Hello to everyone in the Americas. This is Eiji Aonuma, the Supervisor of Hyrule Warriors. The game is finally available in North America!
Did you get a chance to play it yet? Hyrule Warriors is a fast-paced Dynasty Warriors game filled with unique elements from The Legend of Zelda series. This game was crafted by the developers at Koei Tecmo Games, who are also fans of the Zelda series, so Zelda fans should have a fun time playing this too. In addition to our hero, Link, you can play as a variety of characters like Princess Zelda, Impa, and Midna, who makes an appearance in The Legend of Zelda:Twilight Princess, so I hope you'll try them out.

Beyond that, additional downloadable content will become available in Hyrule Warriors after the game launches. The first DLC pack, Master Quest Pack, will be released on October 16. The details of that pack will be revealed soon, but today, let me give you a sneak peak at an additional weapon.

The new weapon added through the Master Quest Pack is...Epona! Some of you may be surprised to hear that Epona is a "weapon", but in Hyrule Warriors, she can team up with Link to attack enemies! I already had a chance to try out Epona in the game. By riding Epona, I was able to blow heards of enemies away and gallop swiftly through the fields, and I had a lot of fun trying out this re-imagined version of her in Hyrule Warriors. In the Zelda series, players never had a chance to tackle bosses by galloping around them with Epona like in Hyrule Warriors, so I hope fans will enjoy playing as Zelda characters in a game with a different type of action than you typically find in the original series.

In addition to Epona, the DLC will include other content as well, like new scenarios and costumes that will further expand your gaming experience. If you're interested, please check it out in the Nintendo eShop. I hope these download packs will help deepen and expand your adventures in Hyrule Warriors.

DLC info:
Hyrule Warriors Master Quest (October 16th)
1 new Weapon (Epona)

Majora's Mask (January)

Pre-ordering all four packs at a discount also nets you a Dark Link costume to use immediately.

The villains Cia, Valga, and Wizro are also being made playable via downloadable update, for free, soon.

Send me out to pasture if old.

Can't say neigh to that.

You magnificent bastard.

Already paid the season pass, excited! The game is damn fun. Aonuma doesn't comment on this, but would equipping Epona mean your overall speed in the field increases? That'd be ace!

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
For some reason I was expecting Link to be holding Epona in his arms and actually attacking with the physical horse.

I'm not sure if I feel relieved or let down right now.

This is rather brilliant. Dlc will keep me playing this for months.

Edit - makes me wonder if the twilight pack weapon will be Wolf link.

Only Link get to ride Epona? Makes sense but is still a bit disappointing. Overall, I'm kind of impressed with all this DLC support.

Very creative weapon... in a game filled with them. I'm honestly surprised at what Hyrule Warriors has pulled off, in terms of merging the two (very divergent) franchises.

I wonder what the chances are of a Majora character being added in the Majora DLC... that would be awesome.

I know it's stupid but it still feels weird to me to see Nintendo hopping onto the DLC bandwagon with their core franchises.

The feeling of buying a "complete" game these days is diminishing, at least it feels that way to me. Nintendo's core games always felt untouched by that stuff, although I can't see them pull DLC stunts with their Zelda and Mario main titles.

At least Nintendo does seem to offer value with their DLC offerings for a reasonable price, so I can't blame them for that. Will buy the Mario Kart full pack for sure but I need to see some more on the HW DLC. Thankfully the main game is pretty enjoyable as it is now.

Yeah, that is how I imagined it after reading the title. I don't know why, but it seems like either way would fit in this game.

You own a full and complete game now (well you will when the three bosses are given away for free) everything else is a bonus made post release.

Can't wait to see what her Special Attacks are lol.

Laser Beams from Epona's eyes would be completely out of place, yet ridiculously cool lol

will the 14.99 pack be available forever, or I have to download it as a preorder and after that it will desappear?
