DF: More Wii U Ports Heading To Switch! Is This A Good Thing?

Sucks for WiiU owners if the console pretty much becomes obselete, but considering how few of them there are it's definitely a good move

... As someone who never bought a WiiU I hope they bring everything.

DF is better than that clickbait title.

On topic: I would love to see Nintendo port Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Maker, Pikmim 3, Super Smash Bros and Captain Toad Treasure Tracker.

I would love TMS. Not going to buy that for the WiiU and if i had it i wouldn´t play it on it anymore. Better hurry though, cause when it runs well on Cemu i´ll play it there.

I would rebuy almost every marquee Wii U game on Switch, but I especially pine for Tropical Freeze, Captain Toad, and Mario Maker.

They were a bit silly to write off Mario Maker though. In docked mode you can either use a Joycon as a pointer, wiimote style, or just use an on screen pointer. If LittleBigPlanet can function with just a controller, Mario Maker should have no problem.

And how many remasters did the ps4 have? Last of Us, Uncharted, God of War 3, all resident evils almost etc. Nobody said it was a bad thing there.

To be fair, people condemning ports for not being new games and somehow stopping them from happening is very common in any platform thread. Was even bannable at one point if I recall.

Seems strange that the Wii U had great games but it bombed.

Those games came out way too late and too far between to do anything for the Wii U. The switch in its first year is going to have a library in its first year that makes the Wii U's first few years look like a joke, and the Wii U had some third party software occasionally trickling in to supplement it. Its hard to get people excited about a system that's plagued with droughts and gaps in software support.

Why would it suck? The Wii U won't stop working.

Sometimes I feel like maybe Sakurai is just working on something else that isn't Smash.

It's possible, but it is a little suspicious that we've got Deluxe versions of Mario Kart 8 and Pokken as year 1 titles, yet Smash is nowhere to be seen. Even at a minimal involvement, I really doubt Sakurai would want something as simple as a port for the Switch.

you're kidding right?

I mean, I think he might not be entirely wrong...

Let's be honest, games like Bayonetta 2 and Wonderful 101 would of done better on other consoles but not that better, I think. The first Bayo was on two consoles people actually owned (360/PS3) and it only sold a little over a million, which was a sales disappointment to SEGA.

I can't watch the video right now but are they basically assuming the Bayo and W101 teases are legit? Is that just their speculation or do they seem to have inside knowledge about that?

Seems just speculation, which make it strange that the title uses an exclamation mark. It should be a ?

They're apparently putting stock into them being teases. No inside knowledge.

Its a bad thing. People that didn't buy the Wii U don't deserve to play the great games that were on the console.

Yeah, anyone who at any point didn't buy a console for whatever reason doesn't deserve to ever play its games.

Wii U was a dead system, and many of these games had almost no chance to catch on because of it. Releasing these games to see fan reaction on a wider base could help us see more entries in these franchises, which I have zero problem with.

I'm fine with that as long as there's a good balance between ports and new games. The PS4 has had quite a few ports/"remasters" as well, it's just kind of the way things are going now.

Port all of the single player stuff.

I'm iffy on the MP as I'd rather just get new entries at this point.

So port Bayo 1 & 2, but rather seem Mario Maker 2.0 vs just porting the Wii U variant.

It's a bad thing because the Wii U has no software of value and the sooner it's library can be completely lost to the sands of time, the better.

The only people who owned the Wii U were the die hard - queue for days for Amibo - crowd and they still wouldn't buy W101 of TF.

This is GAF though , the thread will be filled with people who would readily admit they'd probably just buy the same games on Nintendo hardware into perpetuity.

Yes. As long as 3D World makes it....I really dont want to buy a Wii U just to play it....

Okay yeah I agree, kind of a strange title when none of those are yet confirmed.

As of now we have 2 enhanced Wii U ports on the system, let's not count our chickens before they hatch.

That said I would 100% buy Bayo 1+2, W101 and Hyrule Warriors again. 75% DKCTF and Mario 3DW.
