Lyrics:

Vicente Fernández Joins Latino Victory Project to Announce Support for Hillary Clinton

Washington, D.C.—Latino Victory Project and Mexican recording artist and icon Vicente Fernández joined forces to announce the artist’s support for Hillary Clinton for president. Latino Victory launched the announcement with a video featuring a corrido (ballad) in which Fernández expresses his support for Clinton and issues a call to action asking the Latino community to vote and to make its voice heard.

“We are overjoyed to partner with one of the most prolific and talented recording artists in Latin America and the United States,” said Martín Diego García, Latino Victory Project director of campaigns. “Vicente Fernández is a true legend who has earned the respect and admiration of the Latino community in the United States through a special mutual bond forged by his captivating music. He has inspired generations of Latinos with his music, and now he has stepped in to inspire us to vote in November and make our voices heard in this election. Vicente’s call to action is a powerful reminder that Secretary Clinton is the only candidate who will respect and work with the Latino community, and he is proud to stand with her.”

He is the most recognized recording artist in his genre, ranchera music or regional Mexican music as it is known in the United States. Throughout his stellar career, Fernández has recorded 100 albums, sold nearly 70 million copies, and has won 8 Latin Grammys, 2 Grammys and 14 Premios lo Nuestro, among many others. Is worth nothing that Chente came out from his retirement to record this.

Oh shit..that dude's still kicking? I can remember him playing on jukeboxes in Spanish restaurants as a kid..

He actually retired earlier this year, but these guys somehow convinced him to record this.

I want to believe he did this for free to unite mexicans in the US, unlike Juan Gabriel who made a song for a mexican candidate in 2000 so he could be forgiven for tax evasion, lol.

Is not like they needed to try too hard to convince him:

“The day I come across him, I’m going to spit in his face! I’m going to tell him to go f*ck himself,” said Fernandez. “I’m going to tell him everything no one has ever told him in his damn life.”

I'm all about house music, punk, avant garde, etc. but these Mexican singers like Vicente have a soft spot in my heart. Saw these dudes preform when they were just getting big when my parents would take us to their shows.
