I don't get what the big deal is? I was browsing some twitter replies and forum posts, people are going nuts over this. How can people not want a larger audience for these games? I'd happily buy a PS5, even if a lot of the games get ported to PC.

Im pretty sure they are preparing their own PlayStation Store for Windows in a close future, they have a giant portfolio and want more money for more first party games and Im ok with that.
And everyone should be ok with that. If Sony thinks they can make more cash by distributing games on different platforms, who gives a shit?

Gears 1 was a solid exclusive for 360 in the early days. It came to PC a year later with better graphics and even an extra level fighting a Brumak. Did Xbox gamers care? Didn't seem so.

360 gaming continued to thrive and PC gamers get some Gears fun.

Gamers who only want their favourite games to be on the platform they own.

You never see them caring about their VCR, dvd player, MP3/phone media player, being only to play certain movies or songs. To them, the more content let loose on any platform the better. Movies, songs, and classic TV shows for everyone.

Oh wait, but when it comes to video game boxes, I want to make sure I get to play MAG or God of War only on my plastic box. Even if it means a multiplayer game's online community disappears faster due to a smaller potential online base that's ok. As long as no other platform gamers play it, I'm happy if this game has zero online players left.

Well, I *think* that some of the enhanced features of the PS ports could use RTX making graphics fidelity in next-gen territory. Just a feeling I have..I could be wrong.

I cannot believe 3 people responded godfall when my post was about Sony games.

I'm taking it people haven't done their homework and haven't even done a tiny bit of research on the only announced PS5 game before coming in to shit on the PS5?
Not just that, but you realize nobody wants to talk about the article that said "We have not seen anything yet from SWWS", "Godfall is console exclusive, but it's nothing compared to some of the games Sony proper have cooking" visually etc...….

So yes, I'll take Godfall and other games that are just like Godfall, relative to third party exclusivity, like FF7R and Shenmue this gen..... and of course the SWWS games will just blow minds...….. Anybody thinking PS5 exclusives will make it day and date on PC are out of their minds.....This is not Sony's first rodeo...…...Yes they want to expand their sales, but primarily for older PS4 titles....

And people have to open their minds, look at this, people are worried about Horizon, but pretty much every generation Sony has a tonne of new IP's, we're not recycling Halo, Gears and Forza here......This gen we had DC, 1886, Until Dawn, Horizon, Dreams, Tsushima, Days Gone. Spiderman, Concrete Genie, Bloodborne, Knack, Entwined, The Last Guardian, Alienation, Matterfall and a tonne of third party exclusives........In what world is a company who is the king of selling consoles does not have a clue how to sell the PS5.......Personally, I expect the PS5 will have more exclusives than any previous PS console, regardless if they offer a few PS4 games up for PC gamers to enjoy, they've been begging for some console games for way too long anyway.....I say give them a morsel....

In the short term it isn't a big deal but Ling term it definitely will be(if they start to release more and more)

It's just illogical to invest in a platform with less capabilities as another platform with the same games. As I stated above, that's a big if, we do not know if Sony will pull a full Microsoft strategy by releasing everything on PC and day one.

For me I will probably still buy Playstation no matter what because I'm used to the ecosystem and brand. Not to mention all the money I have in it. I don't have a endless budget to get a 1k pc on top of the games. Many others don't either.

The ease of a console is far better as well compared to a pc.

"hurrr?"

Because PS4 games are about to be a generation OLD, and Since PS5 is backwards compatible why not sell the old games on PC. PS5 Games would remain exclusive to move consoles, at least for a long time.
Yes, the games will be old (some of them), but they will have enhancements that make them look pretty damn good. These aren't "straight ports". These are games that had assets that couldn't run on the current gen consoles to begin with and will now be seen on hardware that can handle the bandwidth.

By old I didn't mean they were some retro garbage that no one wants anymore, I meant that it's not going to hurt Sony at all to put it on PC it's already done its job on console.

Of course. But that could be in a 6 month time frame. Death Stranding won't be even a year old and will be on PC. These games are already running on the PC dev machines. The actual waiting would only be for corporate reasons only. Sony isn't going to sit on a PC version for over a year when it's ready to go at the time it releases for the PS4/PS5.

Releasing Dreams on PC is closer to Sony allowing PC owners to use one of their game engines, than it is Sony releasing a cross-platform 1st party game.

Kojima Productions is not a Sony first party and Yes they will continue to keep their new releases to themselves.
They are not going to just give up the main reason people by their system. "Only on PlayStation"
And I'm saying this as a person who would like to see their games on PC.
Just because you want it to be true doesn't mean it makes sense.
There are lots of other reasons that make more sense. Them already doing the work to port DECIMA engine to PC for Death Stranding is one of them.
If the game sells well it may lead to some more older titles being brought over to PC, but you're too excited and getting carried away if you think they will bring over new games anywhere close to there PS5 release dates if at all.

You are forgetting that I worked in the industry and have info you don't. It's not that I want it to be true.. it is what it is.

If you work in the industry, can you tell all your programmer buddies to make slicker moving menu screens? Like 60 fps swiftness? I don't get how in 2019-2020 you can still play games where the boring menu and option screens feel sluggish like it's a PS1/Saturn era game!

I don't care if you were scrubbing the toilets at Geurilla Games you clearly don't have any info the rest of us don't.
Simple logic and reasoning, a skill a lot of you lack provides me with most of the answers I need.

If they expand Dreams to PC and allow some sort of paid content system where they take a cut of user created content, they might actually be able to make back all the money they wasted on developing it.

What? That a first party studio is making a game for PlayStation and PC at the same time? All the games are created on a PC anyway. Whether it or any game gets released on PC is going to be purely a business/corporate decision, not a technical one.

The rhetoric that you're slinging around seems like it's suggesting that Sony are hell-bent on destroying their own console business. Can't you understand why this flies in the face of reality?

Either people don't read or they've got short memories. I really don't understand why people think this is news. Just to fill you in, they're still working on the licencing agreement.

It's so nice to see someone with a balanced perspective. Great post.

Do you know how many times I've said that? Of course I know that. I'm glad someone is repeating me.

This is good. Think about how many more prisoners are going to get reformed because they have access to this game.

Sony doing the world a service.
