Reminds me of when the 1X was having minor frame drops while at a much higher resolution than the pro but pro was the "winner".

Now Ps5 drops as much as 10 frames while only a little higher resolution. XSX the clear winner here. Gotta love fanboy logic ūüĎŹ

Wait......you are mocking the "logic" used to declare the Pro the "winner", but then you use that same logic to declare XSX the "clear winner"?

All I did was apply the same fanboy logic you guys used on the 1X/Pro comparisons and its really got you all bent out of shape.

You can continue shitposting, it doesn't matter to me. I understand how deluded you guys are in this plastic warfare.

Actually, your initial post was filled with half-truths, at best. You took two tidbits of information from a 15 minute video of analysis and created your own bullshit one-liner out of it. I mean....sorry, but if you want to talk about shitposting, start there.

I've started to notice a lot of frame drops now playing in performance mode when in certain towns and stuff. It's jarring. Didn't really have it before the patch but also wasn't this far in the game.. (PS5)

we are talking about a performance mode though, where performance is key. That’s the whole point of a performance mode.

First, the narrative goes from native 4k60 for the series X version and upscaled 4k60 for the PS5 version of AC Valhalla. Xbox fanboys gloating until we find out they’re both upscaled. Then, the PS5 version runs better than the Series X version and we blame the tools. Now the bar has gone down so much that we’re trying to ignore the fact the Series X Version has to drop down to near PS4 level resolution to perform as well as the PS5 version. Here we see you trying to make up some arbitrary meaning to performance mode to justify the lower resolution of the Series X version. A far cry from the native 4k resolution you were touting huh? To top it off, you’re still wrong! The PS5 version still has higher framerate performance than the Series X version according to Digital Foundry. Did I get the timeline right?

Actual next gen titles.
Not multiplat were series x is using inferior xbox one assets.

I genuinely would like to know why all of Xbox's stuff is "inferior right now" or "will get fixed later" when PS5 is currently working (relatively) fine?

Was there some grand conspiracy to gimp the Xbox out the gate? Or was it poor planning on Microsoft's part?

Regardless, this argument won't hold water with the general public. Once word gets out (if it hasn't already) that PS5 is faster than Xbox or looks better, it will be PS4 vs X1 all over again; only this time the PS4 has established a huge base.

If you're on the fence about the consoles (as a normal consumer), and you know PS has the games + is actually outperforming the Xbox (from hearsay or internet articles, etc.), would you choose an Xbox based on some amorphous idea of "future toolkits and fixes"? Likely not. That's the issue Xbox has right now. It's hard to shake the initial perception, it's even worse when you're starting behind.

All I'm saying is get rid of gen8 everything.
Once it's just series x vs ps5 with no crossgen anything then we'll see what's going on.

But I think right now ps5 has the upperhand because ps4 versions have consistently been better across the board and on the xbox side 3rd parties are keeping ports close to save money and time and as a result series x suffers.

But whatever.
Re8 was looking to run like hot chunky ass on ps5.
I'm curious if X has the same fate or worse.

Or maybe ps5 can no longer hide behind smoke and mirrors.

Maybe ps5 about to get rolled or maybe ps5 actually IS stronger.
We'll see.

Casuals think Nintendo switch graphics are good so who cares about them. Lol

No .

Ps5 does not drop in gameplay .its noted that mean fps is slightly higher than xsx in gameplay based on DF but at 50% higher resolution.

Personally, nothing to care about this stupid war, I'm just searching for the most interesting game version when I'll have the two consoles, but honestly, are you really saying that ACV on XsX is running constantly with 50% less pixel compared to PS5 version ? If yes, some gamers on both sides like to distort the facts ... This 50% more pixels, it is true in few scenes and during very short times, the vast majority of the time, both work with the same resolution ... Clearly, PS5 version is overal better, while still remaining very close at the end.

eh, the difference in resolution is not that big, however playing at a locked 60fps compared to 50-51 FPS is much worse especially if you play in a performance mode. Do you know what the goal of a performance mode is?
You posted a cutscene shot, in gameplay ps5 runs fine, please who cares if ps5 runs worse during the custcene (at higher res)?

I get what you're saying; but my point is really: if you aren't "casual" and are a "hardcore" gamer looking for peak performance - you're going to play on PC. If you want the best console you're going to get what has the best games and has the best performance "right now" - because "hardcore" console gamers are not going to be waiting to see which console is more powerful in 2 years.

I've said this consistently! If we want games that are both 4k AND better looking than last gen, we're gonna have to wait a few years for the software to get more efficient! In the meantime, one set of hardware is more efficient~

Series X resolution had to be dropped to match PS5 performance

Tres cool :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:

So I guess it was not developped by the UbiPoland branch, you can clearly see the lack of polish...

+10 pts!

For sure.
Ps5 and xbox running at 4k 54fps.
Meanwhile I'm on my pc full bone enjoying 1440p max setting 60fps.

The next patch is likely to see the Res drop on PS5 also to improve the frame rate, Ubisoft aimed too high for an engine which was designed around 30 FPS, though this will not be the last time we will see the PS5 outperforming, or equaling its supposably more powerful rival. Tools are being improved on both sides of the fence, and performance is still too close to call on several games in the pipeline. FC6 for example. Tools were not late, as they are always in a constant state of flux, and all developers seem very happy with both software environments.

suddenly, only resolution matters and not FPS in a PERFORMANCE mode.
I thought 4K is a waste and FPs is more important? Suddenly 4K is the most important thing and FPS don’T matter? Really?

You do know that is a cutscene and series x is running at a lower dynamic frame rate.... Game play is what matters

Yep. I don't get this line of thinking either. Its a cutscene. You have 0 interactivity in a cutscene. However the same poor performance during actual gameplay affects how you play the game.

This is all fucking weird this obsession over cutscene framerates lol. The fuck ???!!

I mean if we are talking about cut scenes the Xbox versions have a weird stuttering issue. I would notice that more than a short drop in FPS.

It seems you did not learn the lesson about spreading FUD especially since that particular piece of FUD came from the Dusk Golem guy. There was so much FUD going on about the PS5 and it all turned out to be false. All of it. 9.2 TF? Nope. Overheating? Nope. Last minute overclock? Nope. Manufacturing issues? Nope. I can keep going if you want.

The key take-a-way from all the next gen game reviews is that the idea of 3rd party games running better on the Series X is dead.

Even if the Series X's slight TFOPs advantage did materialize someday, the result would only be a small resolution benefit for brief periods of time due to dynamic resolution scaling. Such small advantages have now been deemed immaterial by both Xbox and PlayStation fans alike.

Another important take-a-way is that it is much harder to detect resolution changes than it is to detect varying FPS and screen tears. Once we get beyond launch games, and devs have more time to optimize their dynamic resolution scaling, FPS and screen tears should even out between platforms. We'll then only be left with estimates of max/min resolutions without any objective way to attach time durations to them.

Few people will notice very brief dips in resolution down to ones that are still pretty good. That is especially true for people playing the game, and not actively looking for them after the fact. Outside of obvious fails, technical comparisons between platforms will become more subjective like game reviews.

A local pond.
Xbox fansboys just need to accept reality, the proof is in the pudding.

It's time to focus on your exclusive games lineup and stop putting all your eggs into the multi-plat universe

Microsoft are the kings of pr bullshit, you got fooled, people got conned, it has happened, just move on.

You still have lots of goodies to come, yes they are a bit down the line but they are still coming.

Seems a bit of an overstatement. XSX seems to do just fine in games/game modes that utilize bandwidth intensive next-gen features, this should only be bolstered as the development ecosystem matures.

With that said, you've got two boxes that are the same price (for equivalent units) and will output very similar visuals. I doubt there will be many instances where games will perform differently at all without exaggerated comparisons. Not sure what most were expecting. PS, Sony super fans, you love the results of the AC comparison, but what about those 20+ frames PS5 drops in CoD in RT Mode? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

@ sircaw sircaw delusional much?

Alex: yeah, yeah, ahahaha, performance i'd say this is in a place that is better than where the Xbox Series X was in the last patch but it's worse than PS5 is now.

Just the broad statement XSX performing better in multi-plats is dead.

True next-gen games will feature RT effects etc. and XSX runs better in EVERY multi-plat comparison with those features enabled (at least what we've seen so far). Whether or not that is actively perceptible to the average player is up for debate (probably not). Everyone should just enjoy the games, truth be told.

This is the 2nd time I've seen the PS5 have higher resolution but a less consistent framerate. The first was Dirt 5 120hz mode. So I can be clear, drops in framerate are OK as long as it has higher resolution or does smooth performance matter more? Sometimes it seems like the goals shift depending on which system we are talking about.

There is no 20+ frames difference in COD RT mode. There was a bug on PS5. If you experience frame-drops in certain cutscenes, just hit 'Restart from Checkpoint', and all frame-drops will go away. Locked 60 FPS. Already confirmed by DF and others.

Sources please. Hopefully that's true, though, needing to restart checkpoints to resolve problems still would be problematic for me.

Even in the Call of Duty game you used to try to make your point, DF said XSX and PS5 RT performance was equivalent the vast majority of the time. If it was an issue in the very few PS5 dips, all the devs would have to do is reduce the resolution a little bit like they had to do in Valhalla for the for the XSX. It's exactly like I said things would play out. This will all come down to how aggressive dynamic resolution scaling is and at these high resolutions, no one is going to notice the difference with brief dips.

Btw DF also said they preferred to play in the 120hz mode over ray tracing where the PS5 did better. So even in your example, the PS5 came out on top in the best mode to play in. That is if you want to play the game of really stretching to try to find a difference.

Well alrighty then. I didn't know that. So even that one point in the XSX's favor is a nothingburger.

You consider the last-gen mode at 120fps the best mode to play in? :messenger_winking_tongue: To each their own.

Why one one talks about the 4K, quality mode at 30fps ? I do not follow comparison much but I think PS5 seems to have edge in higher fps modes like 120fps, 60fps only.
