Yes! Finally a place for some proper EDM!

Definitely subscribed, also, if anyone is in the Toronto area I usually hit most of the bigger EDM shows, been to Zedd, Swedish House Mafia, and Porter already this year!

Niiiiiiicccccccccceeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Sweet OT, I'll be spending a lot of time in here.

Just found this on the UKF Drum & Bass youtube channel.

So chilled out right now.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6wMj9T58h0

If you like liquid like that, may I recommend subscribing to Liquicity, which focuses on that and that alone. Definitely more focused on the underground then yer UKFs, but still not afraid to slip in some Netskys in there.

Also, Nu:tone and Logistics released an album yesterday, accompanied by a whole pile of videos which will probably be up your street.

Amazing OT!!!!!!

anyway, im sad Ultra is over but its okay because we got so many new songs from it

my favorite has to be AVICII's new song that he plays at Ultra
this first song is going to be as big as Levels, or maybe even bigger. Incredibly catchy!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOFZdhScCbE

and this is the 2nd song he plays
http://youtu.be/woNERCtR0so
the vocal is seriously sending chills down my spine, soo haunting especially when the beat drops

:O

I like that first one. How can I get a clear copy to download?

Got some other good links to songs? I'm not huge on EDM but it has grown on me over the past year or two. The songs that "are better in real life" in the DJ/concert setting is what I don't care for, but it's hard to deny some songs are actually good in or out of a music festival, and those I enjoy having on my iPhone.

It isn`t out yet, he played a lot of songs for the first time at Ultra, but since you want other stuff like that Avicii is the best for happy/euphoric songs.

You have probably heard of these 2 by Avicii Fade Into Darkness and Levels

Armin Van Buuren - Drowning (Avicii Remix)

Alesso - Years (Vocal Mix)

Coldplay - Charlie Brown (David Aude Remix)

Dirty South & Alesso - City of Dreams

I have a lot more but these are all similar to Avicii and Swedish House Mafia progressive house style.

Nice OP! Much better than my trance one :p

Those festivals sound fucking awesome. I wonder if there are any big ones in the great state of California.

Oh dude, California is full of festivals. Are you socal or norcal? There's POP, Beyond Wonderland, Nocturnal Wonderland, and a bunch of others. We don't have EDC anymore but there are nonstop artist shows if that's what you're into.

subbed!

Maybe this thread will take me out of lurker mode.
Or not

Where's the UK House/Garage love?

I've been getting into Disclosure and Kidnap Kid recently. I was fairly bummed that I missed Disclosure playing at U Street Music Hall in DC. Tickets were just $15 but I couldn't get anyone to go with me, and was a little wary of going alone. Next time, whatever, I'll go.

Looking for some house/trance compilation recommendations. Something along the lines of the early Euphoria series (like Matt Darey's Ibiza Euphoria or Dave Pierce's Transcendental Euphoria) so I guess Ibiza style house (I'm already familiar with Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren). Alternatively, I'm looking for more anthemic house like the Ministry of Sound's The Annual series (2004 is still the best IMO). Cheers

Two questions.

1. Is the Trance thread closing?
2. Are we ok to put sets in here? I have almost a hundred that I could post, but I want to make sure that's ok.

I'm a big fan of the epic/main-room/melodic/whatever side of trance (Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, etc.), but let's not neglect the more progressive and psychedelic sides of the genre. That's the type of stuff that really does it for me. Here's a brilliant example of what I'm talking about, from one of my absolute top DJs. This mix is legendary:

John '00' Fleming's BBC Essential Mix from 2010

Starts off deep and serious and builds into a psychedelic frenzy.

If you like that set, I highly recommend you get ahold of episode 74 of JOOF's podcast, Global Trance Grooves, from June 2009. It's a two hour set from himself and the Digital Blonde (another amazing trance producer), and it's a MONSTER! I actually like it more than his Essential Mix. Couldn't find a decent link to a stream or download, but you can d/l it from iTunes.

Dat essential mix. Mother of god.

Nope. This currently looks more like a house thread than an EDM thread though =P

Have you heard his latest solo album? Sweet Jesus, is it epic! JOOF is a trance god.

I'll check that out tomorrow.

My head feels extremely heavy right now... I swear my eyes completely unfocused, my vision went black and I could feel my eyes darting about like crazy for a short while, whilst listening to that mix.

Great thread. If you're looking for some fun video game influenced EDM, you guys can check out my soundcloud page for some cool tunes. Help support a hungry Saudi musician by simply leaving a comment (preferably something nice) and spreading the word.

Hey, great timing! I'm very new to EDM but I've really grown to love stuff like Daft Punk and Crystal Castles, and have been getting into Salem and a lot of Chiptunes stuff like Modigs and Anamanaguchi lately.

Basically, I'm a babe in the woods but I'm really loving exploring the genre. I've always HATED music with no words in it and I don't really know what's changed in me but I'm totally into it now. I used to attribute music value based on it's lyrics alone, so this is all a real change of pace.

The weird thing is that I'm a 30-something dude who wouldn't and couldn't dance a step if his life depended on it and would be as uncomfortable at a club as he would a klan rally so I don't really know or understand what it is I'm getting out of this stuff, but I can't help it. The past month or so I've been going around all day with all manner of bleeps and boops and beats going through my headphones and I'm finding it fits in very well with my lifestyle.

I'm just totally surprised I can get so much enjoyment out of this stuff since it's been repulsive to me since I first heard about it so many years ago, until I actually started giving it a shot.

so someone recommended me some Knife Party remixes, which led me to Adventure Club then on to Krewella and Krewella is fucking awesome. -_-

I love stuff like Daft Punk, but I can't stand dubstep. So I guess that means I only dig certain sub-genres.

You like modern house/disco. Listen to stuff that DFA puts out (especially Juan Macclean), Cassius, Aeroplane, Azari & III, Daphni, Royksopp, Tiger & Woods, Todd Terje, Vitalic (if you're into HAA and Justice)

Edit: also this thread is way too US centric

I like their studio recordings but everyone said they were terrible live at Ultra :/ Either way Alive is a classic.

Not sure how popular Sound Remedy is but their recent remix is so good.

Yep, Sound Remedy has some amazing remixes.

I think Krewella is fairly dreadful. Generic dubstep paired with generic female vocalists singing generic lyrics about getting drunk, partying or having sex (or a combination of the above). I think Killsonik is better, myself.

Yea I only know Rise and Fall and Alive so I am not the best judge, but I will check out killsonik.

I was lucky enough to see J00F play a 4 hour club set when he toured Australia a couple of years ago.

Amazing stuff.

I'm jealous. He and Christopher Lawrence are probably the only two DJs I would actually bother going out to see nowadays. Unfortunately, J00F will never play anywhere remotely near here, so it'll have to remain a dream...

The title is appropriate but it might be better served as a Blues or RnB thread title! The best part as it goes even deeper than this. :)

Um what is going on here? Is this the supposed to replace the other EDM thread? The music here kind of sucks tbh. Where's the house music? Deep house....techno....Scuba...Blawan....Bicep.....Jacques Greene. Who wants to talk about Aviici.

Yes! Huge EDM fan from Columbus, OH here. It's not big here but I did see Tiesto, Tommy Trash, and Flux Pavilion recently. Subbed
