Sales of PC and console games and hardware spiked across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Australasia. Across tracked markets, 14.7 million PC and console games (digital and physical) were sold during February, which is a rise of 68% over the year before, according to the latest data from GSD.

The best-selling game by a long way was Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. Sales of Mario Kart 8: Deluxe and Red Dead Redemption 2 were both up 58% over the same month the year before.

PS5 was the top selling console of the month across tracked markets (France, Benelux, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Nordics, UK, Australia and New Zealand), ahead of Nintendo Switch by 12%. Overall, console unit sales are up 84% in February compared with the same period the year before with almost half a million machines sold. PS5 stock getting better and better, enough to even surpass the Switch, but still no end in sight for the shortages.
Incredible demand and May and June will have big releases potentially pushing it even further as well with RE8, Ratchet&Clank + FF7 Intergrade.

Switch up insanely & Ps5 doing bonkers.

But how can Sony, Nintendo & Valve compete against the juggernaut GamePass installed in 1 trillion devices?

But But Gamepass is the best value in gaming.......... No need to buy games .............. they said. Yet no one is buying the actual console as well :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Also, a $500 console just outsold a $300 console. Both in Units and Dollar sales .

Sony's strength in Europe is very impressive. I expect PS5 to beat Switch in every major European market except France.

Great month for Sony and Nintendo.

We know MS hides the numbers, but it's curious there are no mentions about Series Xbox on sales News anywhere. It is almost like MS is paying to shut people up.

Where is Kenshin to make some shit about how bad Playstation is compared to Nintendo.... o wait he got banned... LOL
Great month for both. PS5 is still sold out so it will just get better and better for them.

Remember when people said PS4 and Xbox one will be the last generation of consoles.... As long as there is hardware and PC’s console will be around

Apparently they already won and this is just the denial stage of the industry.

I don't think MS is paying anyone to hide numbers, it's just that hardware platforms that come in third don't tend to get mentioned. Xbox was talked about when it topped the UK hardware charts recently. I'm sure if we got more Latin America numbers then we'd be hearing about Xbox more as well.

This is an insane increase compared to the previous year, we saw the same in February NPD. The mix of next gen launch, Switch sales curve peak and specially covid I think has been pumping hard the consoles market.

Since EMEA is the biggest PS market, it would be nice to get the PS5 sales to see how close they are of achieving their WW goal for this fiscal year.

But Sony is offsetting whatever losses they have on the PS5 hardware with software sold (1st part and third party) and PS+ subscriptions . Also they sell a shit ton of accesories that are not including with the console such as the controllers and headset.

The accessories market (including toys-to-life) was up 12% over the same period last year in Euro spending, with 1.35 million accessories sold. Sony's PS5 DualSense controller was the most popular device, ahead of the DualShock 4 for PS4 in second place.

And AFAIK the Switch isnt nearly as bad with stock, supply as the PS5. I just posted about this recently.
