Na'Vi is just unbeatable at this point. Is there even a team that can give them a competitive game?

Has anything been confirmed about Dota 2 having a tutorial when the full game is done? I have the beta but I haven't played for a while since I suck and I don't really have anyone to help me learn the game. I've tried, but an in-game tutorial would be amazing and would definitely benefit me more.

There probably will be but the best way to learn really is to play with a community. I hear the dota2 reddit community is pretty good at gathering people together.

Well in game there's a gray'd out tutorial button.

AM has been nerfed time and time again, and you will never hear any complaints about him in higher-level games. Sure he was good back when he had higher armor, better BAS, but there are alot of heroes in the pool that counter him, (Lycan, OD, Sylla, SD) and more to come. (Naga, CK, Disruptor, Meepo) Saying that AM is instawin is obviously an uneducated opinion, as otherwise every team would be first picking/banning AM, as opposed to leaving him open for picks in dota2, and completely ignoring him for the most part in dota 1.

My perspective on pubstomping heroes like AM/Pudge/Riki/Ursa etc.. is that they require a team effort to stop them which is counter to whatever happens in a random pub game. For example, with a stealth hero, if just 2 teammates carried dust/sentries, there wouldn't be that big of a problem but invis heroes snowball because they'd rather save up to buy their OMG LEETSAUCE I'M A BADASS WTFPWN WEAPON instead.

I know that feeling. I hate when I ask one of the obvious supports to get wards or a courier and they will not do it right off the bat. Hell when I'm a support and we have another, I try to say "I'll get wards and place them if you get courier." Nope, most of the time they fill their pockets with shit and run to the lane. Usually I just get both courier and wards myself and just hope I don't get my shit fucked up in the lane (I only buy one pack of wards though, I at least want to hold some potions or tangos initially).

No courier games are the worst.

No courier games are the worst. I've had a handful of games where that has happened (usually when I play a carry and as a social experiment do not volunteer to pick up courier- amazing how stubborn people are about 150 starting gold). 90% of the games I'm in, I end up buying courier or wards. Even when someone actually buys a courier, they will never even bother to upgrade it (so the other 9% of the time, I'm upgrading courier). Worst thing is when you buy the wards for people to use and they say shit like "I don't have space to carry it..."

You know what I've been finding? That games where just one guy (like an Ursa, Riki) dominates all scoring (let's say one guy with 20 kills while nobody else on his team has more than 4) are games where your team can come back to win.

Sheep the uber-fed carry, focus him down, and watch how easy it is for the rest of your team to handle the 4v5.

I had a game like that today. Faceless Void got stupid-fed and had a Madness + Moljniir + some other shit in like 25 minutes. I was playing QoP and couldn't get in any last-hits in team fights to save my life. Finished like 0/6/24. Anyway, towards the end, we were down to one tower and rax before they would have mega creeps (we cleared their middle and both towers protecting the ancient, but couldn't get back to finish the ancient) and they're swarming like a school of sharks. Void is ready to jump into our base, ult and fuck us up. I basically said, "fuck that noise" and jumped out of the base to where he was, sheeped him and started going to work. Everyone followed and he escaped with maybe 15% health. No death right then but it turned the tide of the fight. We immediately pushed a teamfight and though Void was able to ult and kill one of us, but we got his ass and 2 other heroes. We then made a dash straight for the ancient and won.

Point is, when one guy--and only one guy--gets stupid fed, a sheep stick can shut him right the fuck down. That means Void, AM, Riki, Ursa, etc.

Sheepstick is definitely underrated as the general population goes. There are so many scrapes it can rescue you or the team from, but it's seldom built.

Fascinating.

And pretty often the fed carry gets bkb, so it doesn't always work so swimmingly.

Just because they may get a bkb is no reason to not pull them up with sheepstick.

Who are some good heroes to buy sheepstick on? everyone? I wanna prove a point to some guys i play with

Of course. It's a 3.5 second hard disable with good range. It's obvious that using it on the primary damage dealer is a good idea. It's obvious that any disable whatsoever would be a good idea to use on the primary damage dealer. You however cannot use it on someone with BKB turned on, so to say it shuts fed carries right the fuck down is an overstatement.

oh for sure. I'm sure it varies from game to game, but if anyone on your team has a teleport like QoP, or a blink, you can jump to them and sheep them before they can activate. surprise is the key ingredient.

With two wins today I'm now 4 games below .500. Praise the lawd, it's being reeled back in again.

First win was an ugly, ugly game, played a Leshrac that was fed on time and again. Still, I was able to get Arcanes and a Mekansm up to contribute, and then a Ghost Scepter to survive longer against their fat Antimage. We were able to take a melee barracks on their bottom lane before we were penned in on our side of the map, and in the end it saved us and the match. We successfully defended our T3s at a few junctures, killing several enemy heroes and then pushing the lanes back out. Sven and Spiritbreaker became sufficiently farmed to engage the other team's supports, or AM if we provided the stuns. Eventually we rolled in after a successful fight near Roshan and knocked down the remaining barracks for the win.

Second game was a lot prettier. I played Necrolyte, and was stuck with a suicide lane on top (up against a Kunkka and a Lina). I ate more Tidebringer cleaves than I should have, but I stayed mostly out of harm's way. Only gave up one death in the game, and that was to a roaming Queen of Pain who assisted those two in a gank. Had a Mekansm and Treads at about 20~ minutes, and made up for lost time and gold when the map finally opened up with tower pushes. I was basically just along for the ride at this point, our Storm Spirit was decently farmed and we were pushing down towers without much organized resistance. Contributed my healing and my scythe where applicable, and we pushed everything down in short order.

I think that is because it is so expensive as are it's components.
While it is expensive, it isn't all that uncommon to see many heroes save for expensive items other than a Sheepstick (even when it could really help them out).

congrats! I was there once. once I got over .500, I didn't care about wins and losses anymore. Now I'm like 15 under .500 again, but I know that at any time, I can pick certain characters and dominate pub matches. I simply choose not to for now.

now I play for 5 performance bars. 11 heroes and climbing. It's much more stress-free, as losing doesn't matter so long as you play well individually. I've lost to-the-wire games that I'd normally be irritated by, but no longer. Performance bar went up? And I know I did my best to keep the team in it? Then I'm good.

Yeah, the bars definitely assuage that terrible sinking feeling, because you've at least the reassurance that you're getting better (even in bad circumstances). For all the complaints about it's non-specificity, I think it does a great job of motivating players to practice their favoured heroes and self-improve.

Sheepstick is always a solid support item. You don't really see carries pick it up, though.

Problem is, it's very expensive for a support hero, will usually be late game unless you're already winning hard, and in that case it's not that needed anymore.

Support isnt the only hero class that should be getting it, though.

It's like the second item I get on qop. I usually have it by ~25 minutes.

Best sheepstick users:

Furion, WR, Invoker. Storm Spirit, Tinker, Obsidian Destroyer

Not exactly, what make sheepstick devastating on those heroes is that they are extremely powerful gankers as well.

Furion: global tp + sheep
Invoker: anything + sheep,
WR: sheep + shackle
Storm: ball lightning + vortex + sheep
Tinker: tp + permasheep
Obsidian Destroyer: sheep + auto attack

Tinker excluded, these are some of the strongest ganker/semi-carry heroes in the game, whose natural skills are greatly augmented by the addition of sheep. While sheep on QoP is good, it's not nearly as good as, say, Sheep on Invoker, if for no other reason than that QoP is not as good at Invoker.

I'd add Dark Seer to the list of good possible sheepstick users, on the basis that he has one of the most ridiculous farming skills in the game, can really benefit from the additional Intelligence, and can ably chase.

Her AoE is so big you don't really need sheep to land her stuff at all, it's just icing on the cake.

I love QoP but she's a middling hero. Not bad but not great either. Plenty of heroes exceed her ganking power, her nuking power, her mobility, even her versatility. Not having an innate disable really counts against her, and Pipe just straight up counters her.

When does DS ever go sheep?

Now that Aghanim's is good but no longer compulsory, a Scythe can be a worthy pickup if an enemy carry is getting farmed. Small bump to damage, tiny bump to strength and agility, provides a solid disable in addition to vacuum, a sizable bump to mana and regen (which he struggles with if he tanks and has regular need of his skills). Naturally things like Vanguards or Pipes will get higher priority in the early to midgame, but a Scythe is nonetheless a realistic luxury given the rate at which he can farm. No need to act incredulous.

Windrunner is a better ganker than QoP? She does lots of other things better but that's not it.

I am incredulous?

ages back when i was lurking an older thread i saw someone post the console commands to show your fps and whatnot but make them heaps small and hide them in the border of the ui, anyone have that handy still? i'd really appreciate it if someone could repost.

good player will break the sheep and continue to rape :p

Act, as in tone. I'm not exactly advocating a Basher on Crystal Maiden or something.

I think you are assuming things about my questioning of your proposition. I am merely commenting that in pro games I dont see sheepstick on DS.
