Am I missing anything?

Edit: ah yes: TMS + Paper Mario

Might as well port them, Nintendo didn't exactly make much money with the Wii U releases.

As long as they bring the G Mario O A T to it, I'm happy.

Port the Rogue Squadron games, SSX Tricky, Eternal Darkness, and Gladius. Those were the best.

I don't know these Wii U things.

As a Wii U owner, I'm more excited for new titles on Switch than ports. I probably won't double dip on ports or "DX" versions of Wii U titles, but I don't see why having more high-quality titles in the Switch library is a bad thing.

I'd much rather see Wii, DS, and 3DS ports though, honestly. Games that really need the TLC. Wii U games already look plenty good as-is.

Gimme some Wii U ports of Super Mario 64 DS, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, and Excitebots. That'd be amazing.

That one would probably be a legal nightmare. I'd pay any amount for tarted-up versions on Switch.

It's absolutely a good thing, many of these games are some of the best in their respective franchises. These games have not been experienced by a lot of people and shouldn't be ignored. The Wii U ports we have so far are already good examples of that, see Mario Kart and Pokken Tournament Deluxe. Both are excellent games, and Pokken was something special that really shouldn't be missed.

I look forward to the other ports we are likely to see. I would expect these:

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE
Super Mario 3D World (less likely than the others)
Super Smash Bros.
Super Mario Maker (maybe Switch sequel instead)
Pikmin 3 (I'm not counting on this one either)
Bayonetta 1+2 (Platinum potentially teasing it)
Wonderful 101 (Platinum potentially teasing it, more concrete than Bayo)
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Star Fox Zero, but I don't see it happening unless they can somehow adapt the controls.

From now on, when I want to play a game but don't own the console I'll just bitch about marketing and nitpick the hardware until it gets ported. That's the takeaway here.

I know that GAF is made up of many people with diverse opinions, but it's still maddening that "I don't care how good the games are I'll never buy a Wii U" and "All Switch has are ports of Wii U games" seem to be getting equal play.

The Wii U had the strongest exclusive lineup of last gen full stop. It's great that these underplayed, underappreciated games are getting a new audience (and the ability to play on the go yeeeeeaaaaahhhhh).

Wasn't it retailed at $50? I only want Bayo 2 lol

Digital only separately I'd guess, just like Wii U.

The original release was $60 and was bundled with both games. They eventually did a standalone release of 2 for $30, effectively making the first game digital-only from that point.

Donkey Kong games would be great as there would now be options to get rid of motion controls. Any game that used motion controls I welcome a port that got rid of them and gave me the option to use the Pro Controller.

It's worthwhile to me as a Wii U owner only if they bring over new content (or content i simply didn't buy the first time. I skipped all the Mario Kart 8 DLC.) Pokken Tournament takes the right approach with this as well.

TW101 would be a different story, as that's one of the few big first party games i skipped over on Wii U outright, and now it's hard to find.

I think it's great

Imo ports and remakes/remasters are good for any platform - they're only perceived to be a problem when there aren't many new games releasing on the platform but ports aren't the cause of that. If anything surely it'd be worse to have months of nothing vs months of ports

The wiiU games will especially benefit since a lot of people wont have played them & it had some damn good games

You could also buy 2 only for $50 at launch. I think it might have been digital only?

I'm all for it, and I owned a lot of the games that will probably be getting ports. The Wii U had some great games that shouldn't be lost because of the system's failure.

Twin stick analog Prime is all I ever wanted. We can thank the terrible Gamecube controller for it not being a option from the get go.

It's strange how so many people want these Wii U games but never bought a Wii U during it's life cycle.

It's really not strange at all. The games were not the problem with the Wii-U, the Wii-U was the problem with the Wii-U.

Yeah, they had a program available on the eShop at the launch of the bundle where you could get 2 for $50 and only pay $10 for the first, or pay $30 for the first and get 2 for $30.

I still haven't seen a good argument against ports/remasters. It's mostly misplaced concern.

The positives outweigh any possible negative by miles.

So if 100 people have played a game, and 10,000 people have not (but want to), it shouldn't be remastered or ported to the Switch because those 100 people have played it before?

This group of people is very small. There is a market for these games that almost no-one has played.

What I'm ultimately saying is have a healthy 50/50 of old and new games. I'm not saying don't do it. I like this strategy of releasing a port and a month later releasing a new game. Again, don't be like Capcom.

I really think the Twilight Princess and Windwaker Wii U HD ports would be delightful.

I didn't get to play the Twilight Princess HD.

Metroid Prime Trilogy HD NEEDS to happen before Prime 4. It'll get people into the franchise who haven't gotten the chance before. Especially since a lot of Switch owners are lapsed Nintendo gamers

I don't have a problem with it. Lots of people skipped the Wii U and didn't get to play those games, and if you don't want them, you don't have to buy them. The biggest concern would be that it's taking resources away from creating and marketing brand new games, but it's more than feasible that a company can do both at the same time.

If the games are great, bring it on. Even if they are slightly enhanced, I'l still double dip on the Switch. The opportunity for more people to enjoy these games is great too.

Good luck finding a new one.

You can find refurbished ones for $200. I saw one on twitter that was $200 with a $25 gift card and nintendoland.
Dead Console, worse IQ and resolution, Gamepad and no portability.

1. Doesn't matter unless you want to play games online. Splatoon 1 is still active. I'm sure Smash and Mario Maker are too.
2. Spend $100 and wait 3 years for a resolution bump?
3. Gamepad isn't a minus, I'll detail below. Portability is legitimate but is not a huge deal when the games have a high power consumption, thus low battery life.

Additionally, the Wii U actually has benefits:
-Support of your wii controller and game backlog. Buying wiimote and nunchucks is cheaper than buying a set of joycons. This is actually something I want to come to switch.
-Dual screen features
-Miiverse. Switch tries to offload this feature onto twitter.
It also currently has netflix, hulu, and crunchyroll.

Anyone buying the Switch simply to play Wii U ports is insane.

didn't have a wii u so I'd be 100% down for some enhanced ports.

I would instantly buy:

mario 3d world
Tropical Freeze
Skyward Sword
smash
mario maker

I can see all of these happening too.
