I can't get past the murder porn. Just not for me.

Hey really fucking fantastic animation on that kiss scene, much better than any game I can remember right now. Kissing was always really off putting in games for how unnatural and Team America Sex Scene it looks.

As an animator i commend that scenes animation - its one of the toughest actions to animate. That said, the scene in general just felt weird to me, i think it was too uncanny valley for me

I don't understand whats the issue with this!!? I bet you anything if Ellie would have kissed boy in first game again kissed a guy in this game you wouldn't complaining about it would you? Because that much more normal or natural in your eyes.

I don't know, I think the whole scene was odd and lacked context, kiss or not. Girls kissing in a church seems to be a blatant attempt at getting reactions out of people.

Lacked context? They are clearly couple and gay or not normal couples kiss. I honestly don't understand whats big deal here. Is developers not allowed have gay main characters in their games unless they are accused of pushing some kind of agenda here?

I couldn't care less if they are gay or not, but what was that scene about? How did it have anything to do with the gameplay they showed? It was an obvious play for a reaction in my opinion, but feel free to disagree.

I would have actually preffered to see more of that scene to see what it was all about instead of the murder porn. It certainly was more interesting than the gameplay.

And I'm sure many people didn't like seeing interracial couples or minority sitcoms on TV during the 70's and 80's. The fact of the matter is, entertaining has always been used as a platform to help break down berries within society. Just imagine where we would directors, producers etc. didn't push for sitcoms staring monitors, white sitcoms touching on racial issues or TV shows featuring interracial couples.

So yes, it may seem pushed to some, but it has to start from somewhere, and Druckmann is not afraid to do it.

The first trailer we saw she was looking for revenge and that girl might have something to with it. This also why Ellie willing to murder them in horrible way.

I think it was marketing. ND is trying to get more sails from the non-white heterosexual male crowd. What better way to do that then to make the gay character the lead and show that in your main trailer for the game. Where the heck is Joel?

I agree with the uncanny valley, to me it was Ellie's face. It looked weird. It didn't look bad, far from it, but the mix of the rounder shape of her face with those eyes just creeped me out.

Can't believe they were so fucking shameless.
They win award for the most amount of scripts per second.

They already did that with TLOU1 famous demo but TLOU2 demo takes the cake. At least TLOU1 was believable. This one on other hand is straight up fantasy. Though i have no doubt many people will eat it up without questioning anything.

I mean you have to be fucking blind to not see scripting everywhere: perfect misses, enemy AI, last moment actions etc.

Except that’s what people said about the UC4 gameplay reveal...and yet the dynamic gameplay was exactly as impressive.

The bad things:
Their teeth are too white, characters look like a puppets.
Why?why? One woman can defeat every single fucking man?
Feminist
Overrated,overhyped as hell
Probably the story is a single revenge about revenge that horse headed girl who kiss Ellie.

Well that would at least give all the brutality context.

I think the emphasis on the kills is a no for me. ;_;

Ok ladies and gentlemen weve found the one man whos figured out what the hell death stranding is. You must be a genius. Problem is Hideo Kojima is just 'slightly' more of a genius than you in this world of video games so ill put my faith in him. Thank you come again.
Wow why did you take it so personal? That's mostly what the trailed showed, walking in many different places, it even showed the guy walking with the baby "activated" after he said he had an idea. So you might as well reread the first part of the comment you quoted.

I'm surprised people have been so caught up on the opening scene before the gameplay started. It's 2 minute cutscene in a much larger game, how can expect to have so much context around it? What did people think of the actual gameplay?

Her sexual orientation aren't her motivations in the game. Even if she was trying to find her female lover as the main plot device her being gay isn't her motivation. Love would be. By promoting her lesbianism up front they are making a statement. For every non-white hetero males they get in sales they probably lost someone who crying about how this game is going to be shit cause its SJW. That is bad business. The pro LGBT+ gaming news sites, like all of the major gaming sites these days, would have reminded everyone about Ellie's orientation for Sony. More money goes to Sony over all. The Developers win. LGBT+ gamers win. People who don't want overt politics in their marketing win.

I personally really like it so far. It feels brutal, especially the fact you don't have enough bullet to start fire fights like in Uncharted games. Also I'm really glad that they took listen mode or maybe its still there if play on it easier difficulty setting.

Gameplay was amazing. It was essentially Horizon Zero Dawn and The Last of Us amped to 11. The speed looked really good and the ability to craft so fast was awesome. Also, I don't have anything bad to say about the scene in and of itself. The animation was good and I am sure the context of the opening scene will make sense in the game and that is all that really matters.

The thing that matters is that her lover will die, and that's why she's how she was in the first trailer. Shits gonna go down.

Also, just watching it again, I thought it was scripted when she took out the arrow from her shoulder, but there was a button prompt for it. So sick. It's definitely a pre-recorded video. Not scripted.

Deeply troubled that Americans still find two girls kissing as "overt politics."

If Ellie were to kiss some dude in the exact same setting and context no one would have made these "oh it doesn't fit"/"it's being forced down my throat" remarks. ONLY when LGBTQ+ couples show their love do those comments get made. It's pathetic.

Looking forward to another game to wreck my emotions. Going to be great. :)

go play UC4 again and see if there is any big improvement in TLOU 2's graphics

It took Naughty Dog longer to master developing for the PS3. The Cell processor was notorious for being hard to code for. PS4 was easy to develop for from the get-go so to expect the same improvement is unrealistic. I do agree with the scripted comments though.

Nobody who realizes they might be "forcing" Ellie's love-interest because most likely the girl will get killed or whatever during the upcoming patrol they mention?
Druckmann already stated that the theme of Part II will be "hate" and we already got from the reveal trailer that Ellie is out to seek revenge.
From a promotional standpoint, this is good way to help setup the story.

I agree. I don't think it's as scripted as people may think. Naughty Dog are experts at dynamic gameplay with Uncharted 4 series and Last of Us being examples of that. There would have been some scripted moments, but it would have been pre-recorded and after being rehearsed 100 of times.

I always found kissing scenes in games always a bit awkward regardless of the gender.

I don't mind the lesbian kiss at all, but did the other girl have to be so ugly ? The gameplay was obviously heavily scripted, but that's understandable, they want to show off every little cool thing they worked on.

I think Druckman is trying to make a statement and it was very off putting. It felt very forced in this E3 trailer.

I was on the day one train for TLoU2 until I saw this trailer and then I realised that this is now an uber niche product that isn't targeted towards the average gamer... or person, if we're honest. It's devalued the franchise for me completely and put a bad taste in my mouth.
It's a genuine shame, as I loved the first game.

How is this an "uber niche product"? And how is it not targeted at the "average gamer or person"?

I mean, your theory would hold more water, if it were not for Left Behind, which was released eons ago, and makes quite clear that even if Ellie wouldn't be 100% lesbian, she's into girls. It's canon.

How do you know we're not playing as Joel?
Well, from how they've been marketing the game so far I think playing as Ellie is to be expected. Maybe they'll eventually throw Joel a bone and make him playable for a limited sequence of 'missions' (like they did with Ellie in the first game). Personally, I would prefer playing with Joel the whole way through.
Like many said on this thread, the gameplay was not only scripted but also unbelieveable. For example, the bald guy doing the old 'let me grab you and then, instead of definitely fucking your hopes and dreaps up, I'll just throw you across the room, out of my reach, giving you the chance to retaliate'; another one - the woman casually looking under the car and, while she clearly knows Ellie is armed, she seems to be expecting more of a peek a boo than a bullet to the face.

Scripted AI should be expected. This is E3 time, Naughty Dog have very limited time to show what they can.

I'm not sure why no one gets this.

Girls kissing in media is much more common than guys kissing. I'm still waiting for the AAA game with 2 guys being intimate like Ellie and the other woman were...

Koala is an Aussie - personally I see many amateur Australian girls kissing (among other things) frequently on the internet, but perhaps he visits other sites.
Yeah, and not just Australian.
That's why I don't get all the commotion over Ellie kissing a girl.
