'This Week' column in Yomiuri Shimbun morning edition reports that Square-Enix will hold a Dragon Quest presentation this Tuesday (12th December).

Details about it are unclear at this point but its likely that Dragon Quest Monster Joker (DS) and Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors (Wii) will be present.

Still unknown at this point if new Dragon Quest games will be announced.

He doesn't even enjoy 8-bit and 16-bit RPGs The tag needs to be refunded! Heck he even hated Earthbound till people told him to play the English version.

I'd like to see a new Dragon Quest announcement pop up but it's too early to call it really. Square Enix will most likely sit on it for a year and see how the Wii vs PS3 battle in Japan turns out - whoever's got the most units out will receive it.

edit: At the rate DS is selling in Japan, it totally wouldn't surprise me if DQVIr is announced for it. Then again they might have been relying on FFIII sales data to really make a decision.

I think it would be funny if Sqaure announced the next DQ as being multiplatform. They announced they would be giving MS alot more support at E3 and they end up porting an Enix game to the 360. :lol








note: I'm not saying anything bad about Enix. Just joking sqaure might not publish a sqaure property on 360 after FFXI .

There are plenty of options. Admittedly, most of the existing series of spinoffs have gotten an entry recently, but maybe we're due for a VI remake?

There will come a point where they will want to move forward and get past the PS2.
It will not be to the 360 I think it is safe to say and while wii may/will definitely get something I think the PS3 is where they will go with their next main.

It is not impossible. The Dragon Quest Series doesn't need a CELL CPU and amazing graphics to become wonderful. The Xbox360 is without hope in Japan and Sony has enormous problem to produce PS3s. The Wii starts really strong and probably will reach an "interesting" userbase relativity soon.

The result is that Square-Enix could really decide to develop Dragon Quest IX only for the Wii.
What ? Unlikely ? Perhaps, but not impossible at all at this point.

I thought about that until It hought about where FF13 is going. I feel like FF might be better suited for PS3's hardware and DQ might be better suited for Wii's. Interesting, no?

Either way there is really no wrong choice between the two and I would definitely have no problem if they did go that road.

I don't think they will announce DQ9 yet. They are probably waiting to see whether Wii or PS3 becomes the definite market leader, so an announcement will probably be made in 1-2 years.

They could use it for navigating menus and such, but those types of things are easily reproducible with a dpad. I really doubt Square-Enix would do something radically new with DQ. DQ is always about adventure and tradition...I'm pretty sure you could replicate it on both platforms.
