The 3DS seems to only be taking off in Japan, though Mario should really help the situation in Europe and the US.

Would be awesome to have this expressed numerically...
Don't worry, the pixel counters will be here soon.

So the 3DS price cut has done almost nothing in Europe....confirmed?
PS3 is enjoying really strong sales especially post price cut, also considering that these are just the sales for the top european markets, quite different from the whole EMEA territory.

Edit: No, I've just noticed that they have increased the number of countries up to 14.

It's pretty much the whole of Western Europe ... except Norway :p

Quite a few more countries included than previously.

Yay, [my favorite console] is beating the [console(s) I don't like] in [a certain region].

Edit: Didn't talk about [other region 1] or [other region 2] because that info doesn't serve my argument.

Wow at PS3 dominating 360 like that in Europe.

It makes the America chart hilarious when compared to that and the Japan one.

That's only for NPD threads.

PS3 is really doing well, 360 is an abomination in Japan but a beast in US. Across the board PS3 is very consistent.

It's not surprising that only Japan would see an increase, seeing as that's the only place that software's coming.
Sure the US and Europe have Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 to look forward to, but that's all we have.

Japan has like half a dozen big games (100k+) between now and the end of December.
And then a bunch of smaller, but possibly notable (50k+) stuff as well.

Is it a surprise that the PS3 outsells the 360 in Europe? Has the 360 dominated in Europe previously? I don't think the 360 is doing badly in Europe, seems like a good step up from the original Xbox.

Hmm, the Wii might pass the 360 in WW sales after the holidays. Oh, and the PS3 is doing well. People laughed at the $50 price cut, but that was all Sony needed.

6.3 vs 5.5 is dominating?

Japan is where the domination (decimating?) is happening.

Feigned surprise, an old favorite amongst cheerleaders.

Anybody wanna pixel count those charts?

Out of this one:

1ozUp.jpg

I get PS3 about 2.8 million 360 about 2.0 million Wii about 2.0m in 2011.

Looks like through week 41? which Google tells me is Oct 10-16 2011.

Man those European PSP numbers look pretty nice. I suppose that's why they're the ones still funding Western software development, and are getting the newest PSP.

I don't think japan should even count anymore for 360, Microsoft just isn't trying at all.

Wow, I really didn't think the PS3 was outpacing the 360 by that much. I'm really curious to see if Sony will actually manage to take 2nd place by the end of the year.

Also, Just Dance 2, the best selling game in the US?

I never really bother looking at anything besides the UK charts so it is pretty surprising to me. Also the PS3 is pretty dominating in the software charts. The drop from Fifa 12 on PS3 to 360 is bigger than the drop from Madden/Blops 360-PS3 in America.

.

Why are you being so salty? We hardly get factual European numbers, so some data is nice to finally see. Look beyond the hardware too. PS3 is also ahead of the 360 in the top 20 software chart.

is the upswing in PSP #s in Europe on the back of the E-1000 series?

That was only launched very recently IIRC, so I doubt that. I'm guessing it's been the price drop coupled with the surprising success of the AR games like Eyepet, and Invizimals in the region.

You just answered your question.

It's like the more close-mouthed NPD becomes, the more Nintendo tells us. Thanks Nintendo. Lots to digest here.

Can we somehow get LTD numbers using this info? Always nice to see Euro numbers, because I'm American I always figured the 360 was ahead of the PS3 worldwide, but it seems that isn't the case.
