Trying to determine the reasoning of the insane, was your first mistake.I seriously still don't get her reasoning.

The more this game sells, the more likely she is to see payment.
This move is in direct conflict with her desired outcome.
I think her thought was that threatening the youtubers' livelihoods would get them to put pressure on Imagos settle the case in her favor.I seriously still don't get her reasoning.
She is essentially threatening you tubers lively hood and she seriously thinks that they'll take her side?
So what's this girl's story? She does have good cause to do this, right? I can't tell if she's more like a patent troll or that crazy person who is too crazy to properly address injustices against them.
This is the internet, death threats are a virtual currency. I'm sure they went both ways.
She's obviously not thinking clearly (to put it mildly), and I'm not sure that there are any injustices against her.
No, I'm sorry, but that doesn't excuse making death threats against a legal representative of the company which you are in a legal dispute with, or against people who are calling you on your bullshit. Best I can tell, the people Mauer made threats against made no such threats against her, they just opposed her position. Mauer is clearly unstable.
Well, if her music is really being used without her permission...

Nothing indicates that is the case here. This is not a question of non-payment or lack of permission, but of the composer suddenly wanting more money, for whatever reason, and then being clearly unwilling to act like an adult instead of a child in the pursuit of this goal.
I'm not excusing anything. Head.spawn was confused who was getting death threats, and I was just noting that - the internet being the internet - both sides were. No, I'm sorry, but that doesn't excuse making death threats against a legal representative of the company which you are in a legal dispute with, or against people who are calling you on your bullshit. This is in no way normal or acceptable. Is there any evidence whatsoever that a game developer sent her a death threat? If so people would be pointing it out since that would likely end a developer's career. This is the internet, death threats are a virtual currency. I'm sure they went both ways.
if you redeemed the code, it should still be in your library. however there are reports that if you buy a key from say, humble, the key won't work apparently.
I can't believe people had any sympathy for her in the first place.

Destructoid backpedaled their article, claiming it was a user blog that shouldn't have shown up on the front page in the first place, and editing in a bunch of corrections.
Of course, in the meantime, Ars Technica was perfectly happy to echo the original article's contents, once again leaving out her trying to blackmail YouTubers to get her way, death threats she's sent out, etc.
She's not a big corporation.I hope she loses in court and gets punished for abuse of the system. Won't happen as big corporations get free passes to abuse the system on a daily basis
None.So what's this girl's story? She does have good cause to do this, right? I can't tell if she's more like a patent troll or that crazy person who is too crazy to properly address injustices against them.

Reading through the full history, she needs to be put away somewhere. This kind of behavior is not acceptable and I don't understand how it can continue on like this.
Her career is over but also this idiotic tantrum is screwing over other people and causes. Unacceptable.
My question is who will want to work with her after this? She is burning bridges she hasn't even made yet.
Thats the thing i was wondering. Regardless of the final outcome of this whole mess, no one will want to hire her after this.My question is who will want to work with her after this? She is burning bridges she hasn't even made yet.
Of course death threats are completely unacceptable. I never meant to imply that a game developer sent her a death threat, only that she has claimed to have received them and that, the internet being full of assholes, I see no reason to doubt that claim. To the contrary, Imagos, Leonard French, and even SidAlpha (despite his back and forth on censoring the YouTube comments) have been downright respectful with Alex considering her actions. This is in no way normal or acceptable. Is there any evidence whatsoever that a game developer sent her a death threat? If so people would be pointing it out since that would likely end a developer's career.
But no, people are reporting screenshots of her sending the threat(s), so I challenge the assertion that it went both ways.
My point was that both sides have claimed to have received death threats. Leonard French, SidAlpha, and possibly others have received them directly from Alex. To my knowledge, Alex has only received them from anonymous morons. My apologies for my lack of clarity.Your post ("sent both ways") seemed to specifically imply that the people targeted by her death threats had sent death threats to her in turn, which is not a reasonable assumption. If your point is that she probably received death threats, in general, then that's probably a given considering GamerGate's MO.

tldr they say she has absolutely no legal basis for this but nonetheless they're scrubbing the entire soundtrack and starting over (which effectively erases the work of three people because of Alex) just to put this behind them.
Damn, they can't take out her songs specifically, or were they collaborations?
The damage she's causing should be a crime.
By contract if it's like Star Mazer, the work she made is now theirs.Alex was subcontracted by their lead composer, from what I understand, and my guess is that maybe things are just too messy due to the possibly collaborative nature of music and it's easiest to just make a clean break.

Let me make it absolutely clear – Alex Mauer's claim that the game violates her copyright is false. She is a co-creator of the music, with Dino Lionetti and Rich Vreeland. Our written license agreement is with Rich, who subcontracted Alex and Dino. When Rich offered to pay Alex an equal share of the music fee for her contribution to the game soundtrack, she emailed back: ”oh that's awesome man i'm all for it thanks!" Rich has shown us the documentation that Alex was paid in full.
