Dusk Golem - Resident Evil: Zero and Code Veronica Remakes won’t be as “ambitious” as RE4 Remake

Eh, Zero doesnt even need one anyway, better off using those resources to remake 1, can only imagine they're doing it this way so Zero actually makes sense in the timeline, Instead of Rebecca being a fully armed tyrant killer then regressing into medic who can barely shoot again.

Shame about CV if true though, that could have been just as great as RE4 remake

I hadn't played RE4 until the remake and it was awesome, it just kept on going! I had played Village before that so I was stuck a bit in that headspace.

I dont want them to overdo it anyways. Just keep it simple focus on the graphics and controls. Storylines should only be tweaked for continuity, not that usual "hey what about THIS idea" No, guarantee your "new" ideas are stupid, leave it alone.

I don't blame Capcom for not investing more in both games, Code V and Zero are both the worst RE games I have ever played. Code V is too long with trash story and enemies. Zero is simply a bad game with both character gimmick and the pace was affected by that.

I hope they don’t go the RE3 route and cut levels/content. If they are of RE2 remake level that’s more than enough. Please take your time with CV. That has potential to be the best one.

Code Veronica can easily hardlock the player in multiple situations, the game wasn't even properly tested.

Zero was crap anyway and the turning point of the series going full retard. I still cringe about some tranny guy singing opera with mind controlled leeches.

It apparently got a lot of hate, but I didn't think RE3 remake was all that bad.

I had fun with it.

If these remakes are better than RE3, I'll enjoy them for sure.

I wonder what will happen with the RE franchise when Capcom is done with the remakes.

Start over again?

Just kidding they'll focus on new entries and THEN they'll start over again.

They actually don't make a ton of new mainline entries.

RE1-3 - PS1
RE4, CV, 0 - PS2, DC, GC, Xbox
RE5-6 - PS3/360
RE7 - PS4/X1
RE8 - PS5/XBS

They're actually slowing down quite a bit because of the remakes, which all in all is probably a good thing.

I do not understand why the abortion known as Zero is getting a remake in the first place. They should remake Outbreak games instead. The original Code Veronica is awesome narratively, but the gameplay and pacing is underwhelming. There is a lot of room for improvement. I would really be tempted to check them both out if they made them almost as good as Resident Evil 3 Remake in gameplay and presentation. That one is even better than Resident Evil 4 Remake to do fun speed runs in despite a much smaller scale. If they are like RE2R I would likely only play through Code Veronica once.

TLDR: Resident Evil 3 Remake is peak and I hope Code Veronica Remake is as good.

At some point they will probably do a complete reboot. I mean do they eventually just kill off all the old characters and start from scratch again. Maybe I’m dead by than.

RE 3 remake is definitely not peak. Its only positive is what you said about speed running. The rest is, as a remake, dogshit.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Code Veronica can easily hardlock the player in multiple situations, the game wasn't even properly tested.

Fortunately it also has a very easy to exploit infinite herb glitch that works on every version since the launch, even the remaster. If I ever replay that game, that's the first thing I do because it has really weird difficulty spikes.

1 is not only the perfect REmake, but the perfect remake. Doesn't need another

That's one of the reasons I love CVX so much. Lol. It's not afraid to completely dick you over.

Not the faint of heart but man, once you know the proper way to approach and plan for certain sections, it's just so damn good when it comes to classic-era RE gameplay. The most annoying part to me is the poison moth hallway in antarctica.

While I agree with you, the only reason it needs one now is to keep in line with the other remakes. 4 has introduced Wesker to people who started with the modern remakes but have no idea who he is. Should they just play the current game, yes as its amazing but not everyone "modern" gamer is gonna be able to tolerate the way it plays.

Plus anything that gives me more Jill to play as is a postive in my book.

Dusk Golem isn't totally reliable with his leaks. Occasionally he gets them right, but back in May he said that RE9 wasn't being delayed, was aimed for a January 2025 release, and would be revealed very soon. It's now September, so there's no way that was true. I'd take this with a grain of salt for now.

Zero needs a remake more than the reREmake tbh. So much to improve there, and 0 should be done before 1 if we want to properly tie in Rebecca and her story development.

Also the strong chance that another REmake would have a VR mode.

Can you imagine?!?! To actually be inside the Spencer Mansion. I would lose my mind from sheer delight.

It's cool to see how many people actually dislike Code Veronica. Few games have disappointed me as much as that particular title. I remember losing my mind not being able to play it at release because it was a Dreamcast exclusive. Instead, I begrudgingly played RE3 cause I only had a Playstation. Thankfully RE3 is amazing. Years later, when the PS2 port of RECV came out, I couldn't believe how bad it was. Like, why was there so much hype over a game that was so clunky? It was significantly less refined that RE3.

Whether they alter Code Veronica's story out of cowardice or leave it the same as the original will determine if I purchase it.

I'm guessing you're referring to the trans character. Man, I hope they alter that story's execution. It is so cringey and poorly done. I would love to seem them reapproach it in a more mature manner cause I think it's a neat enough concept in a Norman Bates kind of way. That said, if they scrap it altogether, I'm cool with that too. It was half-baked and dumb, IMO, so 86'ing it would be no huge loss.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
So the two that needs the most done won't be as ambitious as the one that didn't...

He wasn't even trans, just crazy with multiple personalities and one being his twin sister. An obvious homage to Hitchcock's psycho. If they alter it then I'm out.

That's fine. Of course I'd like a proper remake of Code: Veronica, it's in need of it. But I'd even take a remaster at this point.

They pretty much turned him into Joker in Darkside Chronicles and I suspect that's where they'll go.
DSC also made it so Alexia didn't seem to care at all about Alfred's death when in the original she coddled his dead body letting you know she at least gave a damn about her brother. Really hope they keep that. Yes it was extremely creepy, off-putting and implied incest but them being twisted is what made them interesting in a game series like Resident Evil. Even include Alfred having the split personality to cope with Alexia freezing herself for the TV-virus.

I would argue that the original RE3 was as dogshit and extra as RE Zero and to completely revamp it into something entertaining was an amazing feat. To make it more fun to replay and more cohesive in presentation and pacing than any other title was unprecedented.

It's the golden age for RE.. just wanna say keep them coming, yearly like FIFA and COD .. :D But anyway quality over quantity, just keep making the good shit without big gaps is perfectly fine!

Thats one hell of a hot take pal.
OG RE3 is an incredible title and putting anywhere near RE 0 is a travesty.

But hey, you do you.

Enough time will pass from the first remake, so they will remake that. The bastards.
Anyway, didn't know they're doing a Zero remake, I'd love a co-op mode, I guess it could be done.

they probably will go with diversity characters.
