Welcome to your new home Inquisitors!

Q: Do I need to have played Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 to understand what's going on?
A: Well, yes and no. There will be returning characters and subplots from the first two games in Inquisition that
you won't recognize and you may completely miss the purpose or intent of some side-stories by not experiencing what
happened in the first two games.

Q: Is there anywhere I can catch up on the Dragon Age world before starting the game?
A: If you're not up for playing DAO and DA2, feel free to check out Ralemont's Dragon Age lore thread or
Kotaku's A Beginner's Guide to Dragon Age. If those prove too long of a read, you could read up on some
wiki summaries of DA:O and DA2 and be relatively caught up to speed on the situation in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
IGN has a nicely done 5 minute video recap of the series.

Q: How long is this?
A: Bioware has stated the that it can take up to 50 hours to complete the main narrative campaign while ignoring
most everything else. Throw in exploration, sidequests, etc and you can see double the amount of time. Reviewers
have said to have played 90+ hours in some cases while still having much left to do in the game.

Q: Is this open world?
A: Not really. It's not open world in the sense of similarity to Skyrim. There are instead multiple open world
regions separated by loading. Each region is said to be massive however, with some being larger than the entire
play-space of Dragon Age Origins.

Q: Is this a strategy RPG? Can I play it in real-time like an action game?
A: You certainly can if that's what you want. Players can play the game like any real-time action-RPG. You also
have the option of pausing the gameplay, strategizing and issuing commands to your party and then watch the action unfold.

Q: I want to import my saves into the game, how do I do that!?
A: You don't. Given that Inquisition is on a completely different engine as well as being across two different
generations of consoles, save importing would've been a complex task to accomplish.

Q: Sooo what do I do?
A: BioWare has developed the "Dragon Age Keep", which you can find here. This is a browser based application
where you can make decisions on hundreds of choices and scenarios from the prior two games and import
them into your game via your Origin account. The game builds that world state for you when you start.

Q: I miss the tactical camera of Dragon Age: Origins, is that still gone in Inquisition?
A: It's actually back and for all platforms! An isometric tactical camera was one of the most requested
features to return to Inquisition after its absence from Dragon Age 2.

Q: Does the PC version offer gamepad support?
A: Sure does.

Q: What!? Multiplayer!?
A: Yes, the multiplayer mode in Dragon Age: Inquisition will feature 4-player cooperative quests separate from
the single-player open-world story.

Q: Will playing MP be required to get the full-game experience?
A: No. The SP campaign is separate from MP. In SP, you have the support of 3 specialists who can send agents to
missions. MP characters are agents. At the start of a MP mission, you will hear one of the specialists explaining the
goal of your mission.

Q: Is multiplayer going to affect my endings in the story?
A: Not at all. Bioware's goal with the multiplayer was to simply give fans the chance to play with their friends for the
first time in the Dragon Age universe. It will have no effect on the single player experience.

Q: What kind of rig do I need for this? Any spec differences between console versions?
A: Glad you asked, here are the PC requirements!

  • CPU: AMD six-core CPU @ 3.2 GHz, Intel quad-core CPU @ 3.0 GHz

Has there been any patches released on the console side yet? My buddy ran into some big issues on XB1 so I've been holding off on playing the game until Bioware cleans the game up a bit.

Maybe the most perfect OT title? The Hinderlands are a nice opening area but you're better off coming back to it over time, alternating between areas when you need breaks from doing one thing until it's done.

No, they haven't released any console patches yet.

One is supposedly in production though and should be with us soon.

For a moment there I thought the last thread got closed because I said something bad.

No it's not in the "recipe" section. I already read some guides and walkthroughs and everyone says "Vivienne's room or book merchant". Nope, it's not there.

Don't think so. Knowing BioWare patches though they break more than they fix so you might as well just jump in.

I heard there are three patches on the way, but the first of those are at least a week away. They said they are looking into the Banter bug but it's not the first thing that will be patched.

Hopefully some of these patches fix the major sound issues the game has. Every single time you fast travel the audio disappears, and then loads bit by bit after a while. Sometimes even after it's loaded the jumping sounds are heard 3 seconds after I jump. It feels like the game is running online like WoW and the feedback is delayed.

What's the best specialization for an Archer? I'm not interested in challenge, I just want to kill shit as efficiently and fast as possible.

That OT advice is crucial to enjoying DA:I as intended... good stuff.

I caught Hinterlands disease.. I wallowed there for what felt like an eternity.. and I was starting to get bored big time.. going back now is so much more rewarding, actually beating those harder rifts as your party gets geared/levelled, awesome.

Party question InquisitionGAF- Iron Bull sits in my tavern with no dialogue options since I got to Skyhold and talked to him for the first time.. I'm sure he's been approving quite a bit, any way I can bump his approval so I can get some sweet Bull' side quests going?

For the love of Andraste, please don't let him be bugged......

Hinterlands is a damn nice area, love the looks there.

The whole game looks stunning imho. So many moments where I just look at the landscape. I should start taking screenshots.

I wish I could've left the Hinterlands. I spent a good 20 hours there... I can get a little OCD with some games so I wasn't able to leave until I had completed every side quest I could there.

Never!

You can't tell me what to do!

*dies again against the level 12 Rifts*

Okay, maybe I should leave...

Nah just do what I did and hit your head against high level rifts until you luckily beat them. :p

Edit: I killed my first Dragon before I left the Hinterlands.... i'm not playing on a hard difficulty setting. Haha!

While as a whole the visuals are kinda lacking, some of the environment stuff is stunning.

The art and scope is awesome, and the atmospheric effects in some areas are amazing. I was in the Western Approach last night and you can see this tower in the distance with a huge wolf statue on the mountain, with clouds and fog rolling by them. Oh, best part is you can go to the tower.

Oh, you think the Hinterlands are your ally. But you merely adopted the Hinterlands; I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn't see the entire map until I was already level 8, by then it was nothing to me but BLINDING!

There are way too fucking many quests in this game and Hinterlands has an obscene amount of shit to do. A lot of it being find thing - > go to waypoint.

DON'T BOTHER

30 hours in and a return trip to the Hinterlands is happening soon. That Dragon will be mine!....as soon as I level up 1-2 more times.

Crestwood is fucking awesome though in the meantime!

I was playing on Nightmare for a good portion before I just decided to go back to normal. Too many headaches. Nearly chucked my controller in frustration one time because of Despair Demons.

After 120+ hours of Normal, I'm back in the damn Hinterlands on Nightmare. Nothing says reload like that Bear bringing it's brother and 3 stray Mabari with it to play.

I don't want this game to end. Good thing I'm far from it. Just love the world. Don't like the main characters voice, the combat isn't ground breakingly exciting and the loot could be more rewarding but I really love the over all package.
I'll tell you one thing, I am SICK of charging my PS4 controller from playing this. My God this things charge sucks ass.

I left Hinterlands at level 11 with 1 zone & landmark left (the one with the dragon).
And now I'm in Western Approach with the same situation. I can't find the last zone & land mark and I'm sure I've covered every area. I can summon the dragon already if I wanted to. Is the last zone in Approach unlocked after I killed the high dragon?

I can't!
When I see an unfinished quest in my journal from an area I all ready visited, it gnaws at my brain.
I can't even concentrate on anything else at that point, Cassandra is telling me something about the world coming to an end and all I can think about is how I must go back to Hinterlands and find some farmers lost ram.

40 hours in. I thought the game was big before but I can't believe how much more there is to explore once you unlock the Skyhold. Incredible game!

I really wish we had an encounter with (enemy type)
Darkspawn Ogre and/or Desire Demons. We fought Darkspawns and many demons but I never came across those two enemy types.

Then you should probably stop playing the game, because it's going to destroy you. You will be Druffalo dung by the end of it.

So I'm hopelessly addicted to the multiplayer. I haven't really loaded my beloved SP game in like a week or so. MP is SO good.

I prestiged my Archer last night, and am already level 14 on him again, and got the best armor for him available. I've gone ahead and started a Reaver as well, and already made the best armor for him. I'll start on him in earnest once I max my Archer again.

Anyone out there who is enjoying it as much as me can feel free to friend me on PSN. I'm not the best player out there, and I don't usually wear a mic, but if you just wanna run some missions hit me up.

Repost from end of last thread. C'mon y'all, let's age some dragons!

Only the day one patch, new ones are coming soon.

Thanks! Hopefully I'll have finished Mordor when the patch finally rolls out. Heard fantastic things about the actual game, can't wait!

Probably the reason why I still haven't finished the game.
The later areas of the game such as Emerald Graves have a ton of trolls walking around the nothern area, usually that's when I turn back and go to skyhold to continue the story.
I still haven't even visited a lot of the new areas...

I'm pretty sure that
Ogres
are in the game. I haven't encountered one but a friend of mine was ranting about them to me over text message, so i assume they're there but rare.
Desire Demons
, however, do seem to be absent by all accounts.
