Eurogamer's 2014 Game of the Year is...

No problem with MK being GOTY, it's a solid choice. Now Nintendo release comprehensive Battle Mode DLC and it will be Mario Kart of the forever.

Absolutely. Fully featured Battle Mode would be fantastic. I miss the days of Mario Kart 64 Battle Mode. Oh man dat nostalgia.

actually no, MK8's online service is the biggest POS I seen. I get connection errors a little here and there. The AAA games these holidays arent even close.

Nintendo is still terrible when it comes to online gaming.

MK8= biggest POS? When Drive Club can't even play, the Crew online failing, MCC only goes boom?

I can played MK8 online day one without problem. I am not even using Lan cable here.

  1. Mario Kart 8
  2. Destiny
  3. Hearthstone
  4. Bayonetta 2
  5. Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls
  6. Alien: Isolation
  7. Dark Souls 2
  8. Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes
  9. Towerfall Ascension
  10. Forza Horizon 2

Destiny... Is this for real? Destiny shouldn't even be in the top 10.

And yet Shadow of Mordor is left out? One of the best games this year?

The only way I could think to improve the game in the future is to reinstate the battle mode from mario kart 64 and reduce the number of racers down to 8. That's literally it. Everything else is perfect. My favourite game of the generation by a long way.

Yeah, so Destiny kinda discredits that whole list, MK8 is doable but as I haven't played it so I have to question it due to Destiny being number 2.

2014 is a strange year when different outlets chose odd choices for their Game of the Year.

Ya, it's the first year I can remember in a long time where there was no clear choice. Interesting year.

I'm not sure what more Wolfenstein: The New Order needed to have to be the Bioshock Infinite of this year. I think it's much better than that game, but it certainly didn't get recognized in the same way.

It didn't provide a thought-provoking plot like Bioshock.
