"Ragebait" is right; outrage marketing wins every time these days. They aren't journalists.
They write intentionally provactive ragebait to get website traffic to entice advertisers whom they happen to review the advertisers as well. They aren't journalist and they are a dying format.
Cut it off at the source. Don't give them the click. Use ad blocker. Call them out for not being journalists.
Fuck them and cheers to this guy for calling them out.
They hate everyone. It has nothing to do with the people they hate and all about the people who are doing the hating. When you hate that many people, maybe it's not the world that's the problem but it's the people doing the hating.Ok, since I can't say it over there, I'll ask here:
The crazies at resetera are shitting on this guy because he worked for Breitbart (which is a dumb website, sure) in the past. They're calling him all sorts of terrible things. My question: For how long will they keep doing this? Because my feeling is that even in 30 years, the moment this guy says something, one of these crazies will shriek 'BUT YOU WORKED FOR BREITBART!!1'.
So what? We forgive murderers, rapists and thieves, but having worked for a bad website justifies dismissing and ruining someone's life forever?
W t fuck?

Counter point. They love Disney. They love Disney so much they are overlooking the Mouse's very close relationship with China (despite China's systemic genocide of its own Muslim population), their streaming service easily hackable, and anything else that is negative for Disney.
That's about it. They are frothing at the mouth Mousekateers who look to Twitter for their daily opinion. If Disney ever vouched for Trump, they would have a system error and crash.

Richard himself said he was tipped off that something is coming.Has there been any blogs written about this guy by the outlets he called out since? One thing I know about "Game journalism" is that they are petty as fuck.
And over there at Reeeeee, Jesus Christ: If you ever need a solid example of brainwashed, echo chamber babies, just read their thread on the topic.
In the short amount of time I had, I wanted to recognize my peers, correct the wrong of Cecilia DāAnastasio not being on the shortlist and then address something of value. I had no idea what that would be because there were many topics worthy of being highlighted.
Just like Richard says in his reply, it was only a matter of time until the pettiness (re)surfaces .. I expected something like that reply from Kotaku, but not as incoherent and emotionally fueled, considering they are "journalists" they should know how to put a few English words together to form a coherent sentence.Richard himself said he was tipped off that something is coming.
Hell even Cecilia who he praised, shat on him on twitter today.
From the article posted by ZeroGravity :
Well, it seems that Cecilia D'Anastasio (a Kotaku journilst) didn't appreciate his praise. However, she sill got a classy reply from Richard Lewis:
Some classic examples include:
ā Erotic fan fiction about Streetfighter V passed off as game analysis
ā A post on Mario Kart that declared āWario is a libertarian and Bowser is a fascistā as well as shoehorning in an Alex Jones reference.
ā An article about how people who attend Smash events have hygiene problems
ā An article about āwhat stops women from going pro in esports,ā that was a dialogue between two women who have never tried to go pro in esports.
ā A news post wondering if two people in a crowd shot taken from an esports event were pleasuring each other.
ā A post about Donald Trump misspeaking and referring to the 52 jets the US sold to Norway as F-52s, a fictitious aircraft that only exists in Call of Duty, instead of 52 F-35s.
ā An article on performing fellatio while your love interest is playing video games, that was predicated on a tweet that used the phrase āsucking d**kā to mean āplaying badly.ā
ā An article on a tired topic in esports, one that has long been put to bed, about whether or not esports competitors should use their real names over their in-game monickers.
ā An article that compares teabagging, the act of moving up and down quickly on a dead or prone opponent in a video game, to sexual assault/rape
It is also worth noting, in the interests of fairness, that Dexerto ran stories about the fake Call of Duty jets and a YouTuber handing out deodorant at a Smash Brothers event.
Then you are not really familiar with that site...Wow. I never thought that having a different opinion over on that other side literally is a reason for a PERMA BAN
Its fucking crazy how BRAINWASHED some of these people are. Like, I get it. You have a different opinion but goddamnit do some actual RESEARCh for fucks sake before you just believe what everyone says.
All these people over there would be the first ones to raise the hand if it was 1939
It's a shame how easily you can control the crowds. It is really fucking scary actually.
Those are arrested by the police, incarcerated by sleazy judges and racist jurors. More importantly, they are not thought criminals (presumably). They are actually victims of society, if we love them they will come around. So what? We forgive murderers, rapists and thieves, but having worked for a bad website justifies dismissing and ruining someone's life forever?
Once you promote one in position of power, give them the ability to hire they will hire their own and it will grow.Epic speech, he is correct about these people inserting their friends as gatekeepers.... all the smears, lies etc.
I don't know who Cecilia is....
I wish gaming companies would stop empowering these gatekeepers and hiring from their ranks. You always see folks from the likes of IGN and Kotaku trying to get jobs in writing or social media for publishers.
Waypoint, Kotaku and Polygon must die. I'd add many more to that list too...
