Totally unacceptable. This is not how you treat someone who just spent sixty dollars on your game.

Take a look at Epic games and how they handled responses to the Sawed Off Shotgun. Rod Fergusson was nothing but courteous and respectful to the fans.

This isn't just a one case response. Multiple people have complained about this issue in the official thread.

The controls were awful in the beta. DICE are on crack.

Edit: wtf, the guy didn't even mention the beta. Demize is on even more crack than the rest of DICE.

To be fair... the guy was on crack.
I don't even care if he completed fabricated it. There's a way to answer it without being downright disrespectful to someone who paid for your product.

This is fine if you're talking to a friend, but it's not really something a PR person should say. It's still pretty insignificant.

It's not all that worse than calling a customer "crazy", if you're actually taking it literally. It's just an expression.

No problem whatsoever.
No problem with his reply? Or no problem with the game? There's been a couple of people in the BF3 thread playing on PS3 that have said the controls feel different from the beta. That they took a turn for the worse.

But to tell someone from the community "you're on crack" when the dude didn't say anything super offensive. That doesn't feel right to me...

Of all the crappy things EA have done recently and with regards to BF3, this is the least offensive.

He's not a PR person. He just does weapon balance. I'm sure he gives the actual PR people at EA the fits.

Is a personal statement on twitter representative of the company? So should an employee watch everything he says and do on a day to day basis. If he takes the public transit to work, and he reads the newspaper about an opinion piece about politics, and he picks a side and talks about it on twitter, does that mean it's also DICE's position in politics too?

Just wondering.

Edit: More specifically, the guy isn's doing an @reply to any Battlefield PR/official thread, but rather specifically targeting at employees(?) just to see who he can get such a response.

I haven't played since the beta but if the controls actually were changed I'd say the part you should be upset about is him flat out lying instead of the crack part

And with all the complaints I'm pretty sure something's fishy

This is the problem when you use your personal twitter account for work related things. You have to learn how to walk a fine line between these situations.

I said it in the other thread but I'm almost positive it's vsync. It does the same thing to PC controls.

Some people are easily offended by the phrase "You're on crack." I have always thought of it as a playful way to disagree, not some horrific insult.

You know, this is probably the only industry where you can say stuff like that to your customers and still have a job.

That's pretty cool.

So every employee should forget about being a human being, and start talking like a PR.

What a stupid thread.

It's about interacting with the community with a product you made and the bought. I don't care if he said the most racist comment in existence - it has nothing to with that.

Why should I give my hard earned dollars to a couple full of assholes who can't treat the community with proper respect. Don't get me started on their community manager either.
It would have taken just a much time to give a proper response, rather than "you are on crack"

That is fucking hilarious. I'm sorry, EA can eat a bag of dicks, but this was gold.

Did they offend you personally? What does this have to do with, other than your sense of entitlement? You bought their game, not their personal politeness till the end of time.

I approve of this. I wouldn't mind if the customer told him to go fuck himself up the ass with a fiery ten-mile pole after that though. Just let them hurl insults at each other.

I don't know if you can even distinguish the two in a case like this, unless you go as far as not mentioning your work, the game, or even games in general.

If he posts "I don't like how CoD controls" in a week when the game is out, are we going to call him out on "DICE saying CoD is shit" as if that's the official PR?

No, it's a stimulant. But I think you can get hallucinations.

I also demand that all non-PR dev responses be written like this.
