Personally I'm really looking forward to the possibility of Bayonetta 1+2, Wonderful 101, and TMS on the Switch.

The Wii U has some amazing games that don't deserve to die buried alongside it.

TMS, Xenoblade X, DKC Tropical Freeze, Captain Toad, Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2, TW101, Smash 4 and many others come to mind. I'd double-dip on all of them on Switch, given the chance.
 
As long as they're released in tandem with new titles, there's really no downside in bringing them over. So many Wii U games that deserved better sales.

Exactly. Porting these over to the Switch is the best thing to do. Brazil knows what's up. 👍🏾
 
I don't know why anyone would complain about this knowing how little the WiiU sold while also knowing how good it's library is.

It literally makes no sense to complain about excellent games being released on a platform people are interested in if sales were initially low due to being on a platform people weren't interested in.

There are a great many reasons why the WiiU bombed. It's library is not one of them.
 
I'm not particularly interested, as my Wii U is right there next to my Switch and still works perfectly, but good for people that get to play them.

As long as we don't get too many months where the flagship Switch new release is a Wii U holdover (Looking at you, MK8D) I'm fine with it.
 
Yes this is good for me. I would like some of them to be at $20-$40 too rather than all full price

Also, Smash Bros is more important game than anything else that people listed so far. But I'm assuming that it probably get the Mario Kart treatment?
 
As long as the porting process doesn't take too many resources away from developing new games, I don't think anyone would be against the idea.
 
Even if the Wii U hadn't flop, the fact that its successor is also portable gives a whole new life to those (and previous consoles') games.

Give please.

It's not really strange at all when you consider the WiiU massively misread the market and also stumbled out of the gate with a terrible name. It doesn't matter how great your games are if no one wants the system.
 
I absolutely agree with the sentiment in the video. I want basically every got'danged Wii U game on Switch. The Wii U had a fantastic library (all things considered), and even having bought many/most of the games once already, some are good enough for even me to buy again, let alone a fresh set of eyes.

Outside of the Virtual Boy, you can always count on Nintendo to bring their A-game for their software even if the hardware fumbles.

I'm fully on board with the idea of porting the library.
 
I can not see a reason to say why it's a bad thing. The amount of time and money it takes to port a game is minuscule compared to a new game, and as everyone knows, the Wii U sold like shit and shit for all played any of the games on it.

It was like a cruise ship where you could hang out with many a beloved celebrity...if you didn't care that the ship was sinking.

As a day one Wii U owner, great by me if they Switch its goodies over.
 
Anything that gives those titles a chance at finding a new audience is fine by me.

In particular, I'd be right there for a TMS2...
 
It's not like there are a million more titles to port over. They may as well port the remaining quality titles over the next few years with a few minor updates. What else is left? Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta 2, Tokyo Mirage, 3D World, Xenoblade X, Smash, Mario Maker? Don't see the issue.
 
Yes it is a good thing because the switch is portable while the Wii U isn't. Portability can give a new meaning to many of those games. It isn't the same like porting a game from ps3 to ps4. And how many remasters did the ps4 have? Last of Us, Uncharted, God of War 3, all resident evils almost etc. Nobody said it was a bad thing there. Sure they are remasters but some of them barely had any difference and felt like a port.
 
Sigh. Obviously more games heading to the switch is terribad. Especially considered the number of people who missed out on it.

People should really be forced to buy wiiu's/seek out second units. What is Nintendo thinking.

Honestly, with them not doing a Smash port for the first year, I wonder if they're going to simply dive right into a new game that's based on the same tech. They can keep the roster from Smash 4 while making it a much bigger deal on the surface than they would if it was just a mere port with extras.
 
As someone who skipped the Wii and Wii U, yes. Bring on the enhanced ports.

Stuff like MK8 deluxe where there's substantial new content helps justify a full price tag I think, but for straightforward ports then yeah a budget version would be ideal.
 
Nintendo doesn't seem to be in the habit of just rereleasing old games (in retail) without some kind of additional justification for it, whether it be a new mode, new playable character, etc. As long as the work to transition these games isn't so daunting that it creates a delay in us getting new games in some of these franchises, I have no qualms. Just price appropriately.
 
It's great that people will get to ignore them all over again.

Half the games bombing had absolutely nothing to do with the install base.

Sometimes I feel like maybe Sakurai is just working on something else that isn't Smash.
 
Its an easy way to pad out Nintendo's first and second part release schedule. These games can be outsourced and ported over, workout taking many resources from birthday first and second party currently developing new titles.

Hopefully some will receive the Deluxe treatment as well.

I'm not sure how many more we see this year though. If something gets delayed though, I could see a couple of ports coming in. If Xenoblade, FE Warriors or something else gets delayed. I could see Bayo or TMS filling in nicely.
 
More options, wider availability = bad?

Not for consumers, at least. Perhaps for the legacy of the Wii U, but why should anybody be distraught about that?

It wasn't appealing hardware and it was overpriced. The name sucked. It got a bad rep early on and that's really all it takes to sink a system.

Also if you take into account it was on the market 5 years, it really doesn't have that many great games. I just hope Tropical Freeze gets ported as it's the best 2D platformer ever made and deserves better than the Wii U.

When you are looking at it in retrospect, it is easy to say it had many great games. However, the gap between those great game releases were enormous. Nintendo was spread across two platforms and couldn't prop up a system single-handedly.

The Switch will do better in that regard because Nintendo is narrowing its focus on one system instead of two. The Switch is selling better than the Wii ever did, so there is hope that it will actually receive some solid third party support that will fill in the gaps.
 
The Wii U has an amazing first party library and it was a flop. Those games should not be lost on a such an obscure and unpopular system.
