Developing a Gaming Addiction will help cure my PMO Addiction!

I have this crazy idea that I'm gonna finally do in order to destroy this destructive addiction once and for all.

This is a rather serious thread that discusses things which may trigger you. Reader's discretion is advised.

PMO stands for Porn Masturbation Orgasm, I believe. I've had this issue ever since I was in my early teen years and developed a rather compulsive habit from it. It's been haunting me ever since and despite the relative success that I've had in my life, I still believe I could've accomplished more in life if I didn't suffer from this fatal flaw. Today, i realized that gaming and gaming alone is the only thing that will keep me away from this horrible habit that I wasted years and energy into.

Not only will my PMO addiction be vanished, but my backlog problem will be solved as well. To give you context on this rather unusual decision, I've been choosing porn as my main source of dopamine/endorphins release. Gaming gives a similar effect but not as strong as PMO.

This is not a troll thread. It's rather embarrassing for me to speak about but I thought I'd share it with GAF despite the expected backlash that may come with it.

I will respect your opinions on this matter and I hope I find your insights to be useful in my journey to recovery. It's been a journey full of ups and downs but I believe in my heart that gaming will replace this PMO habit permanently.

In all seriousness, I've had some success in the past few years with this. Personally, I really need things to distract me and take up my time. I have projects that I work on, and I workout, and obviously gaming is a huge part in that. Too much free time is the biggest issue. Find things to do and invest your time in. That's your best bet imo.

Have you tried Ultraman's vibrator in your therapy? AFAIK Conan O'Brien failed to steal it.

Anyway I would recommend to stop eating sugars and start a carnivore diet. Also do not spend time alone (go to public spaces) if you do not have anything to do.

The sugars free diet definitely helps, but what's a carnivore diet? I'm a loner with no friends in the country I'm residing in. Only with my brother and mother living in an apartment. I spend most of my days inside my room.

bro sapien is this a no fap thread??? im a beast at no fap. it all comes down to diet u just gotta cut down on the meat products/cholesterol/eggs and eat more fiber and veggies and beans and nuts and seeds like almonds/flax/chia seeds especially flax seeds that sh!t is beneficial for killing desire. but sometimes u gotta ramp up ur energy and ull need to crush some egg yolks and eat more burgers and eat more rice but limit that to every other day. anyways with all that fiber in ur system and the digestion u aint gonna wanna fukk nothing or look at anything itll stay in ur system for like 30 to 36 hours until u eventually sh!t out and then u gotta start over

carnivore diet do u want fukkin cancer and disease ??? stay the fukk away from that shit u gotta go green best be vegetarian on most days honestly. i go vegetarian every now and then and my desire is strate up gone within like a few days but u become more fatigued easily and since i gotta physicaly job i eat like a extra lean quarter pounder burger every other day

still ur best best is to be vegetarian on most days stick to nonfat yogurt and u can have some egg yolks i guess u won't be that horned up since ur getting less protein and iron in and ur getting more fiber in.

read dr fuhrmans eat to live and the end of heart disease and plant based nutrition for dummies. ull have lower testosterone and u won't have as much energy but on days when u gotta do a lot of physical work its fine to get a burger in. also this guy nimaii delgado has an instagram:

but hes vegan and I don't recommend a straight up vegan diet u can try it out for a couple weeks if u like just to see how it is but i don't recommend it since its hella harder to get work done if u gotta work a lot. a vegetarian diet with nonfat yogurt will help u out.

I think the "pornfree" way (also a subreddit) is healthier. The problem is with porn, not with masturbation which is healthy and normal. Trying to separate the P from the MO is a much more realistic goal.

Yeah, most of the time though the porn leading to the M tends to warp the brain so while harder it's best to try for PMO, I think at one point I had got up over 4 months before succumbing. My issue is that i love the female body :messenger_tears_of_joy: way to much. Too nice not to look at...and well we end up back at square one.

If anyone is really honest with himself, he can recognize and admit that most of the people in the porn and prostitution industries are severely fucked up and that it's essentially just preying on damaged people. No one is doing that shit if they seriously think they have better options. A ton of them are simply addicts doing whatever they need to do to keep the drugs coming in.

It’s a very sensitive subject. I’ve heard that porn is the leading cause of Erectile Dysfunction. The reason: it’s easily available and you aren’t having to use VHS tapes or magazines. I was listening to a health podcast and they said that doctors are seeing more and more cases of ED in men and the main cause of their masturbation was porn.

While it is true that certain addictions are preferable to others, let's say exercise instead of heroin, the mechanisms behind them are often surprisingly similar. So have you thought about why you fall back on an addiction in the first place?

When you have such easy access combined with free time, of course every day will be a jackathon. I don’t think games will help since you’re still free to grab the phone or computer and just do it. I mean, it could, skyrim got my friend’s dad to quit being an alcoholic.

I don't think anything is gonna remove your urge to masturbate. But things will alter it:
  • Your exercise levels. I find the more strenuously I exercise, the hornier I get, while distance running/biking actually makes me calmer in a sexual sense. Playing around with this dynamic might help you masturbate less.
  • Find an actual lady to shoot your loads into. There's none of the emptiness/guilt feelings after having real sex.

You are dealing with some difficult shit, man.

First, it is not an addiction until it affects other aspects of your life as well. There is no rule about how often should a person masturbate. So, for example, if you masturbate "a lot" but doesn't have a negative impact on your life, you should treat it as a bad habit and not so much of an addiction.

Bad habits are easier to deal with because it's a matter of discipline while addictions are normally tougher because they are usually stronger than the person's will (so discipline is not useful).

So for example if you masturbate 3 times a day but otherwise have a regular life (job/school, friends, familiy, etc) you are probably suffering from a bad habit (a strong one if anything). There are techniques for this.

If you masturbate once a day but you do it in a way that interferes with your life (say continously arriving late to work, avoiding social interaction in order to satisfy your urges, etc) then you are probably an addict and I think it would be better for you to go to a support group or regular therapy (ideally with someone specialized).

Diets and all help but most people never really deal with an actual addiction during their lives so they have no idea how it can pretty much take over your life.

As someone with addiction in my history switching addictions never worked for me. All have resulted in problems in my life that are typically all very destructive. But that’s just me - not sure what will work for you.
