So I flew internationally this past week and across all cultures and peoples, older people foot wear literally looked all the same.

I'm not sure if there is an opportunity for any Gaffer to corn this lucrative market but I can't believe they're all wearing the same brand that look slike... Are they?

old people hit a certain age with everything and just don't care. that's why advertisers don't consider them a primary market for most consumer products.

I took my grandma out to buy some sensible shoes a few weeks ago and I ended up buying some too and now I'm old and I'll never go back.

Well, wouldn't be more ridiculous if you saw an old man with a cane/walker wearing fancy Air Jordans with flashy neon colours?

It's not that old people all wear the same type of shoes, it's young people trying to discover their individuality and identity through superficial things like trendy clothing.

Most people's shoes look the same. Young people wear scust skate shoes, young working people wear scust duck bill sketches dress shoes hybrids, older people wear scust duck bill shoes, etc.

it's not just old people. lots of people just wear whatever. hell, i see it at the university all the time.

That video of Norm MacDonald the other day had him dressed up but in tennis shoes.

Old people in general just don't give much of a fuck.
Ya, I couldn't care less what people think of my shoes. They're fucking shoes. Let insecure twenty year olds worry about what Kanye wants them to wear.

That said, my wife still spends a few hours each month shoe shopping.

Edit: lol, though I don't wear cargo shorts, I do wear Hawaiian shirts.

Thinking about it right now, I don't think I look at other people's feet that often.

Right now, with nobody else around, I couldn't tell you anything about any shoes that anybody I know wears. Color? Brand? Style? Literally nothing comes to mind.

I have a pair of tennis shoes, flip flops, dress shoes, and boots. They are all comfy and serve their specific functions and I never care if they match my clothes. I already have few shoes and I imagine older people need even less.

Haha at the fashion hate in this thread. Not everyone dresses for others approval and buys higher end pieces just to get, "laid". Some may do just that, and that's their prerogative; but for others it can be a hobby, you know?

It's even weirder when one of them bucks the trend:

EDIT: Are these the same shoes as the pic right above me (only different colors)? WTF?

Maan this thread got me thinking...

I have about handful friends (well some of them are just acquaintances I know)

they are all in their early to mid thirties and they all wear expensive, shiny, Nike, high cut basketball shoes and they own at least 5 pairs.. Just to be clear, they all come from many different races and creed. One thing they all have in common is they aren't the sharpest tools in the shed, they all are a bit of goofs and dumbasses in social situations!

Anyway from now on if I see a thirty something year old dude wearing sneakers that is better suited on the basketball court or on a 22 year old, I am gonna approach them with caution.

The only "old" dude that pulls off sneakers is Seinfeld.

Eh, age & experience teaches you to value comfort over style. If you don't have good support for a good price, who cares what some random person in public thinks?

What are you, 12? I stopped caring about shoes after elementary/middle school and I don't know anyone else who was any different. To be fair though, I think there is some "street culture" that really cares about fancy sneakers, but that's a limited subset.
