Epic release new Unreal Engine 4 tech demo "Infiltrator", runs on a single GTX 680

Those dudes can't shoot for shit!

Very impressive. For me it's the best "next-Gen" footage I've seen, though I understand that it's just a tech demo.

Binary Domain 2?

i dont understand the point of showing these demos on gtx 680 or 7990, do they expect gamers to shell out $500+ for gpus??? seems really misleading

It's an engine tech demo, so for one time only 'it doesn't have anything to do with gameplay what a silly complaint'

OT: dang
I fucking hate ue3, i'd hate it to death if I could, but this is really impressive.

Is it really running on a gtx 680 in this video?... or does the demo 'also run on a gtx680'
but at half res with no msaa like that elemental demo

Saw suspiciously few jaggies and we all know how much of a SHIT ue3 (and other deferred engines) takes on itself when you apply msaa...

They need to release this demo for download , I want to try it, looks really impressive even if it's probably mostly smoke and mirrors.

There is no game logic running underneath the visuals, so I'm skeptical if this is what we will get in game. The folks at Guerilla are tech wizards, so I don't understand this shitting on killzone.

It is running game logic, just not AI and that would not have any effect on how good a game would look.

Absolutely gorgeous. Can't wait to see what UE4 produces on next-gen consoles.

For reference, I was incredibly impressed by the BF4 demo as well.

It's probably a new game, not only a tech demo.

The demo looks good.
I mean the gray and dark stuff is epics style.

And a lot of games are colorful again so some variation is not a problem to me.
But i now want to see how these engines keep up in a player controlled environment.

Looks very impressive visually. To be honest, Deep Down and Agni impressed as much, but this is what I hope to see visually from next gen. In terms of actual aesthetic though, definitely prefered Killzone. Plus this is a cutscene, with cinematic direction. Gears cutscenes always looked a good deal better than gameplay to me. Still this at least looks better visually than samaritan.

By the end of 2013, AMD will hopefully release 8xxx line of GPUs. Midrange cards of that series will have power of 7970 [which is btw, faster than gtx680] for 300-400$.

German article also mentioned that Unreal Engine 4 will come out in 2014.

The engine is going to be used for years. What you get for $500 now will be much cheaper in just a few years. I can't fathom how this is misleading, when they explicitly state the actual hardware this is running on. If they said it was running on 3 Titans, it still wouldn't be misleading but not nearly as interesting.

Someone adjust that simpsons gif where they bat the lamb away when it walks in front of the cuter baby lamb, but use this demo and the ps4 elemental crippled demo.

Why their art direction always looks so cliche and boring? It's probably an intentional thing right?

maybe it is good way to show off the visual? these dark tone makes the graphics look better I think. But yea, I am not fan of Epic's art direction on these kind of demos.

Or maybe it's what they think gamers want /expect to see in those demos?Or are they being aimed primarily for investors?

No, this is a fun experiment, but you won't get rid of that noise until you get a machine with ridiculous processing power.
Or tone down the path-tracing model, e.g. viewport res, max bounces, etc. We're slowly but steadily getting there. Actually, some hybrid approaches are getting there faster.

Might be the worst art design I've seen for some time

Technically great, but that's not surprising since that shit is their bread and butter

I do believe this will be the last generation of rasterization-only rendering methods.

This realtime demo absolutely convinces me that visuals from Cyberpunk 2077 announcement trailer can be adapted into a game by 2015.
