This is 100% how I feel about Alex. He's trash when it comes to judging anything Playstation related. To say the unboxing is uninteresting is stupid and plain wrong. He's objectively wrong.

No they should NOT! That's called entitlement. Buy the darn thing when it comes out and do 24 hours a day worth of content on it if you'd like. Consumers DO NOT have to buy the PS5 on launch day. Nobody is entitled to get free hardware. That's always up to the creator of said hardware.

I am still waiting for the adjective you would use for you claiming things about someone without offering evidence and in the next paragraph ordering them to present evidence for what they said or actually what you claimed they have said yet did not offer evidence of (it is between being hypocritical and projecting, maybe both).
Anyways, you claimed this about me “you want them to wax lyrics on PS5” and “you claim Digital Foundry is anti-Sony” as facts without evidence... then proceeded to demand I present evidence you find compelling that proves the statements you attributed to me (nice way out to dismiss everything first hand later on). I never said DF is anti Sony, I never asked all people in DF to wax lyrics about it (so I won’t present evidence of something I did not say)... but glad to see that you agree that is what people would do after watching the video.
Your arguments about the professionalism of the “uninteresting” content also falls apart if they ever made any reaction video or tried to discuss data from rumour or videos others shot. You know this too and are hiding behind your earlier demands and you know you are not going to accept any evidence: you are refusing the evidence of your eyes in this very thread pretending Battaglia’s comments is a professional one and correct too.
This thread has the evidence you seek already and you show how reasonable you are about it
.That very quote in this thread and the amount of times Battaglia and Leadbetter kept the F.U.D. PS5 did not have true HW Raytracing and what does Cerny mean actually by HW accelerated ray-tracing alive (of course you will act as if you never heard any of that) are evidence of what we have been saying. Skepticism towards one side by these two.

So no reviews of launch games then until they are out since reviewers are not entitled to hardware to do reviews before launch. This is silly argument to defend Sony acting like secret squirrels for no reason.

Do you have any proof that DF gave a dishonest review purely because they got hardware or software early? I hope reviewers continue to get early looks because it makes it easier to make future purchasing decisions. If DF doesn't do a PS5 video when it comes out perhaps some of you guys might have a point.

My statement is more about access journalism than just DF.
Either being threatened to be the lone publication out without early access to content and HW/losing your unique selling point (early content review and analysis) or having NDA’s stating you cannot present the product under a bad light does YOU a disservice. You are being marketed to, how is it easier for you to make purchasing decisions or political decisions based purely on that.
Leadbetter did not get a working unit to disassemble in his labs and out under the microscope, he got flown over to see and touch the HW in a MS controlled environment. Why did not he wait to do one now with a working unit? Why is he not doing more and disassembling the drive to out the DRAM-less SSD rumour to rest?
Also, they made plenty of analysis based on videos and presentations and reaction videos in the past as well as said it would be important/cannot wait for Sony to show its cooling solution and the Cerny promised teardown... and now it is uninteresting.

You know a video game console launch is different from a video game release. Stop being silly. I'm not defending Sony here as I think they should have sent them video game media companies at least 30 before release. But to act like it's a "MUST" is silly. And giving them to DF or Gamespot now is all about mindshare. And clearly Sony feels like they have enough mindshare at the moment and don't want the media to try to throw them off that course.

I don't think normal gamers care about DRAM-Less SSDs. I think its more for fanboy forum wars where you can hold a bullet point over fans of other consoles. I'd rather have a hands-on which gives SOME info over some sort of principled stand where you get nothing at all until the console comes out. We don't know what the MS NDA said. It is pure speculation that reviewers were told they couldn't say anything bad about the console. If that was true how did all that stuff about the console over-heating and a return to the early 360 days come from? Alex saying he wasn't interested in a Sony PS5 teardown doesn't show any bias. He clearly he said he was more interested in graphics and games and low and behold he did a video on Spiderman. In the end this is the path Sony chose. Don't get upset with DF or any other publication because they chose to not cover things Sony denied info on.

You dug up a 3 week old post of mine from end of September. A post that I didn't respond to because I didn't see your reply to it. I don't live on the forum mate. I stand corrected then on the volume of the console.
A quick Google didn't reveal any websites that reported on the volumes of both consoles on relation to each other.

Some people of you completely ignore the fact that Microsoft invited some tech YouTubers and Magazines at the beginning of the year over to their headquarters to let them assemble a whole Series X console by hand and provided extensive technical information on day 1.
This resulted in a media blowout on a certain date where the YouTube reviewers were able to create massive content with lots of information before the embargo date for it.
Sony did nothing of this and "just" released a tear down video out of nowhere without having the "influencers" have their hands on the console.
So don't expect the same coverage as for Series X.
Anyhow, we will see two great consoles in about a month and I'm totally excited for the release of both - even when I will buy the PS5 at a later date.

They should (DRAM is not added to SSD’s for the fun of it), this is actually the job of tech sites like DF to provide this data/educate so that people are aware.
If it were on the opposite end of the spectrum you would hear “We have seen that in XSX’S Velocity Architecture there is dedicated DRAM next to the SSD flash controller to ensure lower latency reads and lower flash wear and tear by combining and intelligently placing write and read commands... we do not know if Sony has something similar as it could impact performance and reliability of their high speed SSD”. Battaglia and Leadbetter would happily speculate in that fashion as they have on the whole software Raytracing issue when they could find enough wiggle room on the PS side... people on this forum have done too as well.

Our eyes and their eyes are not supposed to be the same when it comes to examining tech. They’re experts at analyzing video game consoles. They should find any new info about the most anticipated game technology being released this year interesting. You missed things that they would not have and could have examined.

ill save you The drama. Hes discovered the formula for cubic inches. So he wants you to multiply it and get over 600. The x is 418 so he thinks that means it’s 50% larger. But, the PS5 has an diagonal hourglass shape so the formula doesn’t work. The x isexact because it is a box. So to find the exact answer he’s volunteering to buy both PS5 models and submerge them in water.
I still think the PS5 is going to fit in more existing setups than the x. Same way a smaller subwoofer can take up more space than say, a larger pc tower.
Videos are edited to ensure that viewers see only what the video maker want them to see. It would be foolish for a site that specialises in tech to report second-hand info about any console based on such a manufacturer's video.
DF make a living from doing this kind of thing themselves.

you can’t have it both ways. Either it’s uninteresting or it’s their business to analyze. Having it in their hands has nothing to do with it and there was enough shown to comment on if they wanted that wasnt “edited out” They also had the opportunity to say “we’re going to wait to do our own” either way...it’s interesting. You mention them making a living doing videos, so, they had an opportunity for clicks now AND later when they do their own. That’s a lotta eating right there.

Yup and if people think that the paid trip to MS’s HQ and their time with the unit came with zero conditions attached or MS review of the unit (not sure which angle from the PS5 teardown was missing in the high resolution footage provided btw) then IMHO they are being a bit naive too.
Also, there have been reaction videos and analysis on third party data before including on the infamous GitHub leak so the “they did not find it valuable to analyse the video and offer expert commentary” excuse feels a bit odd to say the least.

It seems you're just very keen to be offended by DF's perfectly reasonable decision and are hoping to twist it into yet another 'DF is biased' narrative.

Dirt 5 is 60pfs on the current system and 120 on the next gen. There is not big surprise but the big surprise is that yakuza will only run at 1440p on xbox one series x.

It’s the biggest confirmed tech release of the year. There’s no offense taken or there shouldn’t be. Be critical, say what you want about the size or shape. Speculate that it has potential negatives. It's so odd to see a media-tech company so uninterested in a teardown that the PS5 had. Especially considering Sony hasn't shown the inside of the console at all yet! His natural tech instincts should have been interested in a least 2 or 3 things in that teardown. Like where the expanded SSD would be, the look of the heatsink, and the size and shape of the fan. Like AT THE VERY LEAST he should have been internally motivated to see and talk about that stuff.
Unless......................he views the Playstation 5 and Sony as the "other team".
