Everybody's Golf: Hot Shots |OT| Par Deux

anyone else getting this bullshit all the time on ps5?

all i wanna do is play with the homies this game is gay as fuck solo

The Switch update is great. I'm getting perfectly timed shots consistently now. Seems they updated the bar to 60fps. It doesn't have that weird ghosting effect that makes your eyes go crossed.

Edit: seems to be performing better in general as well. Flaming shots don't lag, there's less lag/stutter during transitions.

I only had Everybody's Golf Out of Bounds on PS3. I imagine it is the same.
I dug out my PS3 and set it up just to play HSG World Invitational again. I forgot how good WI really is and I love variety of swing interface options they give you there. The Advanced Shot option is my favorite for sure. It brings an analog element into the process and makes it feel more alive because it is happening in much closer to real time.

It is hard to believe that a two generation ago console has better graphics than the PS5 version. I'm sure it's nothing to do with the hardware, I just think the developer, Hyde, made some production decisions that make it look less than the stellar quality we'd been conditioned to with the Clap Hanz versions of the game. I'm really surprised that Bandai Namco signed off on it. I would still like to eventually play the game because I think with a tweak or two through updating it could be a very playable game. I don't have a PS5, so I'd be buying the PC version, but I'm hearing it is less plagued by bugs than the PS5 and Switch (2) versions.

I will wait for it to go on sale and buy it once it drops to under $30. if it looked as good as World Invitational on my PS3, I'd buy it now, no question about it.

I played against a robot in one of the girls story mode. How do I unlock him? He's awesome!
Nobody knows. How do you unlock anything in this game? You just play and things just randomly unlock at some point.

I saw somewhere that someone did some experimentation with the hitting, and even if you do everything perfect your shot is not consistent. Which totally matches what I thought, you can hit it perfectly and the ball doesn't go anywhere close to where it should part of the time.

I'm struggling with the World Tour now that the opponents are now shooting under par. The problem is the flaking shot meter makes it hard to win when you have these really bad lag issues. The best way to prove it is to do a putt where you press the button really quick twice in a row...that second button press yields results all over the place even if you're consistent...power results end up 10% to 30% even though it should be consistently 10%.

It looks better in person. It has a sun ray filter thingy that doesn't really show up in videos. It really is a great sequel to the PS3 version and it feels better than the PS4 version which I also played yesterday.

The new update made the game unplayable on my Legion Go S Z1E 😔

I'm not double dipping on Switch 2. What a major disappointment. They picked the wrong dev team for this one.

Sorry to hear that. I haven't touched the PC version since launch day because it ran like ass on the Steam Deck out of the box, and it's not the type of game I want to sit at my PC for.

Somehow they made things worse on PC!

I'm really glad things are improving on Switch 2. I hope they can iron things out, because I was enjoying the game.

It's mind boggling how this type of game can have performance issues lol

All they did for Switch was unlock the framerate so it was a quick and easy "fix" for them.

HYDE seems committed to improving the game on all platforms at least, it will just take time. Maybe in a week or two they will start pushing out optimization patches. I'll post the tweet when they do.

I think it's going to take them 3 or 4 months to fix all the issues at a minimum. We may get some sort of optimization patch that helps some in the next 2 to 4 weeks on most courses. There are just so many performance and quality issues that need to be addressed. The frame rate is dropping from 60 to zero all the time is going to take time to sort out.

This is the first Hot Shots game I've ever played that I don't love. I'm going to shelve it and see if they can patch some life into it. Playing on Switch 2 and I just don't feel like I'm in control of the swing.

got a few hours in and while its def a bit tougher and clunkier than the last Everybody's Golf i played on PS4, this is hitting a scratch well enough. I hope they continue to fix bugs and get it running a bit smoother on PC.

Thats what I did.
WI is WORLDS better than this in every way.
But the main tragedy here is the game feel. on World inv. the shot feel is so tight and right that you feel totally in control, if it is a bad shot you know its your fault. This garbage, well, it feels wrong. Off. Slow. Janky.

Playing world inv. after a few holes of this makes me angry they threw this shit together like this. Worst in the series by far. I have the OG switch version. The patch seems to help but not by much, not enough to make this playable.

I have decided to replay world inv. this shit can rot in hell.

You're going to be disappointed
If you're talking to me, I'm not. At least not while playing it on Switch 2. It runs and looks great on Switch 2 to me. There's been some hitches before the CPU swings, but overall it looks and runs great. Slightly longer load times then when I played on PC, but not unbearable.

I've shelved this game for now. I got to a point in World Tour where there were no more unlockable characters with no explanation on how to unlock any more, and I don't feel like playing challenge mode until I randomly get a new golfer. Plus the jankiness makes it really hard to win some matches at this point. I also think that there's no difference in the golfers really because you end up having to stuff them to max stats with food just to overcome the jankiness. May come back to it next spring if they ever fix it.

Can't help but laugh every time Mizuki gets stuck in a bunker. The way he yells "Nooooo!" sounds like he's being murdered :messenger_grinning_squinting:

Picked this up on Steam and am a bit confused by all the comments in the thread.

Ive only played a solo round (the only available male character is 1000000000x insufferable…the lines are awful) but I have not seen any performance issues on my end.

Was going to snag the physical switch versions but was unsure about the upgrade path (if any) for switch 2.

How is it now? Any updates? Updated impressions?
It's getting worse.
And not by a little - I don't know 'what' exactly is causing it (and I'm not in the mood to try debugging it) but performance is literally progressively gotten worse when just running the game.

I was able to play the game at 60hz fairly reasonably on my living room setup at launch. As of recently - I am lucky to see 40fps at the same settings (and no - it's not course or character related - I tried every combination of that). If I knock the settings down to 720p all-low, the same rig that played the game maxed out before still doesn't hold 60 (though it runs a lot better than at 4k - so it IS GPU related, whatever is happening).
More fun - yesterday there was a patch and after downloading it I was able to get 60fps handheld at 1080p (something that was never possible at launch). Great - it got better right?
Except after reboot - the game was back to 30-40fps under same settings. There's also noticeable issues with some of the effects (the DOF randomly breaks (and remains active even when disabled in some situations), HDR doesn't work at all, Bloom goes from nothing to taking down 10fps, etc etc.

And given this game is unplayable below 60fps, this is the first time I actually feel I want a refund, but of course I'm outside of Steam allowances for it by now.

Got the Platinum Trophy tonight. I think I'd sum up the experience as a greatest hits album of your favorite band, but performed by a much lesser cover band that has a tendency to interject their own ideas into the songs you love and is made all the worse for it. It's ugly, buggy, performs poorly, and has some really shoddy AI. While it's a budget title with a lot of content, the game's production budget can often be felt in the lackluster UI or other presentational aspects. Because it is built upon a solid formula, one could consider it a decent title, but I think that's overly generous. If it weren't true already Everybody's Golf is dead.

This is 100% spot on 😔

Splendid analogy! You summed up my thoughts on it as well.:messenger_sunglasses:

Just want to say this game Is my personal Sin of Game of the Year, i wish it was more bright more cheerful, but its serviceable. I will be commenting on the Steam version.

I am close to clocking 200 hours in the game so it must do something right..right? Well it does keep the Addicting Everybody Golf/Hot Shots gameplay alive.. and spreading it to more platforms... and thats about it.
Mostly i am enjoying it with friends I have a routine at around midnight everyday where me and 2 other buddies do stroke play of 9 holes. its good fun when it works. and i am mostly happy that this unique simple to learn hard to master gameplay is still alive and kicking. We usually play with Fair Play on so Food and levels doesn't matter to make it more competitive and yeah it works with steam multiplayer its a lot of fun generally.

Now to list some Cons that i feel might be deal breakers for people that already have had their share of this franchise.
- Graphics are not as charming, detailed as the older iterations.
- PC version is hardly optimized there is no excuse for that the game uses 100% of cpu and gpu no matter how your Specifications are. and considering how the game game looks should be possible to run Steam Deck just really sad that they did not optimize it better.
- There are still bugs and questionable UI which works yes but is super annoying and keeps messing up the game.
- Multi player wise its not stable either and when the game desync's it punishes leavers with a 1 minute penalty even though its a bug in the synchronization.
to be more specific Sometimes when i start a play with my 2 friends the CPU takes over the control of one of the players do to connection or desync issues.
- I feel the putting is easier doesn't need to be very precise and if you hit the edge it usually does spins around the hole and goes in, my experience of doing homing shot and rising shot are a bit more tricky and have not been able to master or figure out how they work entirely but overall they seem quite random in execution. with how they benefit approaching the hole. So with that i can confirm getting albatross , hole in one is just as hard as its ever been.

Overall: This game is far from perfect but the multiplayer incorporated in steam has for sure made me get my money's worth it and more. Here is hoping this slippery won't be the end of the franchise it deserves to live on as its super rewarding and addicting to chase the perfect line up for hole in ones, eagles chip in's and albatrosses. And this game is my personal sin considering how many hours i already put into it and it having a Mixed Review on Steam ... But im just happy i have some buddies to share my enjoyment of arcade golf with so it doesn't matter to much as it works most of the time.

Off key note is it just me or is it clear that Namco is running a Shovelware strategy where they are pushing out low budget games these days?
just example Tales of Remasters,One upon a Katamari, Everybody Golf Hot Shots all in the span of a month or two.

Bonus:

I recently upgraded my monitor to a Samsung G7 (5k2k resolution) but the highest resolution I can choose in the display options is 3440x1440? that was my previous monitors resolution, can this game be played in 4k/5k2k?
