And in attempting to determine the source of the pictures, we found that rather than being made entirely of Bungie-supplied art, at least two pieces had been lifted from places like DeviantArt.

...

Bungie has confirmed to Kotaku that the document and some of the art is genuine, and is somewhat representative of the game.

Leaked materials provided to IGN by a reader have revealed story details and concept art from Destiny, Bungie’s follow-up to the Halo franchise. Bungie has confirmed to IGN that the document was prepared by an advertising agency and represents an outside look at Destiny’s plot, key values and more.

Take Our Jobs...If You Dare!
Join Bungie!

Go ahead. Take a peek. It’s alright. We weren't quite ready, but we will be soon, and we can’t wait to finally show you what we've really been up to.

Stick around, we haven’t even started yet.

Also it's almost assuredly at the VGAs:

To be clear, most of this (sans what is on Bungie's page) seems to be contractor art:

These are NOT our images. Not Bungie art. IGN should have already clarified.

Not wild about it being an online game. It's a pain in the ass to align my schedule with that of my friends', because we live around the world.

I love the sound of a more light-hearted, Star Warsy science fantasy game from Bungie. There's room for a little levity and adventure in this market so dominated by "serious" games that are impossible to take seriously.

Really great art. Let's hope it isn't muddied by being an MMO*. The premise seems interesting enough -- though I wish attacking the large ship wasn't such an immediate goal.

Edit: Misread. Hope the role of the ship is interesting.

They're making a MMO right now and it's slated for 360/PS3?

lol by the time they're actually ready to ship, we'll be well into next gen most likely.

perhaps suggesting that Destiny will be less mature than Bungie’s efforts with Halo

lol, ign what, shooting and cartoony aliens in halo is already not mature, hmm.

that concept art is pretty awesome.

"Oopsie! We accidentally leaked! Gee I hope nobody in the public realm sees it and gets excited about our upcoming game!"

...perhaps suggesting that Destiny will be less mature than Bungie’s efforts with Halo. A quote from Bungie co-founder Jason Jones says “Destiny is designed for your inner seven year old. We want to make it feel like a mythic adventure.”

Totally down with this. I've always felt my particular love for Halo stems from the fact that, of all the video games I've ever played, it's the one that most conjurs up my childhood memories of spending weekends at my grandma's house in 29 Palms/Yucca Valley trudging around the desert pretending I was on a far flung world blowing away aliens. Which is probably why I liked it even more than Marathon.

Now, if I can just cling to the hope that this game has some form of at least semi-robust support for people who prefer to roll solo.

If they pull off what they are trying to pull off, I'm cool with people saying that Halo 4 makes Bungie's efforts look bad, because I'll be able to retort with Halo was holding Bungie back.

But... I cannot reiterate enough how much I hate social-based gaming.

I wonder if Bungie was going to show this at the Spike VGAs.

Still thinking this game ends up being a consolized version of Planetside 2. Also since its Bungie it will be easy to get into and you won't have to watch 40 tutorial videos like in Planetside 2 so you know what the fuck your supposed to be doing.

I totally agree. This could be a dream game for me.

Forgot this game was going to have a campaign. Hopefully it has great execution, but I'm not putting too much faith in that.

I love the art that I'm seeing.

Hopefully Bungie comes up with something interesting and fun to play now that they're no longer busy screwing up Halo.

Although if it indeed turns out to be MMO and "social to its core," as the article suggests, then they can take a hike.

God please Bungie save us from Halo 4. This sounds fantastic, but I want to see what this actually looks and plays like.
