Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen PC |OT| Wolves hunt in 4K

Don't remember this happening on console. I did to it on normal and I started over..but this went to character creation lol.

Suppose to do that?

If you mean by the intro dungeon with the chimaera then no, I don't think so. That is supposed to happen after you encounter the dragon...

Can you choose the difficulty when you change to NG+?

For example, normal first play through, then Hard on NG+.

Absolutely. You can even start on hard in the middle of NG actual, without finishing it and get all your shit with you, minus the story progression.

Note XP is doubled when playing in hard mode. Also there is an item that doubles XP on top of the existing XP rate, so using Blessed Flowers during hard mode would give you quad XP. Blessed Flower explained here, plus avoiding pitfalls and general tips:

Other info such as best inclinations for warrior pawn, Automatic Vocation ranking (which everyone should know) and other important information such as "Who hired my pawn?" can be found above.

I read that and remembered that Port Crystals are the absolute best item to gift to a brand new player.

Gonna spend 3 days on the character creator. I just rushed off when I played this before, now I want to take some time.

Woah, 40 mins? Well I'm interested in doing that sometime.
Yes, your vocation decides some story rewards, so you have to replay the game several times to get them all.
At some point I was just flying through the game and the fastest I think I got through it was 36 minutes.

Ehh, kinda?
Switching difficulties always resets the game, and ng+ doesn't actually change anything, so you are effectly just reseting the game everytime you go into "ng+" or change difficulty.

At work all day, and can't play this until later this weekend, but listening to the soundtrack of this game has me very excited to jump in. Into Free is un-findable everywhere but some old page on G4's website from 2012

Into Free is also on the US iTunes store for $0.69. WELL WORTH IT!

Dumb questions while I wait to get off work:

-Any SLi configs yet?

-Any nice GeDoSaTo configs?

-Best starting pawn for an Arisen that wants to go Fighter then spec into Mystic Knight?

Savegame tool I made for converting savegames from 360/PS3 to PC: http://www.tzarsectus.com/tools/DDsavetool.rar

You can also unpack and repack saves to/from XML with it. Read the readme.txt for usage information. When converting savegame from console to PC, you'll also need a PC savegame (it reads your steam id from the PC savegame and adds it to the converted savegame). Getting your savegame file from console might be a small hassle, but I'm sure anyone who really wants to convert their savegame are familiar with copying save files from xbox or ps3.

There's a limitation that you have to be using a console Dark Arisen savegame when converting; it can't be an original Dragon's Dogma save.

If you converted a savegame with v1.0 of this tool from xbox to PC and you're experiencing problems going online in the game. Use this command "DDAsavetool -reset DDDA.sav" to reset online pawn data which will fix this issue. Any saves converted from v1.1 and forward should not have this problem.

Example of converted save:
Xbox: http://abload.de/img/2016-01-15_18-00-51ffs1v.jpg
PC: http://abload.de/img/ddda2016-01-1517-56-49vs4x.jpg

You can find your PC savegame at \\Steam\userdata\[steamuserid]\367500\remote\DDDA.sav

The tool requires VS2008 C++ runtime libraries to be installed: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29

That's fantastic. Will this make it easier to just copy and paste created characters into save files as well?

I'm guessing Steam servers have failed (wow, I'm shocked, I can't ever think when that has happened, except for every other time something popular happens on Steam) as Steam is trying and failing to download an update for this.

What is the symptom that it's trying and failing? (I assume you are not mistaking the unlocking, that is green graph to the network(blue) ?)

Is anyone else's game loading up in windowed mode even though fullscreen is checked? Every time I start up the game I have to go into the options and reset it.

Any word on performance on an i5 processor and a 290x (or similar combinations)?

4k performance specifically 👍 (if there is already a PC performance thread, a link would be nice).

Is anyone else having audio problems with the opening cutscene that plays immediately after the prologue? The sound is all distorted and there's a ton of static that happens while it plays.

That definitely should be possible. I haven't fiddled much with the values in the savefile, but everything is in text form so you'd just need to find the values which are related to character creation and replace those.

Yeah I was getting confused with the decryption.
Just Steams usual utterly shite disk performance. Same issue when installing from a DVD, Steam takes absolutely forever to do pretty much anything with a hard disk besides downloading from the internet to it.

It took me literally 10 minutes to actually download the game via Steam, how can it take several times longer than that to decrypt? I'm tempted to just delete it and re-download. When that's the faster option, there's something wrong with your software.

MY GOD! SO SMOOOOOOOOOTH!

It's sooooo weird...but it's been a long time coming :)

What really got me is that the face tattoo options are no longer incomprehensible blobs of pixels.

EDIT: HOLY SHIT YOU CAN TILT THE CAMERA DURING CHARACTER CREATION WITH TRIGGERS

WHY DIDN'T I KNOW THIS FOR THE PS3 VERSION

EDIT 2: CAMERA TILTING IS PRESSURE SENSITIVE. FUCK!
