Whatever happens, however, Prototype looks to be at the very least a fundamentally brilliant laboratory for some much-needed research into mindless time-wasting. Just like Pacific City, this is shaping up to be an arcadey platform world you'll be happy to burn untold hours in, even if all you're really doing is leaping from one skyscraper to the next, and dropkicking buskers up and down the length of Lexington Avenue. A half-hour with the controller is enough to suggest that Prototype has the excessive nature needed to make a great open-world experience. Pretty soon we'll know whether it has the necessary restraint to carve the ensuing madness into something approaching a recognisable structure, for those who like their chaos mixed with coherency.

Can't wait for this one!

Heck, for Eurogamer that's probably enough for a review!

Anyway, this game needs footage, not screens.

very nice... its pretty much teh same preview GI gave. Has the underpinnings of being really really good, if it can be pulled together cohesively it can be great.

This game was always on my list....Intrigues me more than infamous....

Didn't take long before someone mentioned inFamous. I'm buying both games but lets not derail this topic with infamous.

Not in any videos I've seen.

Is GAF full of closeted Darkfall fanboys or something, with all the Eurogamer bashing?

At any rate, definitely going to get this one. Doesn't quite reach the visual style of Infamous, but the gameplay should deliver.

For me that's a very bad thing. I really liked Hulk UD for...maybe ten minutes.

I liked it a lot once you started getting special moves. The super soldiers seem a lot like Hulk Busters, and that fight with the special operations guy looked like a remix of the Abomination fight.

They dared not to give the <overrated high profile console exclusive> a perfect score

Glad to hear plenty of references to jumping. After being hugely impressed by what I saw of inFamous' platforming, I thought Prototype would end up more focused on slicing and dicing and not jumping around.

That second shot seems to be a copy paste landscape, does anyone know if the city itself will have any character?

One video had the player zipping past a full scale UN building. So yeah.

Game looks really cool.
Both this and inFAMOUS are going to be great additions to the "sandbox" action genre.

I wonder if Eurogamer is going to give it a 7 like they did with inFAMOUS.
Or maybe a 9/10...?

No, GAF full of video game fanboys who actually care about credible game reviews and rip on pieces of shit websites like Eurogamer.

want....want want want....I was thinking add orbs for win, but to be honest, I don't think this game is the game for orb hunting. In Crackdown orb hunting was something that was challenging because there were some limitations to the movement, in this it seems slightly redundant? Anyway day 1.

The main character and the monsters just look so cheesy. But the as long as the world is interesting I might still be up for it.

Oh god, hang yourself.

Show me a website that has more consistently well-written reviews. It's not worth smearing the entire site over a freelancer's lousy review of an MMO that I wouldn't play in a million years.

edit: Unless you're sad about a few PS3-exclusive reviews. In which case, don't bother.

Much like Crackdown. Who cared about those stupid cars eh?

I'm looking forward to both this and inFAMOUS. I'm special like that.

It was a joke.

Eurogamer put in their poor InFamous review that 2 of their gripes was you can't pick up guns and you can't drive cars.

Looks great. Wish both this and inFamous were coming to PC since it's the only system I own.

Well, it's this or Infamous. I was thinking about picking up Infamous, but now I'll wait to see how this turns out. No need to buy both!

Troll harder.
Your flame bait didn't work on me in the inFAMOUS thread and it won't work here either.

It's looking very good as usual.
Now with the EU screw-up of Sony with Infamous, i might have to play this first.

Basically how I feel. Every game reviewing outlet is wrapped up in an inherently flawed publisher/media model. I just go where the best writers are.

Wait, what?!? You can't pick up guns or drive cars? My interest just went way down for that game. How did I not know that? Even if the main character does have super powers, he should still be able to shoot guns and drive cars!

Visiting Activision at the Prototype event in Las Vegas the past two days, I can vouch that the title has entertaining aspects that will gamers will enjoy. Though, if you didn't like Infamous, I don't see why people would like Prototype due to their repetitive nature of the gameplay. It's easy to pick up and play though -- you'll be immersed in the world within five to ten minutes; just don't expect to be immersed in the storyline.
