So, looks like the launch edition for Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker will include one extra bonus: some decals of the main characters.

This edition will include the game, a music CD and those decals, then.

Also, they're going to livestream the Triangulum Arc next Wednesday (March 11th, at 2.30PM PDT), on Twitch. Unless you've already completed the game, you might want to avoid watching that as it'll obviously be filled with spoilers.

Hate to sound like a broken record at this point, but any news if the durarara characters are still being cut from the english release? especially after the announcement of that sega anime fighter which has one of the durarara characters in it as well? Only point in me asking is that I wont spend Atlus taxed game if it doesnt have ALL the content its japanese counterpart has. (Hell if it dont , it'd seem like an ideal time to learn how to switch the dialog when the game releases with its japanese part since homebrew is a thing , then only translate the durarara portion which seems to be the hard part)

One of the most disappointing sequels I have ever played. Hopefully the added content is awesome, it certainly is massive enough.

edit: As for the decals, more 25c junk to make the extra 10$ Atlus tax more palatable.

I hate how they put more stuff in the retail version to try to justify the higher price tag, but then leave the digital version at the exact same price. It's like they're training people who prefer digital to just pretend like the game comes out 6 months later (when they start throwing it into their monthly 50% off PSN/eShop sale).

So is this related to the Devil Summoner Raidou stuff on the PS2 or is it its own thing?

Own thing. It's a Strategy/RPG.

I'll never get the SMT lineage

Devil Summoner is a spin-off of the SMT series that began in 1995 with Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner (unreleased in the West), continued with SMT Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, and then the two Raidou games (which themselves were quite different from the first two Devil Summoner games and might be considered a sub-series of a sub-series).

Devil Survivor is a relatively recent set of spinoffs (began on the DS) that are Strategy RPGs. This game is a remastered 3DS port of the DS original.

Ah damn, the first print stuff is always tempting. But at the same time the $59.99 price point here in Canada is really off putting.

SMT IV (strategy guide and soundtrack cd) -> Persona Q (tarot cards) -> Devil Survivor 2 (stickers).

They're weaning people down slowly. Next SMT game will be $50 with no bonus.

Alrighty, wished they would've given it a different name then to not be so damn confusing.

They do have different names (Survivor vs. Summoner) although they are admittedly close.

So from FFT->Disgaea on the spectrum of reasonable to get into to damn near Spreadsheet RPG, where does this stand?

It's a bit different than most Strategy/RPGs. Instead of individual units, you move small groups & when you attack an enemy, it switches to something more like a regular RPG.

Outside of combat, it's got a visual novel/S-Link thing going around. Unlike S-Links from Persona, your choices do have an effect on the main game's story (determining who joins your team and your ultimate path).

Some info about SpotPass/StreetPass:

SpotPass

We'll have several waves of SpotPass content rolling out once the game launches (schedule still TBD), but the immediate advantage will be a whole ton of new demons for players to fuse. So if you were looking for your precious Tyrant Lucifer Frost or Wilder Catoblepas, they'll be rolling out to players via SpotPass. Another bonus going out via SpotPass will be some skill add-ons. One of the hallmarks of the Devil Summoner series is cracking skills that are assigned from a communal skill pool, meaning players can't use the same skill on more than one character. Via SpotPass, players will be able to get a helpful magic skill, a powerful normal skill, and a recommended physical skill added to their skill pool. But that's all we're telling you about them!

StreetPass

When you StreetPass with other Demon Summoners, it will allow you to give various stat and skill bonuses to your own demons! But beware, the demon and the stat bonuses are chosen at random - use them wisely!

So once the game is launched, make sure to get out there and StreetPass as much as you can! Those stat bonuses can mean the difference in walking away from a fight the victor or getting swept up off the sidewalk by a Septentrione.

Also, the livestream starts in roughly 2h30!

Spot Pass in Japan included the Durarara characters, since they're not mentioned here that would be confirmation that they've been cut.

In Japan it was 2 waves of 6 demons, no idea what the skills they're talking about are though. The durarara charecter exclusive skills perhaps?

Demons should be Lucifer Frost, Dominion, Tokebi, Tschaggatta, Catoblepas, Okuninushi, Dantalion, Momunofu, Ishtar, Troll, Spriggan and Huoniao.

Most likely licensing issues, or it cost too much to licence them. the english DRRR licence is owned by Aniplex of America and I know they love to charge ludicrous amounts of money for stuff.
