I was thinking there wouldn't be any actual bitching considering the lack of big huge games this time, but it turns out I was wrong just two responses into this thread.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
What is wrong with Avatar? I was going to buy it for the mindless fun.

How about the bitching about people taking Edge reviews as gospel?

My reply was sarcasm though!

Looks pretty accurate to me, nice to see people using the other end of the scoring scale once in a while at least.

Typical Edge, if it's made in England it's a 10! So biased, when will they give [insert platform, genre, country, fax machine] the score it deserves?

I'm really enjoying The Saboteur. It has some massive flaws but I'm blinded by the game's atmosphere, easy mechanics and stupid matinee story.

:lol @ Tony Hawk...

This should have been a topic in its own right.

I understand the reasoning for most of these, except for Hardware. For numerous reasons it should have been the DS, not the PS2, awarded "Hardware of the Decade". But as always with EDGE, the scores/choices are useless without the text to show their (usually well considered) argument.

What did they say about psp lbp? It's a pretty damn faithful recreation of their 2008 GOTY... i can understand why they'd knock points of something for being a "faithful recreation" rather than something unique/original etc etc but 6 is still quite low...

EDIT: There 00-09 list is actually really fucking good.

Good list is good.

Seems like as good a place as any to put this month's GamesTM scores:

Bayonetta - 9
Little Big Planet PSP - 8
Zelda Trains - 8
Agarest - 7
Blue Toad Murder Files - 7
Pixeljunk Shooter - 9
Saboteur - 6
Wheelspin - 3
Avatar - 6
Tony Hawk Ride - 4
Jambo! Safari - 5
Sim & Punishment 2 - 9
The Void - 6
Jack & Daxter Final Frontier - 7
Excitebike World Rally - 5
Maestro! Jump In Music - 6

As you might notice, a lot of these marks are the same as Edge's, only one point higher.

Also, here's Edge's NEXT MONTH page:

ALSO! There's a huge (A2) Zelda poster in my copy - I don't know if it's subscribers only, but if it is and anybody wants mine, let me know and I'll post it to them (UK only, unless they pay me postage).

It's... pretty dull, actually. Unless there's some hidden implication I've not spotted,
it's just a couple of DDR arrows
.

The back cover makes this front cover doubly awesome.

Moment: Half-Life 2 being launched on Steam, sidestepping the retail side of things.

Peter Molyneux (Creative Director, Microsoft Game Studios Europe)
Game: Half-Life 2
People: Bill Gates & Steve Jobs
Moment: Social networking exploding.

Katsuhiro Harada (Exec Producer, Tekken 6)

I wonder why LBP PSP only got a 6, the PS3 version got a 10, and the game seems well suited to handhelds.

Judging by the bad "Saboteur" scores in both magazines, the game didn't turn out so hot?

Can't stress enough: for both of these magazines, a 5 and a 6 are fine scores that still mean the game is worth playing. They use the whole scale etc.
