Seriously?

I didn't mean to be rude, then! It's okay not to know something. With GAF though sometimes you assume that if someone says something that isn't quite right, it's because they're being a jerk.

Sadness is being "developed" by Nibris (a Polish company). They do not have Wii development kits as far as anyone can tell. They're not properly licenced. The game has been announced for years, but no resources from the game have ever been released. They've went through several publishers who have dumped them. They've also passed off art for other projects as art for Sadness, which is a very sleazy thing to do.

Hahaha I've been following the game since it was announced...what 2 years ago now...maybe 3; actually I was being sarcastic... I thought it was obvious enough... I didn't want to make it too-obvious by announcing that... but thanks for your concern!

Monolith gets Nintendo's delay syndrome.

It's CONTAGEOUS!

Miyamoto is furiously upending tea tables all over their office. He is on a rampage. Run!

unluckily i do think they are licensed developers.
Or at least, for DS they are.

Anyway Sadness is pure bullshit, and let's not forget they were referring to that as a "Resident Evil Killer", LMFAO.

Seriously, people. Games get delayed all the freaking time. Are we going to freak out every time this happens?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet, but there's a lot of speculation on 2ch and whatnot that the game was not delayed because of development issues - instead Nintendo just didn't want to start promoting a cool action game about natural disasters so soon after the typhoon and earthquake disasters in Asia now, so they're delaying it instead.

It would make sense, actually.
There were a few movies that got delayed after 9/11 because they were shot in NYC.

That does seem to be the best explanation...

Which means it could still be on track for a European/NA release...

I'm so confused. What did you mean then?

I was just trying to point out that if the game was delayed due to the recent Asia disasters then it wouldn't necessarily be delayed in the rest of the world

natural disasters that kill 50k people in Asia don't just affect Asia...

Yes but it would be no where near as politically incorrect to release the game in the US compared to Asia after these disasters. I'm just trying to say that if Nintendo delayed Day of Crisis due to the recent natural disasters, that doesn't mean it will effect Nintendo of America and Europe's plans for the game.

Well, as far as we know they just delayed the Japanese release. So, they might be working on the US and PAL versions right now... ^^ Maybe a simultaneous WW release is not impossible in the near future ^^ (assuming they have delayed the game because of the typhoon and the earthquake, that is).

Miyamoto upended the tea table again?

Or Nintendo not wanting a PR nightmare with a game about disasters after that catastrophe in Asia as ducky said. That Schwarzenegger movie Collateral Damage was also held back after 9/11 and came out at a later date (as were several others, of course).

Early 2009?

Also remember that September 11th basically shelved the original Advance Wars in Japan, and that was far smaller loss of human life.

Yes. I didn't thought about it, but it could really be the clue.

Sorry, man, I know we're not as sensitive to the world around us as some others, but it still has a severe impact to a lot of people here, too. Nintendo doesn't HAVE to do anything about the release in these territories, but a show of respect should be easy to interpret and appreciate given current circumstances.

I think this seems likely, they did the same with Advance Wars after 9/11, didn't they?

I'm not trying to be insensitive but you are naive if you think there would be an uproar in America if this game released in July.

I'm keeping hope alive that this game will be halfway decent. Hopefully they've pushed it back because they've got something great on their hands and want to get it right, rather than pushing it back because it's so atrocious that even the company that released Bongo Blast can't face putting it out there in its current form. I have little faith that developers who specialise in RPGs can put out good action games though and the lack of media/previews to date doesn't exactly inspire optimism.

People are giving Nintendo a hard time about Wii Fit calling a little girl fat..they don't want to see what happens if they were to bring this game out now.

It's not about there being an uproar. If Nintendo has decided it would be insensitive and they're keeping a lid on the reason just to be more sensitive about it, there's no way they will release the game in the US and Europe before Japan simply because the incidents are further away. That makes no sense at all.

If the insensitivity differs from region to region, why wouldn't the response?

Didn't you say that was a rumour on 2ch? I don't think that's the reason why they delayed it anyways, terrible things happen all the time. The earthquake and the tsunami didn't cause the media to go as wild as 9-11, where everything with two towers got cancelled. Terrible things happen all the time, if it's not 9-11 it won't make anybody delay anything. Or did you see Illusion delaying Battle Raper 2 because of some raping incident? :lol

That's an interesting, and plausible thoery. Hopefully even if it has been delayed due to the typhoon and earthquake Monolith will continue to polish it so that when it does come out it will be better (without taking too many staff of whatever else than plan to be working on).

I just hope ths game is good... It looks interesting, but that's all we know really.

It'd be as ridiculous as Square-Enix taking out allusions to kidnapping in FFVI Advance due to kidnappings in Japan :lol

Oh wait.

He tries his best. I asked him about it before but he'd already left the thread for another Wii one to say something bad about a console I doubt he owns.

Not that his opinion is necessarily wrong this time, it does look pretty mediocre by all accounts, though I'm still interested.

I was never too excited about this game so I really don't care of this delay. Although it would be nice to see new Nintendo franchise that doesn't involve Mario or he's friends.

Nintendo delayed Advance Wars for several months in Europe and Japan due to 9/11.
Taking a look at the description of Disaster, there are many similarities between the natural disasters in Burma and China.

The game's main objective is to survive natural disasters.
There's a monster wave that floods the USA, well at least it's not Burma.

The player has to drive by car to escape from the all-destroying wave; jump aside since houses collapse due to a gigantic earthquake and swim for their lifes in a torrential flood.

The game's slogan is (German translation, so I'm not sure whether I did it wrong)
"Come hell or high water, fight for your life!"

And then there are terrorists, they could be compared to the junta. He has to fight against them but his real challenges are the natural disasters.

Like I said, it's just a theory, but considering how close to release this delay is (just before they would have started marketing the game with previews and a website in fact), and how similar the themes are to what's happening right now, I do think it's pretty likely.
