GT4 or DMC3 would be the best options but it depends on what type of game you like
Well, my collection has a bit of everything. All the candidates are in genres I enjoy.
A game I just finished -- but intend to play through again cuz it rocks so much -- is Resident Evil 4. Wario Ware Touched! was my next acquisition after that.
In all honesty, I enjoyed the original DMC, and while I passed on DMC2 -- heard it was wicked easy and just not as inspired as the first -- I've got to admit my jaw dropped when I saw the first trailer for DMC3 (with Dante whooping all those reaper-like demons in his office). However all the talk of an insane difficulty and unfair checkpoint system has me worried. I like a game that's challenging, but not overbearing (like RE4, for example).
Gran Turismo 4... Oh man. Everything I've seen on the game looks hot, but if the gameplay progression is exactly like prior entries, I can see myself losing interest fast; I never really felt driven to master GT's style of play (real, calculated driving versus balls-out, pedal-to-the-metal driving found in RRV, Daytona 2001, etc.). That and the fact you have to race a shitload just to get the credits for better cars (unless they've upped the award amounts for this one?).
I know it's not really in contention from the replies I've seen so far, but Yoshi's Touch and Go!, I've heard, is just a clever little title rife with the Nintendo magic. At least that's what someone I know at Play Magazine told me. I've got to admit that I'm a lot more pleased with the DS than most of the critical gaming public. So naturally, something new to play on that tickles my fancy (bring on Nintendogs, NoA!).
As for Tekken 5... I've loved every Tekken to date (even that bastard, red-headed step-child, T4). I'm definitely impressed with what I've seen in screenshots, although oddly enough, videos left me a little less enamoured; some of the effects like floors breaking was done so much better in VF4. Not to mention that everybody seems to say it's a lot more offense-minded than prior entries. I don't play Tekken for the strategy, but I'm one of those stick and move type players. Sounds to me like I might be in for a surprise (i.e. it not being as effective anymore).
Of all the contenders, Jungle Beat is perhaps the one with the most old-school fun appeal. Granted, there's a handful of "Gorilla" rank songs on Konga I can't quite beat. Does enjoyment of JB require you to be an absolute bongo guru?
At this point, it seems to be between Tekken 5 and Jungle Beat.
