Damn, so much Nintendo praise. Really? I hope it's all just sarcastic humor.

I don't want to be rude, but I agree with the sentiments expressed in this Penny Arcade comic about Political Cartoonists.

As an example I would lose the text here. A Kaz head, Reggie head and Master Chief head would be more comical and elegant. PC would use a Jesus head.

Eh.. at least I tried. Thought I feel something's missing...
I'm probably going to be lynched for suggesting this, but how about Indy ascending a hill to see the mushroom cloud over the horizon, with this superimposed over it. You can skip the fridge part, nobody wants to see that.

Many people are hyping up nintendo so much, and it could meant that nintendo could backfired. Someone hold me, I am scared of Nintendo's future.

That already happened with their horrible Wii U reveal last year. Unless Nintendo manages to screw up their new console reveal twice in a row, the hype should be worth it this time.

I'd personally be satisfied if all they show is the new Smash Bros and 3D Mario.

I'm sort of surprised that I haven't seen this combination before. It might exist somewhere...but just in case.

Frankly I'm pretty grossed out at the idea that the way for Nintendo to blow Microsoft and Sony out of the water is to have the same cycle of sequels they have every console generation without showing any real progress in gameplay or creativity - virtues that we have seen less and less frequently from them with each passing generation despite a new gimmick with every platform release (although obviously each console provides some masterful titles that are too far apart).

I just don't see how people can get THAT excited about another 3D Zelda, another Smash Brothers, another Mario Kart, another Animal Crossing despite the highs of each series and then act like they FINALLY UNDERSTAND THE CORE GAMER!

If that is the case Nintendo should just res-up all the previous generations hits call it a day, it seems to make up a vast majority of their first party output anyway.

So wii sports and the slew of wii games wasnt progress in creativity? Or the new IPs they made on the DS in the same time frame?

No great gaming thread is complete without him

OMG, I just saw the movie (again) a week ago, and it was one my favourite movies when I was small, and is still fucking great.
Watching the scene the ohter week and the gif now, reading the dialogs it really captures the feeling of the movie. BRAVO!

People don't know what they want until it's given to them. That's why if you ask a gamer what they want, they'll either say, "More or the same," or "Surprise me." You hear much more of the former, because it's easier to speak (and speculate) in specific terms, but that doesn't mean that people don't want to see completely original stuff.

Bravo, toddhunter. Bravo.

Sakurai has barely started thinking about Smash, I doubt there will be anything significant about it there.

:(

I still hope there's a decent teaser or something.

I actually agree with you. Nintendo isn't going to blow away Sony and Microsoft or capture the core gamers just with HD versions of their same franchises, a tablet, and PS360 ports like a lot of Nintendo fanatics seem to think. That doesn't really matter much to me though, since I'm a multiplatform owner.

The reason I said I just need Smash Bros and a 3D Mario is because I was just speaking personally. I'd love to say that Retro's new game, the 3rd party exclusives, and whatever new IPs pop up would sell the show to me as well. But I'm not convinced that they will. Most of Nintendo's new IPs don't interest me in the slightest. And the new 2D Mario will likely be very underwhelming just like the rest of the NSMB games.

Smash Bros and 3D Marios are all I can really count on to get me pumped for sure. Maybe Mario Kart as well.
Animal Crossing can suck it though.
I guess it's just low expectations.
