With your party of three Pawns, the demo allows you to experience the different styles of two of the game’s character classes in two challenging encounters.

A melee specialist skilled in both attacks and counterattacks, as the Fighter you will make your way through underground tunnels and chambers before taking on the deadly Chimera in a Prologue quest, set before the events of the main game. Swift and nimble, the Strider’s weapons of choice are bow and daggers, use them well if you are to defeat the mighty Griffin in the open plains surrounding the capital of Gransys.

Let your imagination run wild and design both your playable character and main Pawn using the game’s incredibly in-depth character creation tools before you take on the Griffin; purchasers of Dragon’s Dogma will then be able to export both these characters into the full game on its release.

Glad there's going to be a demo. I've been interested but wanted to give it a shot first.

Will wait for the Super or PC version before getting the game. I have being burnt way too many times by Capcom and I'm not rewarding them at full price.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.

Too bad the message capcom got from this is most likely: "People likes being burnt with fighting games, since they bought all of them, but they hate new IPs, more fighting games!"

Wicked will try it out next week. Although TBH, even if the demo doesn't impress me I'm still getting it.

Do we get to keep all the items and stuff found in the dungeon for the real game, or is it just the class and looks we get to retain?

Doubt we get to retain anything, you have to choose between 2 classes...

It's just the prologue and a griffin fight, so I don't think you're going to get anything interesting, the prologue is another character too.

I've heard the term 'pawns' thrown around a lot when it comes to this game. Honestly I wasn't keeping up with it much, but could anyone explain to me why they refer to characters as such?

I played the griffin fight a year ago at last year's Captivate in Miami. It was fun back THEN, so I can only imagine it now.

Pawns are AI controlled characters in your party. You'll have a main pawn (one that you design yourself) and two support pawns that you can add to your party in the game world or in the "Rift". Pawns in the Rift are player created. They may be able to help you by giving you hints about how to beat a certain boss. That's assuming that they've already fought that enemy.

A japanese game that I'm actually excited to play. Crazy times we're living in.

The PS3 version better not be dogshit either.

Wasn't the PS3 the lead platform? I actually saw screen tear in one of the streams on the 360 version. PS3 version had zero problems, unless you call the letterboxing a problem.

Eurogamer has a new preview where they talk about the difficulty

That flexibility is essential, as while Dragon's Dogma doesn't have the punishing difficulty of Dark Souls, it shares a similar fondness for bloodying your nose should you try to get ahead of yourself, tackling quests and areas beyond your capabilities. A little more ambient information about when you're straying past those boundaries might be useful - I spent a long time smashing my face against one story quest before learning I was a good ten levels away from being up to the task - but for those who prefer a gritty climb rather than the smoothly greased ascent of Skyrim, it should provide a solid challenge.

I threw money down on a preorder based on the hype thread. The demo will either cement my purchase or I'll wait till a price drop. Too many games in my backlog for me.

Cheers, looks pretty original in its concept. still its a shame you won't get 'proper' companions.

Can your posts get any worse?

Is such a thing possible?
You seem upset.

I hope it's actually difficult and doesn't solely rely on punishing you for exploring by throwing way over-leveled creatures at you. The way it's worded makes it seem like if you stay on the paths and quests you're supposed to it won't be that hard.

Nifty. The game has my interest after a few videos. I look forward to seeing how it feels firsthand. Since it's coming so close on the heels of Witcher 2 though, I probably won't pick it up till later in the summer.

Hurray! I'll be buying it anyway but it'll be nice to play a little before release date.

Looking very forward to this.

What do you mean that we can't play as a mage? What the fuck? I need to test it OUT!

Character export, more demos need to do this.
All demos should do either this or come with a gift of some kind for those who explore the demo fully imo. Like the summer outfits for the Final Fantasy Type-0 demo. Helps promote the game and give a thanks to the ones who checked it out prior to release.

The PS3 version of games that are based on MT Framework are almost always v-synced (triple buffered IIRC) and the 360 versions are soft-synced meaning that the v-sync is dropped when the frame-rate takes a hit introducing tearing to avoid bigger frame-rate drops.

Besides that the MT Framework games on 360 have a problem with tearing when the system is upscaling the image at 1080p so maybe that was the reason that you saw tearing on the 360 version...MT Framework games almost always run and look better on the 360 so if Dragon's Dogma is better on the PS3 it will be a surprise. :p

Yeah, I also hope it doesn't get easy because you're somehow over leveled

How about those SFxT sales? :p

Can't wait. Glad I'll get to see the performance on both consoles well before release date.

I don't know much about that quite honestly, I don't buy their fighting games and don't follow it all that much lol, it just seems to me they've been doing the same thing with fighting games for quite a while (since the 90s), and it seems to me people keeps buying them is all.

The character creation will probably keep me occupied till the game's release... can't wait till next week. (I hope it's not a Gold / PS+ exclusivity)
