1-D_FTW said:Of course it is. Dirt 2 was compatible with the PC and G25. And if you changed some settings (forgot to write mine down before my last reformat), the FF was pretty great. I'm be curious to see the praise/complaint breakdown. Because I think most people who dislike the FF were console, and most people praising it were PC (where you had options to adjust).

phosphor112 said:Is it just me or am I the only one disappointed? Call me a racing purist, but I feel like the tracks in Richard Burns Rally still put these, multi-million dollar budget games to shame.
I was hoping more of a generational leap, Dirt has seemed (as my own opinion) to be a stagnant series. Adding small features here and there, yes, night rally would be awesome, but it wouldn't be as awesome as getting an authentic rally experience.
I'll still keep an eye on this game, hopefully they will impress me more than WRC and GT5 rally mode did... which were huge let downs, by the way.
saladine1 said:Correct.
Codies stated that they were taking CMR and Race Driver in a different route right from the beginning.
On another note, there's been talk about Evolution Studios perhaps making a comeback with WRC..

Yep. I didn't buy D2 for the same reason. Well, that and it felt like an X-Games/AXE/Monster advertisement.Ranger X said:It honestly look EXACTLY like Dirt2. Did you find that Dirt2 had this prob?
It looks so much like Dirt 2 that I wonder if they just removed the ATi branded car and repackaged the game.Ranger X said:It honestly look EXACTLY like Dirt2. Did you find that Dirt2 had this prob?
Personally I am happy about it feels. Much more natural to me than the "ice racing" we see out there.
I think you should because they have no intention of reverting back to the old days..mclaren777 said:Yep. I didn't buy D2 for the same reason. Well, that and it felt like an X-Games/AXE/Monster advertisement.
I think it's time for me to give up on Codemasters ever making another old school CMR-esque rally game.

Helios_CM said:Latest dev video entitled 'Keep it real' is now up on Eurogamer, what do you think?
http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/exclusive-dirt3-trailer-shows-realism
op_ivy said:odd that EVERYTHING released has been about the rally component only. is that the aspect of the game the hardcore gamers (those researching future titles on the net, wtahcing dev videos, etc) want most whereas the other events are meant to appeal to casual gamers?
Helios_CM said:I wouldn't say that, we've put out quite a few vids that were Gymkhana focused. However you're right in that we haven't put vids out yet showing off rallycross, multiplayer etc, but those are to come later.
Those people have clearly never played Richard Burns Rally.PjotrStroganov said:Realistic, realistic, realistic!
Really?
I love the handling in Dirt 2 and it looks like it's only getting better. But if it were truly realistic, we wouldn't be able to drive these cars so fast.

Looking forward to it. Hopefully some weather footage.Helios_CM said:We're putting out an extended edit of dev video #3 'Keeping it real' later today, keep an eye on the DiRT 3 Facebook page for details.
He is a McRae 2.0 man, no wonder I love dirt games so much lol.MiniBossBattle said:Can't wait for this game. Does anyone know what kind of rig they use in the ubisoft office? it looks serious.
InsideSimRacing did a preview
Designer said realism is not Mario Cart, not iRacing but inbetween.
Looking great and after Dirt 2 will buy, unless review are massively dissapointing, which I doubt, since it is running on the same and by the looks, improved EGO engine.saladine1 said:
Yeah, a little off-putting. I never, ever, bought a rally racer for its realism. Though when they create a racing wheel that will make me feel like I'm driving a Delta S4 and then throw me off a cliff and make me burst into flames--sign me up.markao said:But guys, just stay away off the "it's realistic" PR, it will just back fire, due to the nature off the extremely vocal hardcore sim crowd, just don't.
DeuceMojo said:1) Damn, this game is repetitive.

So I was playing some long-neglected Dirt 2 the past few nights and I came to a few realizations:
1) Damn, this game is repetitive. If you concentrate almost entirely on rally and hillclimb (this is about 90% of what I think the game should be, with the rest left to rallycross--iffy in Dirt 2--and crossover, which is non-existent), you race Utah, China, Morocco, Croatia, and the godawful California spillway... and that's it. No Cyprus, Kenya, Monte Carlo, Wales, Finland, Sweden, France, Germany, etc. etc. etc. They tried too damned hard to appeal to American audiences and it backfired, because as an American, I am bored, sir.
2) The cars get boring really quickly. Who wants to race a 350Z race after race? The "unlockables" for multiplayer seem to be limited to a Ford Escort Mk2, which is average, a Dallenbach Special, which is a God Car on most every hill climb, and a Ford RS200, which is a fantastic rally car that you can't even use in rallies in this game because they dumped it in rallycross. Done. No Lancia Stratos/037/Delta. No Peugeot/Renault. No Volvo/Saab. 95% of hillclimb vehicles are just reskins of their rally counterparts. Vintage woefully underrepresented. Vehicles like the Solstice, Z3 and Eclipse fairly worthless since they're fun to drive but hopelessly underpowered.
Please be awesome, DiRT 3. Multiplayer and otherwise. I realize you can't throw in the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry for Gymkhana at this late date, and I understand you can't completely trash trophy trucks, Bajas, and buggies, but I'm asking you, Codies, to make this a pleasing mix of everything that was good with the first two games, along with a healthy dose of other things that don't suck.
betweenthewheels said:This is one thing I hope they can remedy in D3. They need something to motivate the player through the massive race grid. Whenever I felt I was making progress through the career 10 more events pop up.
That being said, I don't know what they could do to improve this but I hope they change up the progression in some way.
isamu said:I kid you not guys, I was going to start playing DIRT 2's career mode for the first time EVER starting tomorrow morning. But after reading these two posts I think I have decided to change my mind. Repetition is THE reason I completely gave up playing F1 2010's career mode after 1 season. Repetition is also something NFS Shift avoided and hence why I completed it last week and enjoyed it tremendously.
