DICE has been absolute trash since BF4. They have absolutely no idea what makes BF special anymore, and they completely suck at map design. More big open maps means more vehicles going 30-0, more mortar fests, and getting sniped from every direction. There's so many stupid design choices. Only one gadget. Gun customization is lacking. The specialist shit isn't a bad idea it's just terribly executed and poorly balanced. UI is doodoo and missing key information. Ping system sucks. Controls are clunky on console.

Still day one tho.

Honestly even taking all the other issues (and there are many as talked about in this thread) the one things that stands head and shoulders above everything else is the specialists system.

I don't mean this as its an inferior system to classes (let's be honest though it is) I mean this from what it does to the game in terms of friend/foe recognition. When everyone looks the same on both sides its incredibly easy to start firing at team mates and they fire back at you only for you to take a few seconds to realise your on the same side. Multiple times I sat next to an enemy player and they me because we both just assumed we where on the same side since both teams look identical.

Look I get it EA wants to shove microtransaction skins down our throat and designing two recolours will take more time... but it really needs to be done.

Look how easy it is to identify what class and what faction these players are due to there unique colour tone and design... with specialists I don't know at a glance wtf team they are on or what role they preform. The game needs to be overhauled otherwise its going to bleed players fast, that's my take

The interface is awful; possibly the worst shooter interface I've ever seen. I've played every Battlefield but Hardline, and I didn't last a full map in this because of how bad the interface is. I did not enjoy that map either.

Battlefield 2042 is fun. It has lots of good ideas, and some really bad ones. It's also very buggy and unfinished. Unless DICE can guarantee that this will be a complete and polished product by release, a delay makes sense.

In other news, I tried out BFV for the first time last night. It's pretty great? I'm trying to remember if the controversy was just the "women can't be soldiers" BS or if it had legitimate technical/design issues compared to BF1.

BFV was a fine game. Just lacking in content at launch. The problem with 2042 in its current state is that it's lacking so many features and is so flawed that it's not something you fix with a patch. Parts of the game needs to go back to the drawing board. The whole class system is one of them.

Battlefield has always been a work in progress. I don’t mind seeing the improvements as I go. If you don’t like to do that buy it in 6 months or so.
My thoughts exactly. The last few Battlefield games have launched as a "final beta" and then receive patches and updates over the next six to twelve months that fix and fine-tune the experience. So the die-hard fans, like me, will always buy it on day one, and the rest will slowly start to pick it up with each patch & update and then when it's on sale at a discount the average gamer will want to check it out.

I was really excited but the beta was not good. I honestly would've preferred a BF4 remastered with the 2042 graphics.

I just have to laugh at the amount of people that played the beta and thought "yeah this acceptable enough to pay money for"

Jesus how standards have lowerd, I realise we are at an age now where people will legitimately only be old enough to remember games launching shit and broken, but its sad all the same.

I dont know if needs a full year...I'm not a developer so maybe they just need a few more months? I'd be down for this game to echo the release window of BC2. Release it (if it's ready) in March.

If they need a year..then take a year. Or hell with it...release it as an "Alpha/Early Access" game as those are a popular things on Steam in November and then "Final Release" whenever. 7 Days to Die has been in Alpha for 8 years lol.

The only one that was really disappointed with was I think 4? Couldn’t even play for a week! Otherwise bugs don’t really bother me

It might need to be delayed but a whole year will not be wise. The last thing they want to do is compete with Modern Warfare II. This was suppose to be Dice's year but they hit some major roadblocks that can be fixed.

Gotta love the people who play a older unfinished *cough* beta build and assume the finished retail version is trash.

When BF4 came out the MP was ok at the start, so I played the SP and by the time I had finished that, the MP had received a few patches and I really enjoyed it after that. It always takes me a few days for the MP to properly click with me.

That would be a really good sarcastic comment if the track record of AAA publishers doing this not being woefully bad. I mean you have played beta and release titles in the last decade right? The only one in modern memory with at least a decent change was Back 4 Blood and even then I put that down to the driver release.

That will postpone a potential sale so no. Let them have it immediately, while i wait patiently for a sale plus all that sweet patches:messenger_smiling_horns:
