DF: More Wii U Ports Heading To Switch! Is This A Good Thing?

I just want Bayo Collection and TMS Overclocked. Otherwise I'd prefer more PS360 ports (Vesperia, Okami HD, Valkyria Chronicles, Blue Dragon, Dark Souls 1, etc).
 
Port all of the games.

It gives people a chance to enjoy games that they might have missed out on because they weren't keen on jumping into a sinking ship of a console.

+easy to choose selection of great games to fill the lineup
+they know which ones are going to sell well already so there is no dilemma in choosing
+they'll look better, play better and smell better
+more $$$ to fund new titles

I can't think of a single reason how this could be a negative. Bring the whole first party line-up, release a couple at the beginning of each quarter and keep people excited for more. Cross-buy if you love your customers.
 
You know what, I want some WiiU ports. But they really should be like the New Play Control series on Wii and release them as budget titles. Except for Platinum, I'll pay full price for their games ports or not.

Oh, and they can skip the Zelda remakes.
 
Seems good to me, as long as well priced and there are also new games.

Hopefully most people are fine with this, because i had seen some whining when hd remasters are released on other platforms.

It would be nice if people had the digital game on wiiU to allow an affordable fee to play the updated version on switch.

I think this would be a great product to launch sometime in Q2 of next year, maybe around April or May after most people who are interested in Odyssey have already grabbed it and played through. I'd have to imagine that the fear of consumers getting Mario fatigue before Odyssey releases would factor into them not launching a game like this beforehand.

That said, I don't think they'd include that many titles in one product. I could definitely see something like "Super Mario Galaxies HD" which contains both Galaxy games launching for $49.99 or something. I'm sure they're aware of how successful Metroid Prime Trilogy was and that the success was largely due to the perceived value of the package, so I'd imagine we'll see at least a few similar offerings down the road.

The one argument against this, however, is that the Wii U was largely marketed as Nintendo's first HD system. That would've been a great opportunity to do a Galaxy HD remaster but it never happened, so maybe that ship has sailed. Then again, they did do HD remasters for Wind Waker and Twilight Princess so they're certainly not against remastering older, standard-definition games in principle.

Porting is USUALLY done by another team outside of the company/not the original team so how would it?
 
I skipped Donkey Kong and Bayonetta so those would be nice. Id also buy a Smash DX because I really didnt get to play it as much. cant think of anything else I would want.
 
A second chance for developers who didn't get to sell as much as they would have liked due to Wii U's low install base. Can't see a problem with that and would increase the chances of those games getting sequels.
 
The effort Platinum and Nintendo put into the Wii U don't deserve to die on that platform and everyone knows it. I could list a dozen excellent games that are stuck on there. The more that get a second life on the Switch the better.

I'd call them assumptions moreso than rumors. And I agree with you, I think it's unlikely given how the game sold.
 
How could it possibly be a bad thing? This gens Sony and Microsoft consoles were full of remasters and it's the fastest selling gen yet.

They're not buried though. I've played most of those. And others can, too.
 
Too bad there's no upgrade path if you've already purchased the games on the Wii U. I would've cared about this otherwise and would've made me pick up a Switch by now.

I bought all of these games when they came out. I hope more people get to play them.

Nintendo has been on a roll for years. They just didn't have hardware that people wanted.

Ports don't mean no new games.
BOTW is also new to anyone who picked up a Switch.
ARMS came out last month and it's made by some of the Mario Kart team. Still came out despite MK8D being ported.

Switch's first 9 month has around 9-10 retail games being published by Nintendo/Nintendo exclusive.
Of those 10 or so games, 2 are "old ports" despite having a lot of new content.

I think that's one with the smallest chance to come over, considering it fills the same gap as Super Mario Odyssey (even though gameplay is different, I know!). Same for Splatoon with Splatoon 2.
 
On the one hand...it's pretty great for certain games to get a second chance on a much more beloved platform (the Switch). On the other...it'd be pretty sad to me to see them adapted for the Switch and lose certain unique features they had for being on the Wii U first to take advantage of the Gamepad :[ I know this example isn't of a Switch port, but it's still a port of a Wii U game that took great advantages of the Gamepad imo, ZombiU, and ported it to other platforms (PC, PS4, I believe Xbox One as well) as Zombi, and in the process, gutted out several things out of the game and/or an entire mode (that sublime local multiplayer :[ ) that were possible because of the Gamepad (in case it wasn't clear, I'm a pretty big fan of the Gamepad, and of the things the Wii U attempted to do, and the Wii U system itself overall for the most part...the Wii U exclusive games, especially ones that took advantage of the Gamepad in fun and/or unique ways!, Miiverse, asymmetric local multiplayer, local multiplayer where 2 playes each have their own screens [one Gamepad, one TV screen, to minimize screen cheating even more!] etc...might make a thread about it!). Then again...there are quite a few Wii U games out there that don't use the Gamepad as much as the others...so those are the ideal candidates to port over, resulting in a more faithful adaptation for the Switch without losing unique Gamepad features and such

Entirely agree about more ports being a good thing. Having console-tier games on a handheld is awesome, and the Switch needs its library fleshed out while new titles are developed.
 
Hoping for SM3DW and DKC: TF to be ported as that will convince me to buy a Switch.

They seem different enough. Regardless, we got 2 Mario Galaxy's on the wii. 3d is the 3rd best selling wiiu game so people are clearly interested in the game.

I think the chances are pretty high.
 
A lot of people missed out on here games because no one wanted a Wii U. Hey re good games that deserve a second chance.
 
I have 6 games on my Wii U.
1. Bayonetta 2
2. Mario Kart 8
3. Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
4. Smash 4
5. Xenoblade Chronicles X
6. Pokken Tournament

Now 2 of those games are already available on the Switch, 1 is confirmed to be coming, 1 has been teased, and 1 is heavily rumored. I'm kinda tired of the ports but I do understand that not everybody bought a Wii U and not everybody that bought a Wii U may have played those particular games.
