I grew up with Korean and Chinese friends and I'd try their food all the time. And although I did enjoy all the raw fish, at the end it wasn't really anything special. (This was the 90s) And back then, there wasn't really much of a craze for sushi. Usually when someone was asked if they liked raw fish, you would get a face like they've just seen Man vs Wild for the first time. But as the years passed with advancements to the internet and introduction to anime and cute Japanese things, more and more people just suddenly started to enjoy these things. Including the sushi. Even started calling it their favorite food.
