Your thoughts. guys?

It was silly, stupid and took away from the experience IMO. We were being told that MGSV was some seriously moody game that we should take serious and the BAM!!! A wild Kojima appears.

On a side note. MGS is my favourite franchise ever so don't worry I still liked it.

The hype for MGS V was crazy. Unmatched by any game other than MGS 4.

After the bad Nuclear trailer of 2014, Kojima gave us this a year later. The hype was entering its final stage. But then in August, like two weeks before the game release, Kojima gave us one final trailer. I shit you not, I got teary-eyed just watching it. The song mixed to the images of the past games made me think "yup, this is it. This is the end of this franchise. It's been a ride."

It's such a goddamn shame that the narrative of the game was a let down. I was expecting MGS4-levels of narrative and closure. We didn't even get half of that. Or a third, even.

More than anything else in gaming, I wish Kojima had had an additional year of development. MGS V should have been released next month, in September of 2016.

Here's hoping Kojima can fully realize his vision with his new game, unshackled by the bullshitery of Konami.

Brand new IP + No info = No hype
The game is still under our radar only because of Kojima and Reedus,at least in my case.
Interest will increase when they start to show gameplay and details about the story, the game is just a group of ideas inside Kojima's head right now.

But that happens in every MGS game. Usually something serious is undercut by something silly moments later.

To be fair, MGSV actually manages to keep most of its silliness in the side stuff. Previous Metal Gear games always interjected craziness into the main story, even if it didn't fit.

I'm glad for Kojima that he's getting some actors who he personally admires on board. He must be in heaven given that he's such a film/TV nerd.

However, as a fan of his games and as a player, I'm not going to be playing this game based on the celebrities involved. So I hope he doesn't put too much emphasis on the star power side of things.

Mads' roles in Casino Royale and Hannibal made me think he'd be a good fit for a Kojima game long before any hints of his involvement with Death Stranding. I think (rather, safely assume) he'll be an antagonistic figure who loves to play mind games with the player.

It's probably an updated version of the infamous engine too. Considering second son is a bit old and all first parties share tech. Which is pretty exciting graphics wise. Let's see what kojima churns out

While that's super cool for Kojima that kinda makes me even more hyped for the next game from sucker punch. Doesn't have to be a rushed launch title, already have experience with the hardware..ooooo baby can't wait

Infamous: Second Son (and First Light) is one of the most underrated games this gen graphic-wise. From lighting and models to effects and ... it still looks amazing, even without considering it's not a linear game.
Just look at Delsin model:

Looked at my screenshots and found a screenshot that looks a little like last seconds of Death Stranding trailer:

Absolutely. Even as someone who went into SS/FL as a non-fan, it felt really gripping in large part due to the tech backing the game. I was really impressed by the facial and body animations being captured in tandem, it really helps set those games apart.

I could believe it. Like Yong, something about the textures and lighting definitely remind me of Second Son.

Also, holy shit if Kojima managed to get Mads. That's a great get.

It wasn't something I could identify on my own, but you're spot on. The fact that an engine that produced a game as good looking as Second Son will have an extra two years of touching up going into Death Stranding makes it all the more exciting to see how the final product turns out.

Truly. Mads is a marvelous actor.

I've never really been a fan of his games, but Hannibal and Darrell? Sure why not?

Given Kojima's passion for generating fanfare, I'm guessing he'll make some sort of public statement regarding his engine of choice soon. Maybe around TGS. Undoubtedly, we'll see more of Death Stranding at The Game Awards since he'll be there anyway and loves making as big a splash he can, especially at the events targeted towards a broader audience such as TGA. Expecting a teaser featuring Mads by year's end.

I'd expect anything at the end of the year to be shown at PSX. The rumor/theory was that Sony planned to close PSX 2015 by bringing Kojima out and announcing the partnership. But Konami blocked it which is why Paragon ended up being the final game.

That's really interesting. Didn't know they had anything planned for a presentation last year but hopefully they are able to make it happen this time around. I think missing out on last year's events really helped him cherish those sorts of things that much more. You could tell how excited he was to be back at E3 even though only two years had passed since his prior appearance. I know he'll be happy to be a part of TGA and PSX.

I can't really see Sony/Sucker Punch porting their engine over to PC just for one game.

But if it ever was going to happen, it would probably be for Kojima.

Now that just reminds me I want another Sucker Punch game now and demand its whereabouts with a sharp protractor...

In the meantime, imagining that level of graphic fidelity in a concentrated, more linear game world..!! mindblown.gif

Second Son engine is awesome [and already openworld-optimized]. It was made for a launch window game, which means it was far from ready to take full advantage from PS4 hardware. The next game from Sucker Punch will surely have much better tech.
